“Nice place”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

This was a nice place to stay, we had a large room with our own couch etc which was cute. A very pretty, traditional room. Nibbles on arrival were a nice touch. We were there in Feb and whilst the roof is cute, it definately did not look as pretty as the pictures. Perhaps more of an effort is made in summer. The owner was not there when we were but the lady that was there was very helpful. The one thing I will say is that it would have been good to have someone that we could have gone to if trouble in the evening. Riads in general are very noisy but this was sadly worse for us. On our last night we had to get up crazy early to catch a bus. There were men in the flat above us shouting, singing, moving furniture and falling over right up to an hour or so before we left. Out of their minds drunk etc! We argued with the guys ourselves, twice, and it would have been nice if a member of staff cold have assisted. For us, breakfast was definately disappointing in comparison to other places that we stayed at a similar price range. In saying that, it was very kind that they left us some basic breakfast out the night before leaving very early. All in all, a nice place but could perhaps do with a few tweaks. Would stay again.

Room Tip: Take the one in the picture with the yellow couch and not the noisy room beside the kitchen!

Hi, thank you so much for taking the time to write, and so glad that you loved your room etc...we certainly do make an effort ALL YEAR round, and the top terrace, of course, being so open to the elements, cannot always have the carpets and the umbrellas out! Sad though this may be, it is a reality, and so when there are strong winds...the first thing we have to do is to bring in the carpet and to take down the umbrellas...and even more sadly, when these winds continue for a long period of time, certainly, you never do get to see the terrace in all its glory, nor indeed use the terrace as liberally as you can do when the winds drop! Such is life in front of the Atlantic Ocean!
As for the noisy clients above you....this is the first I have heard about this, and I will certainly investigate! We do not have staff on the premises at night, as the house is not big enough, BUT, EVERYONE has my number, and that of Kabira, to call, should that ever become necessary, and certainly neither of us knew anything about this! So very, very sorry..no client of ours, should ever be disturbed by others, and I would have been extremely firm with them, had I known....but thank you so much for letting me know... I am so surprised that you found our normally delicious breakfasts, to be disappointing!! Again, thanks sooo much for this comment, and rest assured that I will ensure that our breakfasts, once again, become the highlight of the holiday! Many thanks for your comments, Sue

very nice and friendly Riad in the heart of Essaoouira. Clean rooms, rooftop terrace and good breakfast. Hammam on demand- a real experience and a must if you havent done it. Friendly people who speak English or french. Helpful information about sightseeing, cafes and restaurants. Highly recommended!

We stayed 5 nights. Very good starting point for extensive exploration of the old town of Essaouira and the beach. Very friendly support in all matters. Nice breakfast on the roof garden. Gladly stay again.

We were greeted at the bus station in Essaouira & guided to the Riad. Nothing special to look at from the outside, but once inside it was an oasis of calm and tranquility. Sue, the owner, served us tea & some delicious nibbles as she gave us the low down on the local area. Her info was invaluable as we did waste our 5 days wondering where would be good to eat & have a drink, we had all the info already. Due to the wind, we spent most of our sun bathing days on the sun terrace, it was lovely. The room we stayed in was lovely & very comfy, very clean too. To have made the stay even better, a fridge in the room would have been great, but certainly not a deal breaker. We had access to a communal kitchenette to make drinks during the day and night, which as we had brought tea bags with us was very useful. All in all we had a very pleasant stay & would certainly go back.

Room Tip: Room 5 was awesome, but you may also want to consider the apartment, which was smaller but you had y...

We were warmly greeted by Kabira when we arrived in our taxi from Agadir (arranged with the help of Sue) and guided through the town to the Riad. It is a fascinating old building with comfortable rooms and a great roof terrace where one can breakfast while enjoying the sun and looking at the ocean. Sue wasn't there, but all the other women were very helpful with tips for places to eat, hammam, and whatever we needed. It was a great place to land in Morocco. And I would love to go back again some time.

It might have been that the owner was on vacation and that my experience is different from those staying here while management was around, but my stay here was not as good as what I expected it to be like based on the online reviews. It was basically a deserted place with nobody around. Maybe I was spoiled by the delicious breakfasts I enjoyed in other riads, but here in the morning I got dry stale bread and cold coffee, all prepared the night before by one of the maids. I just expected better I think. The room was beautiful and comfortable, the food just didn't meet the basic standards of what you'd expect. I like my coffee hot and fresh, not made the night before.

Thank you for this puzzling and rather hurtful, comment. I was indeed away, but, I am happy to say, Riad Lunetoile goes on as normal, as though I was there. We have staff on the premises 12 hours per day, from 8am til 8pm, plus, you were never, ever, the only guest as we had 2 other rooms booked at the same time. Very odd, that you found it deserted? As for the dry stale bead and coffee made the day before? What can I say? Simply not possible! Piping hot fresh coffee/tea/hot Chocolate prepared every morning at 8am, and served together with freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly made yoghurt (made the day before, as it takes a couple of hours to prepare and then set!), croissants and baguettes served with butter and a choice of jams.

Sad to read such comments, and one wonders why? But thank you, nevertheless...
