Description: This is NOT the pub at the beach, but an Italian restaurant INSIDE the actual lighthouse.
Reviewed November 27, 2013

This restaurant inside the buildings of the actual lighthouse is the standard that most other swakopmund restaurants really should be aiming for. Friendly attentive service, great ambience, good honest decent food and fair prices.

Our waiter seemed to be allowed only to wear the name badge saying "Trainee" but he did a great job.

One member of our party is vegan and she loved her starter of vegetables in a tempura batter. She also ordered the vegetarian pizza with no cheese, but extra olives, and again really enjoyed it. Nice thin pizza base. Another friend had the vegetarian pizza with the usual cheese, and enjoyed that too. The rest of the group had an assortment of meat and fish dishes which were all very good and satisfying.

The home made ice-cream is worthy of a special mention. I tried the pistachio, vanilla and lemon. All brilliant.

This restaurant is likely to continue to get busier and busier if it keeps being great, so booking is going to become essential I suspect.

We ate here on our first day in Swakopmund and loved the location and the food. It has a high spot looking over the ocean and there are seats outside on the lawn as well as indoors. Mixture of local and European food. Seafood good. Well worth a visit if you are in town

WE came two years ago, discovered the @22 Degrees South@ and enjoyed this place tremendously: we had fresh delicious oysters plus a crisp white wine for our lunch and not only once but several times...- just sitting below the lighthouse with a great view and nice relaxed itaian feel! (yes, the tiramisu had been frozen, and the (new) staff was confused how it was supposed to be....- The story of the owners is neat too....- Now we can't wait to return in about two weeks and we shall give the Tiramisu another try! Ciao! - see you soon!

This is a lovely restaurant that serves the best Italian food. The lasagne is amazing - as are the pizzas - and the tiramisu is probably the best I've eaten. Again, turned up without a booking but was accommodated. The owner is friendly and the service attentive and efficient but not intrusive

We will forgive the trainee waiter who has much to learn as at least he tried, and the food made up for any clunkiness ;-)

Starter of prawns was not quite right in terms of what we expect from Italian food, lacking the garlic and basil mentioned in the menu, but the main courses were excellent. Be warned, they charge for the Parmesan for the pasta, unlike in Europe.

But one of the best meals we have had in Namibia
