Essaouira itself is rich with history, and its historic port is a must-see. The port still has many features of its Portuguese past, notably the fortress walls and the small citadel complete with cannons. The view from the top of the citadel allows you to take in the colors of the city--white walls against a blue sky. It feels like a trip back in time.

The port is hugely atmospheric and a beautiful place to take a stroll in and take pictures! Beautiful rows and rows of blue boats and ships. Along with the flurry of boats arriving and departing, nets being repaired and fishes being caught, you can see traditional wooden boats being made here. Cats and gulls surrounding the old walls make it an unforgettable experience. We definitely recommend.

The rows and rows of blue boats were amazing and there are photo opportunities everywhere you look. The kids fishing and swimming and the fishing boats coming and going all add up to a great experience.

Berber massage a few doors down from Palais Heure Bleue. 60 minutes for under $30 each. My husband & I are veteran massage goers from NYC to Thailand. This beats them all, not to mention the awesome Berber made Argan oil products!!
