“Needs Some Care and attention”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2012

Arrived early aternoon - within view of the sea and imposing house. Room we were allocated was at the back of the house. Roman blinds were broken - cords worn out - so could not operate . Modern light fixture over bed had broken lamps and exposed wireing. Light over basin not working. Only one easy chair and no table for to have tea at. Insufficient towels.
Basin not cleaned around base. The one member of staff on duty did what she could to fix
our complaints. Referred matter to manager following morning. We were moved to a new much bigger brighter room on first floor - everything was perfect ! We enjoyed the rest of our stay, free Wi.Fi and Gift box. The lift is at present not working but is due to be fixed soon ?
Staff were very helpful and were sorry for the initial problems. Some refurbishment is due in the future. We would be happy to return and in fact went on to the Protea Hotel in Walvis Bay.

Room Tip: Ask for an upstairs room

A lovely surprise and a return to civilization after the safari portion of the trip!
The hotel is small with only 7 or 8 rooms. The building obviously used to be a majestic modern beach house that has been converted - due to this you still have the large open plan living room, kitchen and conservatory as common areas, which are great. Our room was spotless, large and came with Satellite TV , fridge, tea/coffe facilities but no air con.
The hotel is located about 1 km from downtown Swakopmund which can be walked in 15mins along the very plesant promenade and beach. In town you can find some great restaurants and plentiful shops.
The receptionist was available 24hrs and was very helpful organising a boat trip at Walvis bay, which although seemed expensive turned out to be wel worth it as it included a free lick up at the hotel and plentiful food and alcohol on board!!!
Due to the hotel being small and located 1km from the main street the price was cheap and represented amazing value and comfort. There is plenty of parking off street outside.
Stay here and be surprised! You can book on the Protea website.
