We stayed 3 nights at the Stiltz in Swakop. Staying in Swakop usually comes with a lot of activities - spending the night in the Stiltz however feels like still being in the desert. Wonderfully arranged venue, high above a ground, with a view on the Atlantic Ocean (comes with the sound a fresh smell of it!).

Wonderful breakfast in the main building make the stay special. The staff was very helpful in organizing trips in and around the city (however, be reminded that depending on the weather most of the trips can only be enjoyed in the morning.)

spacious wooden bungalows on stilts. Ocean view (a bit far), and view on the dunes (of course). A lot of birds near our bungalow. A weaver was building his nest a few meters from our bungalow. A nice environment Supurb breakfast. A lot of good restaurants on walking distance. we had diner in Europa Hof. They serve a variety of meat. we ate warthog and eland. Super.

Room Tip: every bungalow is beautiful

Having arrived in Swakop and after getting over the shock of it being so cold compared to elsewhere in Namibia we were delighted with the Stiltz - especially the electric blanket! We were very well looked after - the breakfast was super and you could choose what you fancied egg wise, which is always a nice touch. It's a wee bit out of town, but a short 10 minute walk and you're in the middle of things. The walk also takes you along the water and through some beautiful gardens, so very nice indeed.
The bed was extremely comfy with all the amenities you'd expect - shower good, laundry service extremely quick - I decided to 'de-sand' some of my clothes and took the opportunity while at the Stlitz and they brought it back within hours.
While in Swakop this is a great place to base yourself...and you get to see all the lovely birds as an added bonus...

The Stiltz is very nice Lodge type of hotel on the edge of Swakopmund only 200 meters from the sea. The staff was super friendly and always willing to help and assist. Nothing was too much for them. The Chalets are very spacious with great views of the Swakop river towards the sea. The only thing I did not like in the room was that the bathroom was only separated by a curtain. Not very private. The Breakfast Buffet was not very extensive but was very tasty. The rooms where very clean and so was the breakfast buffet and it was a pleasure to enjoy the breakfast every morning. My only comment was that they where frying a lot of onions and the smell was not the nicest thing first thing in the morning. The reception staff went out of their way to assist with dinner bookings and made some very good recommendations as it was high season and most restaurants very fully booked. On departure the management also gave us some good tips which roads to take to our next destination. They also assisted with booking tours and advised us well on what tours to take. Would I return? For sure.

Room Tip: Make sure you book rooms with view to the sea

We chose the Stiltz as it boasted good views over the Swakop river estuary and were not dissappointed. The river was dry at the time of our visit but there was still plenty of beach to look at and the location was fairly unique in a town of this size.
As the name implies the 'chalets' are built on Stilts and each has a sitting out porch with various views. Our agent had requested Lagoon views and we had rooms 7 & 8 at the far end of the 'walkway' as close to the lagoon as was possible. Well constructed in wood but beautifuly furnished and extremely well equipped. We loved this place.
There is no restaurant but this was no hardship as there are plenty of places to eat in Swakopmund town centre which is but a short walk away. (We used Kucki's and Zum Kaiser so see reviews) Reception will happily make bookings (and recommendations) for you on request. Breakfasts are served in another wooden building and prepared to order.
We had three nights here and could have stayed longer as there is plenty to do in the area.

Room Tip: If you are interested in birdlife take a lagoon view (7&8). Heck even if you don't care for...

The chalets/rooms on stilts looking out to sea. Lovely idea. Furnishing is simple and tasteful. A number of african wooden sticks serve as decoration. Beds are hard but amazingly comfortable. The constant sound of breaking waves helps one to sleep beautifully. The wholestructure is wood with high thatch roof. Equipped with small minibar and tea/coffe making facility. One draw back as to design is a shower and toiled that is separated from the bedrum by a flimsy curtain. Personally, to my mind, that brings a toilet into the bedroom/living room. There is nothing romantic or beautiful about hearing someone go to the toilet. Whilst I am aware of that (glad to say passing trend) that really is a minus for me. The other minus also is an almost total lack of amenities in the shower/toilet. One shampoo-showergell screwed to the shower wall and a very cheap looking liquid soap next to the washbasin. No showercap, no conditioner, no body lotion, no facecloth, no cotton puffs, cotton buds etc... Absolutely nothing but the ABSOLUTE minimum. It would have been wise to up the price by 10 dollars and include at least a conditioner and body lotion.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms have a better view but are otherwise absolutely the same as the rest.

Love the accommodation, the service is tops. Breakfast is delicious and something I look forward to each morning! The view is stunning, it's quite and peaceful. You would definitely not make a mistake staying here!

Room Tip: The big villa is the best, but it sleeps 6.
