Chalet de la plage is right on the beach and a great place to go for sit-down seafood, particularly at lunch when you can look out the big windows at the beach. Seafood is very fresh and expertly prepared. It's mostly simple items (grilled fish, pasta with seafood, oysters, etc.), but they do everything very well. Service is attentive, which is not always the case in Morocco, and the prices are quite reasonable all things considered.

It's busier (and probably better) during lunch when you have a view of the ocean - at night there's not much to see.

we only went here once but really enhoyed it we hadnt booked but got there early for lunch as and it was full when we left so would reserve next time. We ordered sardines for 2 and got 8 large ones each so should have shared, the calamari and fish were delicious and the rose they recommended was lovely in an ice bucket. Nice to sit and look out over the sea. Service was professional and formal and we really enjoyed our lunch here. Chez Sam cheaper and a bit less formal but liked it here too.

*Tremendous* fish. Pretty much all caught that am. I had the mixed fish, i.e. the best of that day's catch, and apart from being tremendous it was an insanely huge portion of seven types of fish. I finished it, but an ordinary man would struggle.

Silly to go to Essaouira and not go here...

Led by the number 2 rating in the Top 10 guide, we had dinner here tonight. I ordered the fixed menu (250 Dh ~ £20) and had grilled sardines (x10), a good size grilled lobster and a fruit salad. My friend ordered a fish soup and a grilled sole...the fish was massive. Everything tasted very fresh and yummy. As my friend could only finish half of the sole, we requested to take away...when we opened the pack in the hotel, we discovered the waiter had given us extra bread, potato and sauce for our doggy bag!!

The waiter also gave me a free sea urchin :) and let us try the argan oil. We had a wonderful time...highly recommended and definitely will go back.

PS. This restaurant offered much better value than the harbour fish stall...so, don't know why the Top 10 guide rates that as number 1.

must have LUNCH at this restaurant, excellent oysters fresh out of water! checked out another place closer to the fishmarket but empty there. glad we chose this one instead. almost full with lots of french, italian and spanish people. really enjoyed the food and wine watching the beautiful beach and horizon from the terrace. we spent 3 hrs on lunch there. it was too nice to leave!
