We have to say what a terrible time we had here. There was an outbreak of gastro at the resort. The hotel told us it was contaminated water source, without a single apology! We spent the entire time in bed sick. They still charged us the full price of our stay even though they admitted to being the source of the contamination.
I certainly did not expect such poor standards and service from a very expensive resort.
Totally ruined our honeymoon. I am not impressed at all.

Dear Jasmindm,
Thank you for you posting which we read with much concern and we are very sorry that experience at Le Meridien Ile des Pins obviously did not up to your expectations.
Since your departure we have learnt that due to heavy rains on the Isle of Pines and the subsequent very hot temperatures, the quality of the island’s treated water was affected.
What we originally thought was a problem only at Le Méridien Ile des Pins has now been confirmed as having unfortunately affected many people on the island.
Consequently, since the middle of last week, the hotel has been re-treating the water distributed by the local municipality and placed bottled water in guests’ rooms free of charge.
The situation is now under control however, until such time as we obtain an official confirmation from the local authorities that the water is again safe to drink, bottled water will continue to be offered to guests.
We also hope that you may understand that in our frustration at trying to find the cause of this problem, we may have not been sufficiently attentive to your needs.
We wish to therefore apologies for what was perceived as a lack of empathy for your well-being on the part of our staff as the health and safety of our guests is always our prime concern.
Thank you for your comments and we would be happy to respond to any further queries you may have through direct contact.
Best regards,

I travel with "holiday with friend" Trough no fault of our own we were booked in a garden room with a king size bed when we had requested twin beds. I always believe that one should not bite the hand who feed them and instead of wanting to charge us 7900 PF should have as good will gesture put a rollerbed in our room and not charged us as we certainly were not having anybody else sleeping in our room. Also when you received our booking why did not email the travel agent and point out to them that the room booked only came with a king size bed.

Dear Carolyn2154,
First of all, thank you for sharing with us your experience in Le Méridien Ile des Pins.
As we explained below to your friend Monique2126, the room type booked for your stay by your travel agency was a superior room and our agreements with our partners clearly indicate that this room type does only offer king beds.
No request for twin beds appears on the booking we received from your agency. If it was the case, we would have told the agency that the room type requested was not the right choice. But we don’t email travel agencies when we receive this type of bookings as it happens that same gender guests wish to share the same bed. We recognize our mistakes, but this one was not ours.
However we truly apologize for being tactless asking at first for a supplement for the extra bed, which was not charged of course.
Once again, we are sorry for the disappointment this has caused you and we hope that you will consider staying with us again.
Sincerely,

We encountered problems when we booked in. We had difficulty to understand either in english or in french the receptionist who greeted us. We both live in Australia and it does really gets hot here and this lady told us in a condescending way "you need to dring plenty of water as it is very hot here" .When we checked our room we were told that we were in a KING size room. When we explained that we did request twin beds we were told that none were available as the hotel was fully booked, but we could have a rollaway bed in our room and it would cost us an extra 7900XPF per night. We then emailed our travel agent and went for lunch. We went to our room after 2 PM and did find out that rolleraway bed had been installed. With no information given we had to ask if we needed to pay "no" was the answer. Total lack of information from the hotel as our travel agent that is the one who sorted out our problem.

Bonjour Monique2126,
We wish to thank you for sharing your impressions about your stay. Both positive and negative feedback is valuable to us as this is the best way to improve our product and our services.
We pride ourselves on a friendly and welcoming staff who endeavor to assist in any way to make our guests’ stay more comfortable and we are extremely sorry if you sensed some inconsistencies on this occasion.
Meanwhile, we would like to explain that the room type booked for your stay by your travel agency was a superior room and our agreements with our partners clearly indicate that this room type does only offer king beds. Unfortunately due to high occupancy rate during your stay no other room type was available, this is why the only solution was to offer an extra bed.
However we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you for a future stay and we will be glad to help you discover and enjoy the comfort and charm of Le Méridien Isle of Pines.
Best regards,

Stunning location and great rooms and grounds. The tall araucaria pines give it a unique landscape. Generally friendly staff particularly in restaurant. It is good to have a car for a day to see around the island. Tidal beach in front of hotel so not good for swimming right there but can walk to other swimming spots. The natural aquarium close by is very nice and the best and easiest time to walk there is at low tide. Restaurant menu could have more variety for lunches because of its isolated location and yogurt would be good to have for breakfasts.

Absolutely stunning location that simply cannot be capture in the photos on here. Only a 30 minute walk to the amazing natural pool, this is by far the best location for a hotel on Ile de Pines. After reading some of the other reviews I must say that their service and restaurant must have seen some major improvements lately. The buffet dinner was one of the best I have ever had, the al carte menu was very nice and the buffet breakfast was great. Staff were always very friendly and happy to help. Expect to spend the majority of your time (and all of your meals) at the hotel because there are very few other options and you have to travel a long way to find them. The hotel offers a variety of day activities that are well organised and reasonably priced. My only criticism (and very few places around the world seem to be able to offer this) is that wireless internet is only available in the lobby and restaurant, is very slow and costs over AUD$5/hour. I will definately be returning. One tip to future visitors - bring everything you need because things like sunscreen will set you back ~$25AUD a bottle if you forget it and book transfers from Magenta airport to your Noumea accomodation because taxis are hard to come by in Noumea.

Bonjour Topbloke87,
Thank you very much for your numerous positive comments which we shared with our team. It is very rewarding for us to know that you enjoyed your stay at Le Méridien Ile des Pins and we would like to thank you for sharing it. We are delighted to know that our efforts are notable!
Concerning the wireless internet, Oro’s bay isn’t linked to the DSL by the provider yet, this is why we just have one WIFI spot in the lounge at this point. But we have great hopes to see the situation evolve shortly!
We are looking forward to welcoming you again soon!
A bientôt,
