Don't let the bridges distract you. If you know where to sit, you can read a book, relax or jog around the park to get rid of NY stress :)

No better place to sit and relax or run around if you choose. There's even a skate board area. And don't forget the pool.

One can easily get to Astoria by public transport. For example , bus 69 goes there from Long Island City/Court Square. As many reviewers mention, there is a good view of Manhattan skyline, and also two bridges: the Triborough Bridge and the Hell Gate Bridge. The Park also contains New York City's oldest and largest pool, which opened on 4th July,1936 and hosted the swimming and diving trials for the U.S. Olympic Teams in 1936 and. Entrance to the pool is free, but you need to bring your own lock, and persons with no swimming costume will not be admitted.

This is perhaps one of the hidden secrets of New York. I visited this park at the weekend, it was a pleasure to see so many people out with their children enjoying themselves. At different locations in the park there are dedicated exercise stations as well as a proper running track and tennis courts. The views that are offered from this park over the river towards Manhattan are fantastic

We went there for the carnival was so nice loved it. Park has amazing views of NYC skyline. Park is also along I think the Hudson River which is a pretty site to go hang at night get some ice cream go for a stroll.
