Booked this small hotel for our stay in Essaouira. Booked 6 nights, but left after 1 hour. The room wasn’t ready when we arrived 2 hours after check in, and was not clean for us. There was no hot water, only slightly warm. Even worse was the toxic smell of raw sewage in the ensuite bathroom. There was no other room available for us, so we offered to pay for 1 night and go elsewhere. The extremely rude manager threatened to have us arrested if we didn’t pay for 2 nights of the 6 nights booked! We felt we had to pay and left immediately. Besides the toxic smell (methane gas is deadly), the hotel is quite rundown and far from town. My wife and I are experienced travellers, and have never had anything like this happen in 45 years of travel. Do not stay here!

Room tip: Choose another hotel.

This is such a fantastic hotel that I am almost reluctant to write a review so as to keep it a secret. The staff are spectacular, especially Saïd and Ishmael, and the owner Younes. Nothing was too much, and everything was perfect. I stayed for a week with a group of friends and can't wait to get back. Last time I visited Essaouira I stayed in the Medina, which was great, but better to be a short (10 min) cab ride away at Tangaro and enjoy the open space and fresh breezes!

We stayed for a wonderful week in October. The hotel is so beautiful each room has real character and there is a lovely atmosphere to the place. All the staff are delightful one of the waiters Siad was always very attentive and very helpful. Kawtar the manager was also quick to sort anything that was needed. The food is delicious. We used the pool every day and felt so far away from the hustle and bustle of Essaouira medina, which is just a short taxi drive away. Several of our group had a massage and used the hammam and said both were really good. I would be very happy to recommend this wonderful place and I hope to return.

Room tip: The best rooms are around the main courtyard but I guess the two not on the main courtyard might be quieter...

Such an amazing place. You have to be there to really
understand. Breathtaking tranquil and perfect getaway. Loved the pool, the yoga studio, and the food. Staff so helpful. Rooms very comfortable and clean. 2nd year being there and next year booked already.

The sunset at night is a thing of beauty.

Very disappointing as this was recommended by a friend who stayed here many years ago and said it was fantastic. Well - it might have been fantastic years ago but the place has not been maintained. Everything is tired and needs to be refreshed. No hot water in the room, shower fixture broken, no fan ( no A/C of course), no one to clean the pool, no bottled water in the room, no shampoo nor shower gel. Everything is super basic, no attention from the staff.
Didn’t feel welcome at all. Sad because the property could be beautiful.
