“A place of rare charm and character”
Reviewed January 21, 2011

Lunetoile is a beautifully restored traditional riad within the medina walls. There is attention to detail everywhere from the extremely comfortable rooms to the very pleasant roof terrace.
It is clear that the management really cares whether your stay is enjoyable and the service and information is second to none. All this and the room rates in January are unbeatable.

I would recommend Lunetoile to anyone seeking character, quality and good value. By far the best hotel I have stayed in in Morocco.

My goodness! What a compliment! "By far the best hotel I have stayed in, in Morocco"!
This is praise, indeed, and yes - we REALLY DO CARE!
Thank you so very much for the wonderful write-up, and, of course, for your visit. We look forward to your return, and I will pass on this praise to Kabira and Latifa, who will be thrilled.
Thanks, Sue

Sue has given a lot of thought and energy to creating this little oasis of peace and quiet. The special rooms are absolutely wonderful - but you do need to book. We had left it a little late, nonetheless our room was perfect for us.

Sue was extremely helpful with advice for lunch and dinner and a general introduction to the city. Her breakfast is evil - the croissants are delicious and irresistible!

We were met just outside the city gate (where we had parked the car) and led to the riad - a real help. Kabira and Latifa were most hospitable.

We could only spend one night in Essaouira, but this was the perfect place to stay. Thank you Sue.

Lovely little riad. We had a very relaxing week or so here in room 4, falling asleep to the sound of the sea was such a treat and the breakfasts were delicious! I miss those fresh croissants and yummy juice! The rooftop terrace is particularly nice, we enjoyed sitting in the little sunhouse (not sure if thats the word, but seems appropriate!) and reading on the comfy sofas - admiring the view of sea, soaring seagulls and higgledy piggledy Morrocan rooftops!

Essaouira is alot calmer than Marrakech, and without a car to explore the surrounding countryside you may find yourselves getting a little fidgety as we did! But Lunetoille was the perfect place for lazy days and Sue was extremely helpful in suggesting things to do.

Wil definately recommend to all our friends!

Thanks for the honeymoon visit, and should you ever decide to com back with a rented car, there are some beautiful places to go to, (which, I think, I may have suggested to you?) Morocco is the most wonderful country to travel around, but, distances are enormous, so, a little more time is required - plus a car! Or, if taking public transport - a lot more time!

Thanks again, for taking the time to write a comment...which is much appreciated by us all, at Lunetoile

Lunetoille is a small Riad style establishment in the heart of the Essaouira Medina. Sue the proprietor was very welcoming and informative on our arrival and her house manager Kabira was a star - extremely helpful and charming with it! Its worth paying a little extra for the larger ensuite rooms on the 1st floor, but the smaller ground floor rooms are perfectly comfortable with character. Breakfast on the roof terrace overlooking the Atlantic was a great start to the day - the accom is about 50yds from the sea walls! The exterior is a little worn and needs a lick of paint but this was a small gripe in what was generally a property full of character. We planned to stay 2 days at Lunetoille and end up staying 4, so guess thats says we enjoyed the experience!

Hi...thank you so much for your comments...re the outside of the buidling 'needing a lick of paint'...yes, you are quite correct...and this will be done, as soon as poss. We do have to have authorisation for this, as we are on the main street, and so we cannot disrupt the normal flow of pedestrians....but, one day soon,it will be done. Actually, living in an old historic medina, allows certain imperfections, which indeed, add credibility and atmosphere to the town...and in no way, in our opinion, detracts from any of the aesthetics of Lunetoile. LUCKILY!!! And luckily, you loved it...as, inside our little gem, one is well looked after, and the constant upkeep of the building is evident.

So, thanks once again for your visit and your comments...and we are so happy that 2 days turned into 4....and so on and so on.... from Sue and the girls at Lunetoile

Sue really great and helpful, All the staff so lovely. Rooms gorgeous and really good value for money. A real haven...The roof is great, and little sun room was great when it rained. Nice to read a book there.

One tip: don't go to the internet cafe just around the corner from the B&B. They rip off tourists and are pretty sly. Had an argument with them. However, if you do go there, ask to see their rates, and write down the time and give them exactly that money. But my opinion is that there are others that are better value for money and deserve your money ...

Thanks for the lovely write-up...it was a pleasure having you to stay at Lunetoile.

Thank you also, for the internet tip-off!! WOW! I went passed there, and spoke quite strongly to them - and - guess what? There is a 'price list', but, I'm guessing, it's only for tourists, and it is not displayed, but only shown, when asked, to justify the prices!!Hmmmmm

So - as you may know - we DO have WIFI - for which we charge the huge amount of 10dhms per night you stay with us....so - next time, bring a little I Pad or I Phone or Blackberry or ,or, or....and surf with us on our wifi.....nearly free! Thanks - Sue

I stayed in the Lunetoile for just one night and would have loved to stay longer!! Sue gave me a very nice welcome and so did the staff. Its a wonderful place in a wonderful town. The rooms (i looked in all of them cause i m a travel agent...) are all different and special in their own way. Everything is very clean and the roof terrace with sun beds is so relaxing after a hot day sight seing. I as well had breakfast on the roof and that was fabulous too. Fresh orange juice, good coffee, croisants, bread... wonderful. Cant use more superlatives to describe the Lunetoile! Just go there and enjoy! Thanks again to Sue, i definetly come back!!!

'Can't use more superlatives to describe the Lunetoile'!!! I can't think of a better way of thanking you, other than THANK YOU very very much - what good praise indeed, and coming from someone in the industry. We look forward to a return trip, by you, one day soon, perhaps? Many thanks, Sue and Kabira and Latifa
