OMG...highly recommend for all first timers to try the: TASTING PLATTER. They give you a little bit of everything which will give you a better idea of their delicious seasonings & spices. Includes: Fried Yuca, Mini Arepas, choice of shredded beef, chicken or pork, reina, Riccardo's Tuna Fish, cheddar or Guayanese cheese. YUMMY!!!!

We were looking for someplace to eat near Kaufman Astoria Cinema. This was nearby and the food was quite good. The arepas are tasty.

This is good tasty food, good service, great prices and portion size is just right. It is not fine dining but does give a taste of Venezuelan food. Try their drinks selection also.

If you're spending multiple days in NYC and want a break from the bright lights and big city of Manhattan.......take a trip up to Queens. The subway trip is easy. I can't say we've had Venezuelan food before, but we love new tastes and flavors, and lunch here was delicious. Did I mention service was friendly and attentive?

It's not a fancy place.......but this would be a great place to take a group of adult friends. I'd definitely go back.

We wanted something out of the norm and, after checking Trip Advisor, decided on Arepas Cafe and can't tell you how grateful we were with our choice. The setting here is casual with two small rooms. I was excited about trying Venezuelan food for the first time and did not know what to have. For starters, we decided on the mini empanadas. I've had empanadas before but nothing like these. As you bit into them, the flavors of the cheese, shredded beef, chicken and baby shark just oozed and filled your palate. And when the green sauce was added, this intensified the taste as you took each bite. Then we tried the Pabellon Criollo (the Venezuelan national dish) -- shredded beef, white rice, black beans and fried sweet plaintains sprinkled with white cheese. Another hit! We also ordered the Mami Arepa which is roast pork, avocado and white cheese sandwich filled inside a corn based pita type bread -- also sooo good! Our last dish was the Camarones Parrillas which is a dish the waitress explained was so big it should be shared by two people and we gladly did. It came with tons of deliciously flavored shrimp with green peppers over fries and fried yuca. We devoured it all without any hesitation. To accompany our meals we tried Polar beer and loved it as it complimented the food. The flan dessert was delicious but the caffe y leche was outstanding and not to be missed. When in Astoria again, we will definitely return to Arepas Cafe and try the other dishes. Our tab was so inexpensive for all we ate. This was a homerun!!
