“Long weekend Dec 12”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

We arrived in the afternoon and was welcomed by Jockel. We had a normal room and the family cottage.

The house is really decorated with attention to detail, a fruit bowl, nice wine selection, sherry for aperitif (this is based on a honesty bar principle) and with so few rooms you really feel like making yourself at home in the sitting room!

I just love the feeling of warm wooden floors, white linen and dark wood used throughout the guesthouse. All rooms had tea/coffee facilities, flat screen TV with variety of programs, hair dryers and luxury towels and down duvets! A honesty bar is conveniently located upstairs in the corridor at the rooms and the prices is very reasonable for snacks and drinks! Some got shower and some a shower inside a bathtub.

The family cottage is the exact opposite with a sea feeling, all whitewashed furniture and big windows. Can comfortably sleep a family of 4 or even 4 adults (2 x Queen beds in separate rooms, sharing a bathroom). Although for small babies, not cot but can be done on request. It's go it's own mini bar, and big bathroom with bath and shower.

All rooms is no smoking, with a smokers area situated outside on the terrace.

Breakfast was exceptional, a variety of continental dishes (cheese, yoghurt, cold meats etc) and warm to order freshly, including pancakes for the children. Coffee was fresh and plenty!

I loved the attention to detail, like a basket with shoe brushes etc shows someone cares. There is also safe parking available on the premises, it is a bit far to walk to the beach but close to town center and a number of restaurants.

Overall, although there is cheaper options available this is quality through and through and definitely worth staying at.

Room Tip: Family Cottage can be shared by 3 or 4 adults, if prepared to share a bathroom. Room 4 is the big...

Dear AfricanProfileSaf,

thank you for that wonderful and detailed review. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and that our small extra details were noticed and appreciated. For our guests we do have mini bars with snacks and drinks for which a fee is charged, but the coffee, tea and the sherry is complimentary.
Wishing you all the best and hope to see you again.

Kind regards

We had an overnight stop here en route from Damaraland to Sossusvlei. The room was nice, we were upstairs. We had the best breakfast of cinnamon pancakes the next morning, nicest breakfast we had on our trip actually. The owner of the guesthouse is a lovely woman who had a long chat with my husband and I the day we arrived. Nice little place.

We stayed here just one night in the comfy & very clean family room. The owner Monica was very welcoming & friendly. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast with made to order eggs, yummy carrot bread, & the guava & passion fruit jams were amazingly fresh & delicious! We liked the portable heater in the room; honesty minibar & snacks were available in our room. Internet access was available although slow. Would definitely recommend this place for a family with kids.

We stayed at this really homely guesthouse for two nights, located in a residential area. The owners are so welcoming, rooms are spacious and breakfast is lovely! You can easily walk to the seafront or into town in less than 10 minutes. Secure parking is also available and the staff can arrange excursions on your behalf.

My wife and I are from the US, and we thought this place was great. Really fantastic, modern rooms, and a terrific breakfast. Internet was too slow to work, but otherwise everything was terrific. No A/C, but you don't need that in Swakop. Like most places in Swakop it seems, when you book a double bed you actually get two singles pushed together, which is nonsense, but this seems standard for the town. Great place!

Room Tip: the large family room near the parking lot has a great shower!

The Central Guesthouse is a very nice and modern guesthouse in a convenient area of Swakopmund. After several days touring the Namibian deserts it was a real joy to return to the much cooler temperatures and lovely sea air of Swakopmund.  We were warmly greeted by Verna who, throughout our unfortunately short stay of only two nights, was incredibly kind and helpful with shopping and dining advice, together with helping us sort out a serious and unexpected transportation problem.
The rooms and bathrooms were very comfortable, modern, and impeccably clean.  They also have free wifi access which is much appreciated.
The breakfast offered was very good with a wide selection of items and, since we arrived rather exhausted, the offer of tea and refreshments was excellent. A mini bar was available in a small pantry area between our two rooms. The rooms themselves had good beds, storage, TV, and roomy safe.
Verna's recommendation on dining in Swakopmund was exactly what we needed!
Definitely the place to stay if in Swakopmund which is one of my favourite parts of Namibia.

Room Tip: There are rooms on the ground floor and upstairs to choose from.

Dear NotTooLate from Canada

Thank you so very much for your wonderful review. Verna's (Manager) vast amount of knowledge and experience is a valuable asset to our small establishment and we are pleased to hear that all which was suggested was also enjoyed. Swakopmund has a lot to offer and hearing someone say that it's one of their favorite parts in Namibia puts a smile on any locals face. Thank you again and we wish you all the best.

We stayed with our adult sons for 3 nights in September 2011. The first morning, we had an early activity in walvis bay and breakfast was provided half an hour earlier than normal, very welcome indeed. The building is austere from outside, but is very nice indeed inside and spotless. We were helped to choose restaurants for dinner, reservations made for us and confirmations made for pre booked activities. Good breakfasts. On the day we left, they suggested we filled rolls from the breakfast buffet for lunch, and gave us sealed bags for them without charge. Altogether excellent. I cannot think of a single fault and would recmmend it highly.
