The Villa Magherita is in a charming historic colonial building nearby to all sights of Swakopmund. Stepping insight, is stepping into a different century. Each room of the main part is nicely decorated and arranged with love for details.
We had the “Adam and Eve” room with a large bed-room, a small sitting room and a spacious bath with bath-tube and separate shower.
The staff is very friendly and helpful and is happy to arrange a table for dinner or bookings for entertainment for you.
The breakfast is served and consists of fresh bread and rolls, jam and then you can order whatever you like e.g. fresh fruit salad, eggs and especially the pancakes with cinnamon and sugar are fantastic.
The car can be parked directly at the hotel.
The inner garden is beautiful for relaxation and there are little birds for you to watch.
We enjoyed our stay very much.

We were booked to stay 2 nights in this hotel, but stayed one night longer. After loads of long distance travelling, it was wonderful to arrive at a "home". The welcome couldn't have been more friendly and the room and bathroom full of little touches, with homemade soaps and local products (all very good).

After the stress of driving for so many hours, my husband booked a massage - and said it was the best one he has had in his life!

Swakopmund is quite small, so for the 3 nights there, we would walk out to dinner and then get a taxi back.

The breakfast is wonderful, didn't try dinner.

Would certainly go back again, even if only to see the staff, who were welcoming, helpful, friendly...that's why we cancelled a lodge, just to stay an extra night, Well done!

Room Tip: We were given the "Romeo and Juliet" room - perfect

This villa Margherita is a good B&B and have for us a large room(King room) with a good bed and everything You may need. There are no extra's like coffee or tea maker and no minibar.
We love the very charming waitress, she does everything You ask with a smile. The breakfast is very good, also the dinner we have ordered.

Room Tip: King room is a very large room

Villa Marherita, is exactly the type of place you need to stay at when in Swakopmund. It is walking distance to the beach shops and main restaurants but on a quiet road so you are out of the hustle and bustle. the rooms have a great feel and are very big and comfortable. All the staff were friendly and willing to help in every regard. The wi fi range could be extended as I needed to move into a corner to get signal. the garden is small and cute with plenty of birds to keep you entertained. A truly charming guesthouse.

Room Tip: choose a room in the main house to have a good wi fi signal

Regrettably our (dis)satisfaction with this establishment can't be reflected in the Tripadvisor star system. The furnishings, decorations, spaciousness, etc. are impeccable but some of the basics for a satisfactory stay were strangely missing. There are no drinks, tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms but staff assured us there is room service for such things. However, there are no phones or intercoms in the rooms so this meant going downstairs to find a member of staff to order such things. Service is then only available from 07:00 until 21:00. An early morning tea is ‘out’ unless you don’t mind waiting until after 7 then wandering downstairs in your pyjamas. An after-dinner coffee is not possible unless you get back before 21:00.

The bed was equipped with only one pillow per guest, whereas virtually every other hotel/guest house we have ever stayed at provides at least two. Our room (‘King’) had a second bedroom so we were able to ‘steal’ extra pillows from there. An electric blanket was an unexpected and pleasant feature which made up for the completely inadequate room heating - a very small plug-in convector heater for a large bedroom.

The so-called in-house restaurant ‘Il Tulipano’ is no more than the rather stark guesthouse dining room, with no proper menu. A rather pretentious item rested on a music stand in the dining room advising that dinners are cooked when pre-booked, by the ‘slow method’ using available ingredients such as (undefined) meat and tuna. Not surprisingly, we didn’t eat there and there were no signs of others having partaken.
Breakfast is designed primarily for ‘continental’ guests, who probably make up the overwhelming majority of their European visitors. Although cooked breakfast options are available and freely offered, they were not able to provide toasted bread: the best on offer was to cut a roll in half and toast that. Every other establishment we've stayed at in Namibia did toast.

Although the staff were generally efficient we felt there was a lack of genuineness in the smiles. We sensed the offers to book excursions, taxis, restaurants, etc. during the arrival briefing were mechanical and possibly driven by kick-backs more than a desire to help.
Later on our trip round Namibia we met a (Swiss) couple who had also stayed at the Villa and they had been extremely pleased with their stay, but it wasn’t for us.

Room Tip: Can't really comment on which rooms are best as we experienced only 'King' on the fist f...

At first I was skeptical. I did not expect such a warm and kind welcome in a town like Swakopmund. Villamargherita impressed me positively. The rooms are clean and very well furnished. The TV is slightly small but after two weeks of travelling in the bush neither me or my wife cared. All we wanted was to reconnect with the rest of the world, and that was possible thanks to the free wifi access. Every room is different, and each one of them has its own special characteristics. My wife and I stayed in the Romeo & Juliet, which had a balcony and a very spacious bathroom. While discursing with other fellow guests we were pleased to discover that the high standard we found in the Romeo & Juliet is evident in all of the other rooms. Therefore, despite being artistically unusual, it manages to maintain a very high quality standards throughout, regardless of which room has been allocated to you. Breakfast was good, nothing was missing and the service was excellent. Smiles and kind remarks from the staff were appreciated. Overall we received a very warm welcome, and we could not be more satisfied with Villamargherita! :)

This charming little hotel in Swakopmund is really very good value for money.
The service is very good, you feel very welcome when you enter the beautiful Villa.
The rooms are a bit small, but very cosy and with nice interiors.

Breakfast is hugely enjoyable, with some great coffee and served with a big smile.
Lovely garden full of weaver birds and bird baths.

Possibility for dinner or lunch.
Parking space available.

Close to the center of the town, so you can do a walking tour from the Villa with ease

We were very happy with this place, as we didn't want to do the bigger resorts/hotels in Swakopmund.

A hidden gem !
