View is very nice, service excellent, but food and drinks were quite bad in fact.
The vanilla ice in the iced chocolate was refrozen and very crunchy and the filling of the bee-sting cake started to be rancid. The strawberry cake was OK.
If I will come again, I would rather take a coke or a tea, but maybe we just had bad luck.

The check-in on Saturday 12th October was very quick and professional - no problems there. I agree with Susan116 - the staff were 'lolling' around the cake counter - horrors - one was picking her teeth. There was zero interest from the waitrons! We decided not to order a pastry after all.... Room 10 AVOID AT ALL COSTS. It is sooooooo depressing - very dark and dingy and enough to make you want to check-out immediately. I went downstairs and our multi-tasking check-in man was so understanding - he immediately upgraded us to a bright, sunny, sea facing room. No additional charge either. What a difference that made. The fact that the décor hasn't changed in 30 years is noteworthy - how does one sustain operating in a time warp? It was clean and functional though. Note: the mattresses are lumpy and need replacing. I'm sure our mattresses were no better or worse than the ones in the other rooms. Also, avoid at all costs the decaf cappuccino - it's undrinkable. My coffee and cake theory went out of the window there. I remembered the waitron picking her teeth and figured I could wait until dinner! Breakfast was fine, no bells or whistles, but we had enough to eat and they aimed to keep continental and English breakfasters happy - and succeeded. The waitrons were efficient - male for the breakfast run - a big improvement on the lolling ladies of Saturday afternoon. Next visit to Swakop - definitely a 5 star hotel - we do like our comforts, especially when travelling. It all depends what your wish list is - a lot of the breakfasters did not look unduly dissatisfied. The majority of the guests had finished breakfast by 8am ....all off on their travels?

Second visit here, and things are about the same. The choice of desserts is a dream and the coffee is great. Great view, worth a visit but the staff doesn't seem to happy to be there.

Inexpensive buffet breakfast. Good selection of food - hot and cold - at a reasonable price. helpful staff too. Some sea views. Dated furniture and decor. Great selection of cakes and pastries to take away as well.

We ordered a cappucino, but we got normal (old) coffee with fome. Terrible taste!
A croissant with ham, was smaller then the palm of your hand and the appelpie, was cold, and really taste less. The waiter Doreen did not spoke to us at all, perhaps she had no voice???
A pitty we went there, bad food, coffee and pasteries and mo service at all.
Donot waist your money there!
And very expensive also!
