We had a fantastic view of the sea from our room which was a good size, comfortable and clean. We did have a couple of issues with the room, and the staff were very helpful and without hesitation upgraded us to an even bigger room with a balcony and better views. There was a really relaxed atmosphere with plenty of room to chill out inside and out by the pool, which was a great temperature and very inviting. The staff were helpful, attentive and very friendly, nothing was too much for them, they even packed us off with a breakfast as we departed at 5:30am, we didn't have to ask for this. We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and they presented us with the most delicious gateaux and flowers. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here, it was a great distance to the medina, and very close to the beach, we didn't eat in the restaurant but breakfast was very nice, particularly the yoghurt with honey.

Room Tip: Definitely go for a room with a sea view.

Excellent position, next to the Medina and 100 meters from the beach.

Rooms are large, clean and very nice.

Breakfast is good but absolutely not served on time… 30 minutes late is nothing.

We had an issue with the door of our room because it did not close from inside. This did not improve the quality of our sleep. During our 2 night say we have asked 5 times to get it fixed. Each time they replied that they would have sent somebody immediately, but nobody ever came!

There was a big plastic cover on top of the stairs/roof with banged all day and night due to the heavy wind, it made a lot of noise. We asked twice (as other guests did too) to get it fixed but it never has been done.

Safety deposit box not fixed in the wardrobe, could just take the entire box out.

The hammam for the guests is only available 30 minutes per day and needs to be reserved in advance.

Nice garden but swimming pool does not look very nice… needs to be painted… never saw anyone in the pool!

Room Tip: View on the Medina is not nice, try ocean view

The hotel is very clean and decorated to a high standard it has a very nice ambiance. It is in a nice location being just 5minutes from the beach and medina.Staff were very friendly, attentive and spoke reasonable English. Room had good facilities with mini-bar, safe, etc.. Breakfast consisted of breads, cheese, ham, yoghurt, fruit, eggs, pastries etc and was available from 7.30 to 11am (very handy if your a late starter). Snacks were available all day and meals were served in the evening ( didnt eat in evenings as quite expensive and many good restaurants in medina). There are nice chill out areas both inside and outside and a small pool, where towels are supplied ( nice touch). There are only 14 rooms here and although fairly small it it seams to have lots of space somehow. I highly recommend this hotel, having stayed in many hotels around the world I believe this is one of my favourites.

We really enjoyed this hotel. The staff is very nice, and you can nicely hangout in the garden or walk around town or the beach. Very relaxing atmosphere. The hotel could use a lift up. It is a bit worn out, as if it has been a fancy hotel but there is no money left to keep up the standard. One sink was not working, one window would not open, the other would not close properly. This did not really put us down. The price however we consider as far too high. There are cheaper hotels un essouira that offer similar amount of comfort or similar peiced hotel that are much more luxurious.

We had our final destination stay at this hotel. Would rather call it an up market hostel. A little tired and in need of an injection of character. There is a small pool area and minimal sun loungers but we found that there was enough to go round. Situated adjacent to a busy roads but hey you are it a town after all!
Good location to the port and old town.
Rooms were ok but lacked air con. Since it is very windy this was not a problem as the temperature dropped at night. The food was excellent and one of the nicest tagines we had on our trip. Breakfast was excellent with a nice spread of cakes and eggs however you wanted them cooked.
My only real grip was that the spiral staircase leading to the rooms had a plastic roof which was very much in disrepair and had been like this for some time. This meant that the plastic covering thrashed around in the wind and you could hear it at night. (See photo). Other than that the usual noisy door slamming and hard floors meant that you could hear others coming and going.
I think fair to say a couple of nights would be long enough.

My boyfriend and I spent the most amazing week in this lovely place. The staff are very friendly and helpful (especially the waiter at the restaurant and the girls and the reception). I would not take on board the reviews criticizing the fact that the hotel is placed next to the road, frankly you would have to be really picky to have a problem with a few scooters and cars passing by from time to time. I hardly noticed the noise and enjoyed watching the town life from the balcony. Also the hotel is located just opposite the beach and few minutes walk from the Medina which is a huge advantage . They serve a nice breakfast with lovely freshly squeezed orange juice and nice Moroccan yoghurt. They also offer nice choice of food for lunch (chicken skewers with fresh olives are delicious). I went to the hammam every night since hotel guests can use it for free, it's a real treat and makes you feel refreshed and relaxed. There is also a choice of massages, (highly recommended) body treatments and comparing it to UK prizes it's definitely worth it. They have a beautiful garden with a swimming pool, and although it's not the biggest you can still swim in it and cool down. The hotel itself has an amazing atmosphere and you can definitely relax and enjoy yourself there. Essaouira is a perfect place for a relaxing holiday, where one can explore the town at its own pace and you don't have to rush and be hassled all the time (like in Marrakech). We will definitely be back and if so we will be back to Ocean Vagabond!

Room Tip: Go for the room with the view, as watching the sea at sunset is quite beautiful!

We spent four wonderful nights here. The hotel is in an ideal location next to the beach but just outside the medina walls. we were in Inca room which had two single beds but was big enough, clean and quiet with sea views. no air con but the evenings were cool so we wouldn't have used it anyway.
The breakfast was good with a selection of pastries, fresh bread and fruit and an egg done to your preference.
we spent some time in the peaceful garden which was shielded from the winds with a small but cool pool. We used the hammam which was on a booking system. When the sign says it is closed just ask at reception who will open it for you.
All the staff were really helpful and friendly and spoke great English.
I would certainly recommend this hotel.

Tucked away at the back of the garden, is the hotel's intimate Oriental Spa, offering guests a good choice of beauty treatments, massage and hammam. In addition, guests can participate in the many activities available on the beach, just across the road from the hotel, such as swimming, water sports or even camel riding...... Our charming "L'O' Restaurant, looks out over the gardens and offers an enticing selection of Moroccan and Mediterranean cuisine. Unik palais offers plenty of communal spaces and quiet corners for both adults and children to chill out in: a cosy lounge overlooks the gardens and has comfy sofas, floor cushions and an open-fire. Our library and reading room on the mezzanine floor, with its comfortable leather chairs, good selection of books, 42" satellite TV and DVD player, is a great favorite with our guests, as is our cozy African Colonial-style bar. ... more   less
