Agree with the other reviewers, the beach and location were stunning and the best we saw on the island. The beach is sheltered and calm and great for swimming and snorkelling. The accommodation is set in a beautiful garden of palm trees, with deck chairs allowing you to listen to the birds and (frequent) falling coconuts! We stayed in 2 garden bungalows which were fine, good solid buildings, tv (only one channel in english). the main difference with the more expensive bungalows were a bath/shower combo which was a little tired but perfectly functional. Food at the hotel was good to excellent, although a lack of options at some meals.
Unfortunately a nearby cyclone meant the weather was poor and so we spent more time off the beach and on contact with staff... Who varied from being outright rude to unresponsive. Many questions were answered with 'thats not possible' without alternative suggestions. Meals took an age... We'd wait a long time to even be welcomed, then would have to ask 3 or 4 times for drinks and then varying combinations of the drinks would appear on the bill and we'd have to spend time in our pigeon French trying to explain back to them. The exception to this was the excellent bar manager who was great and was frantically running around trying to instil some order. As stated above the standard of the food was great but it is expensive which for dinner is fine but there were a lack of snack or lunch options at a reasonable price.
So.. We tried to go to a shop to buy supplies. Thought we'd cycle but there are only 3 adult bikes which was unhelpful for 4 adults. So we walked, received little instruction from reception... But eventually found a shop about 20 mins away (go left, carry on the main rd rather than turning off for the ferry, go past the service station and come to a T junction where you then go right and the shop is 100m up on the left). Unfortunately the shop didn't have any fruit or veggies but plenty of chips, nuts etc.
The beach hut wasnt manned at the stated hours whilst we were there and there seemed to be a shortage of towels. Overall tho we managed everything we needed.
We were there for New Years and that did a great job with music and fireworks on the beach - was a highlight.
It could be really top hotel but needs better management and training for staff. Feel it's a bit lazy for the price.
