A cracking place!! We were here for 6 nights in between Marrakech and then on to the Atlas Mountains. We got a transfer from Marrakech which Leah had arranged which worked very well. We then had a hire car while we were here which was delivered to the riad - taking out any of the usual hassle. The location is a bit out of the way but we really enjoyed that and used the little track for our early morning jogs. From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed and calm - the accommodation Is boho chic and we stayed in the blue room which was large, light and airy with a sense of privacy. We ate at the riad 3 of our nights and the food was always good - especially the Royal cous cous. Staff were great - from Dominique the owner, Leah the manager, and Rasheed who was always on hand and helpful. Pool and gardens great - couldn't have asked for more - we will be back .....

Great little place - 6 rooms only. This makes for a certain intimacy and getting to know fellow travellers is easy. Really best for adults in our view - children running free can disturb the nirvana. Food, welcome, location (get precise directions if you're driving), all good. Would be fun as a group of friends taking over for 3/4 nights.

We stayed at Baoussala in early April, with a toddler and a baby. We were made very welcome despite the demands of our little people, and the staff couldn't do enough to help us. In fact the staff were brilliant all round. Baoussala has a lovely, relaxed feel, as if you have just stepped into a family home. It has been beautifully decorated (Dominique has a great eye for design) although some areas are starting to look a bit tired (a few chips in the crockey for example). The pool area is lovely and a highlight was definitely the spa! Although the room is quite small and simple, the massages were excellent and extremely relaxing. The room we had was spacious and well appointed, though a bit dark. The thick walls mean that, whilst cool in the heat of the day, the rooms can feel a little chilled and damp in the evenings. If you are travelling with very small children or babies, the cots in the rooms are perfect, you can get monitors to work, and the cook was very willing to prepare simple meals to order when we wanted them. The resident dogs, cats and tortoises all provided hours of entertainment, although there are quite a few concrete steps to watch out for. All in all we had a great stay and would certainly recommend it.

Room Tip: The rooms all have different colour schemes and designs. In hindsight we would have preferred a room with a lighter colour scheme.

Baoussala is a charming place to stay, made so special by Dominique and her team which is led by Leah. The accommodation, food and surroundings are excellent and nothing is too much trouble. I arrived with a damaged walker - essential for my mobility - and this was fixed on site with miminum fuss. Thank you Dominique, Leah and staff for a magical few days. Remembering my stay always makes me smile!

This Riad is about 12km from Essaouira in a walled compound of several small buildings. The accommodation is in traditional style, no TVs, no phones, and only a limited number of rooms. The main building is around a courtyard where breakfast is served, or you can have it on the extensive roof. Lunch can be ordered there too, and dinner on warm evenings. Otherwise there is ample space inside. The pool area is beautiful and calm, and the gardens a delight. The hosts, Dominique and Leah, are very attentive and know the area well for those who want to explore. We didn't because my travel partner is disabled, so days relaxing and the occasional trip to a beachside restaurant was the order of the day. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, a sign of a well-managed establishment. Both Dominique and Leah speak excellent English.
