“Not the best”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

The medina in Fes was far more interresting. The medina is well laid out and easy to walk and the harbour next door adds a nice addition to explore.

“Medina must see”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

Good trip, one day escursion from Marrakech, like going back in time, nice village with a lot of charme. Cultural, painting, music, place. Lot of little shops, colors, food with fish restaurants, and suks. You dont need a guide,

“One of the best in Morocco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

The atmosphere in the Medina is like the rest of Essaouira - laid-back, full of interest and a great range of stuff to look at and buy. The tourist shops just off the square are fine if you want some souvenirs but don't miss also going further down to the Fish Souk - where you can buy your fish and then have it cooked freshly at the cafe in the corner of the souk. There are also spice souks, jewellers quarter, the Mellah, etc
Just wandering around the great variety of little shops where the locals buy all their goods, seeing the tailors, leatherworkers, marquetry workshops, etc gives you a great insight into the normal working day of the Essaouirians. They are lovely, welcoming and helpful people.

“Nothing compared to Marrakech”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

Worth taking a day trip to shop in Marrakech, Essaouira is nothing in comparison. Prices seemed a little higher and nothing like the range and quality of goods.
