A riad is simply a building, a boutique hotel and, although they vary in style and appearance, their success (or otherwise) lies with the staff and the management. Hassan and Hafida manage to turn the Bab Essaouira experience into something truly unique and special. From the delicious, leisurely breakfasts served in the communal kitchen/dining area to the unscheduled tea served on the roof terrace by Hafida and the relaxed and informative conversations shared with Hassan, this riad is something different from the norm. Spotlessly clean and efficiently managed, you tend to feel part of a family more than just a hotel guest and Hassan and Hafida are the heart and soul of the establishment. We spent nine, very happy, nights here. Excellent! Thank you Hassan. Thank you Hafida. P.S. The sandwiches were delicious!

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely. However, if you want total privacy, go for the roof terrace room.

We found this riad using trip advisor so I am sure that most of what I say is just backing up the already stellar reviews!

We stayed here for 3 nights in June which happened to coincide with the Gnouwa (spelling?!) festival. We travelled from Marrakech to Essaouira using the Super@Tours buses - at 140 DH for two for one way (just over £10) I can thoroughly recommend this. The coaches were clean and air conditioned and the journey was only 2hr45.

We rang the riad owner (who is called Hassan) about 2 hours before we arrived and he agreed to meet us at the super@tours station to walk us to the riad. He was there bang on time and walked us through the small medina of essaouira, pointing out places to eat and things to see on the way.

The riad is down a couple of back streets which twist and turn a bit but they are perfectly safe at night so do not be alarmed! We counted at least 4 different riads down our street so you are never alone!

The riad was beautifully decorated and you have a floor to yourself for each room with a living area and a private bathroom and your bedroom. There is a small kitchen on the roof terrace where a delicious breakfast is served fresh every morning when you are ready.

Hassan was extremely friendly and very helpful! A real pleasure to talk to and his staff (one lady who cooks and clean) was absolutely lovely and despite not speaking much English always made an effort to talk to us as best she could.

All in all a wonderful stay in this lovely little fishing town (though its population had grown rather large during the festival!). We would definitely return and would recommend to our friends!

We stayed at this riad for an overnight stay in Essaouria. We were met from the bus station by riad staff & escorted through the medina. Amine was clear to point out many reference points on the way there & during our first walk back to the medina to ensure we could find our own way! We did not get lost once! We were given numbers for our phones & advised to call if we needed anything. The staff were always on hand for anything we needed and were courteous & helpful throughout our short stay. The location of the riad is great for the town - a couple of minutes walk to the heart of the town. Our 'room' was arranged suite style so a bedroom, separate large comfy seating area, toilet, shower. There was a large flat screen TV in our bedroom which we did not watch! The terrace areas were wonderful to enjoy the seaside cool air. Breakfast was fresh & plentiful. The wi-fi reception in the riad was very strong! All in all, a great place to kick back & enjoy the relaxed pace of Essaouria.

My husband and I spent one night here after a couple of days in Marrakech and what a lovely place to stay. The owner was really quick responding to emails and arranged for the manager to meet us at the port. He walked us to the riad which was in an ideal location for both the port and the souks. It is a great little riad and was spotless. We were made to feel at home and had the area explained to us before we ventured out. The honeymooner room at the top of the riad is nice and private with a small terrace of its own. Breakfast the following morning was huge and delicious.
Thank you Oliver, I only wished we had stayed for a bit longer.

After a cultural trip trough marrakech, the owner of the riad dar najat send me fortunately to the stylish, small riad bab essaouira. Reading some books, walking in the evening at the beach, eating fresh fish ... and bevor you go to bed, take a look at the stars on the rooftop with a fresh mint tea.

Only 4 rooms, with private bath. Excellent kitchen-team. Perfect stay!

This was my second stay at Riad Bab Essaouira, I stayed for 3 nights at Riad Dar Najat (in Marrakech) and 2 nights in Essaouira. Both riads are owned by the same person and you can split your trip to Morocco over the two places (Marrakech and Essaouira), Olivier (the owner) arranged all of the transport for me, so I didn't have to worry about a thing. Essaouira is a great contrast to Marrakech and it is definetely worth staying there for a couple of nights.

The location of the riad is perfect, it is in the middle of the medina of Essaouira but it is in a quite street away from any noise, just perfect for a great nights sleep. The beach is only a 5 minutes stroll away and the souks are a minute away from your doorstep.

The riad itself it beautiful, the decorations and furniture is unique and well thought out. My room had everything that I needed in there, it was en-suite and had its own lounge area. The double bed was very comfortable and just what you need for a great nights sleep. There was a nice "chillout" area at the top of the riad, you can have drinks up there and just relax to the music. The roof terrace is also very nice, you can sit up there on the large sofas and take in the sun.

The staff were all very friendly, they spoke English and were very helpful and polite.

I had 2 evening meals at the riad, one was the kefta tagine, it was cooked to perfection. The other was a lamb tagine, this was out of this world, the chef had cooked it to perfection and was one of the nicest tagines I have ever tasted. If you are staying at the riad, then make sure you have at least one evening meal there, you will find the quality of the tagines are unbeatable for the taste and experience you will have.

I have recommended this riad to famliy and friends, they have stayed there and agreed with me that this is the most relaxing riad in the whole of Essaouira, highly recommended, good value for money, stop thinking about it and just book it................
