The location of Villa Maroc is excellent - close to everything & while I liked the hotel there were a few issues that spoiled it for us.We were given rooms 27 & 28. We were 3 friends travelling & the 2 rooms were joined by a little private lounge which was lovely. However, the one room although spacious & very comfortable was dark with no window & the lights had to be on all the time. The decor of the hotel is light & lovely so this was a disappointment. The lounge had no ceiling, almost like a Moroccan inner courtyard with 2 floors above it. On our first evening when we got back from dinner & we sat in the lounge & chatted, not making a noise & we were rudely told by a man above us to be quiet as they were trying to sleep. This was at 21h30 at night! After that we were nervous to sit in the lounge in case we disturbed the people above us. However, on our last night we were woken at 02h00 in the morning by rowdy people coming back from a night on the town & in the morning we were woken up by staff chatting in a laundry/kitchen opposite our lounge window! We had dinner in the hotel on our first evening & they gave us a beautiful private little dining room. The dinner was superb & beautifully served. Breakfasts in the mornings were served on the rooftop terrace with beautiful view overlooking the harbour. The day we checked out we had to leave by 06h00 to get to the airport in Casablanca. We had paid for breakfast but asked just to have coffee before we left. This we "organised" twice the day before. We also asked if there would be someone to help with the luggage as Villa Maroc has a lot of stairs. We never got the coffee & I had to go & look for the night staff to again ask for assistance with the luggage. What a lovely establishment. Such a pity they cannot fine tune the finer details!

We are glad to hear that you loved dinner and breakfast at Villa Maroc.
Villa Maroc is a Riad, converted moroccan family houses, with a very special and intimate atmosphere. But not a hotel with perfect sound isolated rooms. You had two rooms next to each other with a commun space between. As Villa Maroc has a plentitude of small sitting areas it is easy to find a corner to chat until late without disturbing other guests. Just ask our staff.
I am sorry that you where disturbed early in the morning by your room neighbours. And even more sorry for the mistake of our night waiter for not having prepared your breakfast. We will be happy to serve you a complet Villa Maroc breakfast on the roof terrace during your next visit in Essaouira.

I’m perhaps a bit biased because we were walk-in guests after not loving our air-bnb and Leila at the desk gave us 3 outstanding rooms along with a warm welcome and help getting our baggage over to the hotel. Or maybe it was waking, in room 5, to the call to prayer and the ocean view (I am coming back just to stay in room 5 again), or the amazing breakfasts, the ‘we can help with anything’ service which included arranging a doctor to come help our friend who got sick or helping us re-arrange all of our travel plans to allow our friend another day to get well - I’m well travelled and have never experienced a kinder staff. And I haven’t even really mentioned how stunning the property is. Dining in or having a glass of wine in their lounge area- it’s wonderfully relaxing, peaceful and delicious!
A sincere thank you to all who make our stay so amazing and shared such warmth and kindness. I cannot wait to come back again!

My 3 days stay at the Riad Villa Maroc was a wonderful experience. My suite on the 2nd floor was very comfortable and spacious. The taste levels inside the room are very high. I was also fascinated with the hotel's unique Moroccan Art deco interior design which made me feel like I was in a very special place.

The staff too was excellent, highly professional, friendly and always ready to assist.

Not to forget this amazing breakfast served every morning at the hotel's rooftop with a breathtaking panoramic view on Essaouira's mesmerising seaside.

Highly recommended!! And I will come back again same time next year in june.. 🥳🥳

Villa Maroc is in a great location -- it's easy to walk all around Essaouira from there. The staff are lovely, the spa wonderful, and the breakfast on the terrace was delicious. This was our first stop in Morocco and a wonderful first impression. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful riad (well, actually 4 joined together), in the Médina but a complete haven of tranquility. Breakfast great, and the lovely owner wanders around and
checks in with guests.
We didn’t have supper here but love how the little ante rooms off the courtyards are set up as private dining rooms.
One of my pet hates staying in hotels is big hotel dining rooms and this was the perfect antidote.
We stayed in room 14 which has 2 bedrooms. We were amazed when we arrived to realise how huge and beautiful the room is. Duplex, big sitting room downstairs and bedrooms upstairs, beautifully decorated like the rest of the hotel.
One word of warning- the room with the 2 single beds - it’s very easy to smack your head on the low door frame when leaving, be careful!
Highly recommend this hotel and hope to return
