Recommended length of visit: More than 3 hours
Owner description: Sandwich Harbour is a part of the Namib Naukluft Park (Namibia) many have heard of but very few have ever visited. Giant sand dunes run straight into the ocean, creating breathtaking sceneries and a unique off road driving experience. Our vehicles take you to beautiful lookouts where you can feel the isolation Namibia and the Skeleton Coast are so famous for! We offer full and have day trips to Sandwich Harbour, as well as combination tours with Boat trips and Kayaking.

“Desert is cooler than dessert”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Had a fantastic day trip with amazing guides, dune riding, wildlife and general exploration. Our guide Benny was fun, cheerful and informed, and we saw some awesome things! Even more amazingly, we were served oysters and champagne on the top of a desert sand dune - a never to be forgotten experience!

“Fantastic Half Day Tour - greatly recommended and a 'must-do' if in Swakopmund”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

We took a half day tour on 28 November 2012. Our driver and guide Nico gave us a fantasic ride, pointing out animals and sea monsters (well, seals!), plant life, geology and answering our never ending questions about Namibia, dune driving and whatever subject mentioned. The the misty start on the drive along the edge of the sea gave it a bit of an eery impression of what the early sea farers must have experienced when they first entered Sandwich Harbour. The champagne and oyster breakfast on the edge of the bay was well received and eased us into the subsequent racing up and down the steep dunes in the Landy, sometimes even in reverse. By then the sun was out and the dunes looked amazing. Nico's driving style and explanations prompted me to later do a bit of sand driving myself at Sossusvlei, although just on level ground. The Walvis Bay salt pans and factory operations were also explained in detail. All in all a tour never to be forgotten

“Incredible discovery of the dunes with Jens as knowlegeable and amusing guide”
Reviewed December 9, 2012

On November 29th 2012 we had a fantastic half day trip to Sandwich harbor and the dunes in a 4x4. Exciting dune riding (better than DisneyLand), discovery of fantastic, never to be forgotten, scenery, lots of info and anecdotes from Jens our guide. I remember him stopping the 4x4, jumping down and digging in the sand to show us a desert sand living lizard. To top it off - he laid a tablecloth on the bonnet of the 4x4 and served us Walvis Bay oysters and champagne in the middle of the desert.

“Just pure awesomeness”
Reviewed November 26, 2012 via mobile

One of the greatest experiences...a definite must - do. Jens, our guide was incredible. After we got off the Catamaran he took us onto a crazy dune ride filled with excitement. My Dad and his 2 Friends who flew in from Germany and joined us, were amazed by the nature and especially the passion Jens had while showing us the living side of the desert...just bliss. Sandwich Harbour, you rock!!!

“A fantastic day with Jens as a desert guide”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

On the 6th of November 2012 we had a fantastic day. Half a day in the bay on a boat and half a day to Sandwich harbor and the dunes with a 4x4. Both at sea and in the desert we leared a lot about the Oeysters (never tasted better in the Desert for lunch), the seals, the dolphins and the birds. But Jens took us to the secrets of the desert. Reptiles, insects, jackhals, and eatable plants was not what we expected in a pile of sand. We had seen some photo's of a down hill ride of about 100m high and 36°steep, but we did not expect that we would do that during this trip. Do not try this by yourself! The sea shore is unpredictable and driving in the dunes is only for specialists; Jens is the guide you need.
