My friends and I were craving ramen so we decided to check this place out. When we walked in there were a few people ahead of us but we only waited about 15 minutes before being seated. I order hot green tea and the veggie ramen (added corn and bean sprouts). They sent over some dumplings on the house which I thought was really nice of them. Our waitress was attentive and nice. No complaints on the customer service. The 3 is only because the ramen was not as flavorful as I had hoped it would be. It was good but nothing out of this world.

Tamashii Ramen was a nice choice for a quick Friday night dinner. I had the miso ramen, which was tasty and loaded with plenty of veggies on top. It's not the best ramen I've had, but it certainly hit the spot for me.

What really sold me? The pork buns. Between the tenderness of the pork and the flavor of the accompanying greens, I could have eaten several more servings. I will be so bold as to call them the best pork buns I've had in quite a long time!

The service was solid and the staff were professional yet friendly. As for the venue, it's tiny with lots of character - Japanese-style prints adorn the walls whilst 90s radio plays in the background.

If you're seeking good ramen in Astoria, give this place a try, but do not pass on the pork buns. Please.

Move over Mitsuwa Ramen, Tamashii Ramen is now my go to ramen spot in the New York City area. Maybe the fact I have to pay a toll may play a part in that.

Broth: The broth to the shio ramen is light but still very flavorful. The Spicy miso ramen tends to be a little sweeter than other miso broths we have tasted.

Noodles: As my wife would say. Perfect.

Also the price is just right. Which is cheaper than most ramen places. If you want more of a bargain come during lunch where you get the same serving at a cheaper price.

I think it wrong to call this place a ramen place though for there are a lot more options than just ramen. They have okonomoyaki, which was very good. Crunchy but a little charred. Maybe 30 seconds less on cooking would have been perfect. There is takoyaki, buta kimchi, rice dishes, and so much more. So if your dining partner doesnt like ramen but enjoys other japanese foods this is the place for you.

If you like noodles, this is the place to come. When I finished all the noodles in my soup, I got a whole new portion to put into my soup for $2. Very tasty, with a nice blending of sesame oil, vinegar, tamari and soy sauce - and extra ginger.
