I killed three cockroaches in two days, but missed the one that woke me crawling on my hand. The water was rust-colored and the faucets, both sink and tub, leaked. The room hadn't seen a maintenance effort in years, and the cleaning crews missed a lot. The price is ridiculous for what you get; pay a little more for a much better place.

Dear Sir,
I would like to assure you that at Hotel Presidential we follow a very strict pest control program.
I am surprised to learn from your review about the cockroaches incident.
Did you inform the concierge, the receptionist, the manager on duty or any management staff of the matter?
If you could tell me the exact date of your stay, we would go through our complains book and confirm your story so we can apologize.
I doubt that such thing happened as I've been in the hotel for 13 years and we never got such a complain.
At Hotel Presidential we have a state of the art water treatment facility. I can assure you that no other hotel in the eastern part of Nigeria can match the way we treat our water.
Our priorities at Hotel presidential are security and hygiene among others.
We can assure you and any guest of Hotel Presidential the most comfortable and Hygienic stay in Port Harcourt.
We remain happy to receive you at any time for the best service in Port Harcourt.

I stayed here with my boyfriend as we were visiting friends in PH. PH was nice and cool! like a mini lagos...bursting with energy. same cant be said of the hotel. whilst it was clean and comfortable u could tell that the best days of the hotel were behind it. on the whole pretty average.

Stayed at the presidential not so long ago. The security (it is what matters in the Niger Delta) is excellent. I was surprised to see how a whole wing was renovated from crapy rooms to international standard rooms. I understand the price as everything is expensive in Nigeria. Try staying at the Meridien or the Novotel. Prices there are much higher. Food is the best in town although i would recommend they work on their lunch and dinner menues in the hotel restaurant. The chinese isn't so bad and the other restaurant (can't recall the name) offers great food. Try calling the chef and asking him for your favorite dish, He'll do it with pleasure.

This was a good looking hotel about 20 years ago. Sadly lack of investment has allowed it to slowly deteriorate, although the prices are still high.
The rooms are adequate if you are only staying a night or two, any more than that I would suggest finding another hotel.
Breakfast is by far the best deal. It is fresh and eat as much as you want.
The Chinese resturant is nothing to write home about. Your local Chinese is better.

Stayed at the Presidential Hotel for two nights. Really enjoyed the excellent food in restaurants, excellent choice, taste and friendly service. Hotel requires TLC and upgrade for Expat guests to reach a better standard. Rooms are basic with ensuites that have the wrong sized plug, tiles missing and old air con. Towels were shabby and room service terrible. Ordered breakfast in room on both mornings and nothing arrived the first day. Ensured the charge was removed from my bill. The second morning I had to call. What with the poor room service the waiter requested a tip and when I repeated his words and said that I was not smiling today he removed the fruit juice carton which was not ordered. Gratitude, management require to include additional staff training. Generally the staffs were very pleasant. Ok no thrills accommodation does the job but do not expect the world. Other hotels visited were more modern and busier but service was extremely slow and thus ruined the experience waiting.
Fair security on site, never felt concerned. Generally a quiet hotel. Question? Would I go back, yes if no other choice but I intend to shop about on my next trip.

This could be a splendid hotel if the management took service and upkeep seriously. It is generally shabby and though the rooms are reasonably clean one can bank on at least one feature not working or being sub-standard on any one visit - lights, plugs in the tub and basin, often-threadbare towels and sheets. In three stays in recent years the air-conditioning has never been reliable - breakdowns are frequent and rooms can be swelteringly hot and uncomfortable. (The airco-maintenance staff are very willing but deserve better support). Public spaces are bare and unwelcoming in appearance and service is slow, though generally cheerful. Front-desk staff are often abrupt and give the impression they are condescending to do the guest a service. The water in the swimming pool is a light but murky bottle-green and the circulation system seems to have given up - don't even think of risking it! Breakfast is a rip-off: reluctant staff, miserable food and a price in excess of what most local families subsist for a day on. The Chinese and Lebanese Restaurants in the complex are however excellent - highly recommended. For what it delivers the Presidential is expensive in the extreme.
