“Beautiful, relaxing and the perfect place to stay in Morocco”
Reviewed March 28, 2011

My boyfriend and I have both been to Morocco before. I have travelled to Essaouria but was looking for somewhere a bit more relaxing for a 5 day break. Rebali Riads was perfect - the rooms were beautiful, clean and quiet, the pools were wonderful, and the gardens were immaculate. The staff were always on hand if you needed anything but never intrusive and the food was delicious - we had dinner there 2 out of our 3 nights! The location is around 20 mins from Essaouria - so we hired a car, however there are a couple of places to eat in the local area of Sidi Kaoki - which has a vast beach
We really enjoyed our stay there and would recommend this to anyone who is wanting a relaxing and special time in Morocco

An lovely retreat away from other parts of Morocco that are now becoming rather europeanised and loosing some of their soul. The staff are excellent being attentive but never intrusive.
The surrounding countryside was green by Moroccan standards which was helped a little by the occasional rain shower - which are much appreciated by the local community. The wind is fairly constant but not annoying and no doubt welcome during the heat of summer.
The chef is a real asset to the riad's - he is a superb cook and guide to the markets in the nearby town Essaouira. We can highly recommend his cooking lessons.
Well worth a visit - we hope t return soon.

After spending a week in Esaouira and in the hustle and bustle of the medina we were looking for a few nights somewhere peaceful and a little indulgent. Rebali Riads hit the spot on every account. The location was perfect; just set back a little from the sea and was in easy walking distance of a handful of restaurants. One night we ate out, the other we had a dinner cooked for us in the villa by the Rebali Riad chef. I couldn't recommend this experience higher. The food was the best we had had during the 12 days we had been in Morocco. Utterly delicious. Breakfast was wonderful too, as were all the staff. Beds were very comfortable, the linen felt very luxurious and it was all like a little slice of heaven at every stage. Neither me or my boyfriend were kite surfers and that really didn't matter. Morocco can sometimes be quite noisey and hectic so this is just a brilliant base to relax, unwind and feel a little looked after!

I'm going to keep this short, and just confirm all the other great things said about Rebali Riads. Nothing is to much trouble for the fantastic staff led by Mohammed (from arranging taxis to meals to horse riding) and the location is amazing. The only thing you may miss is a hectic night life but having wonderfully prepared food served in your own riad soon makes up for that, and at £12 a head for 3 courses its good value.
The small village of Sidi Kaoki has places to eat for the same sort of price if you want a change, and the small number of shops should have re-opened now.
The riads themselves are first class.

After a 3.5 hour journey to Sidi Kaouki from Marrakech, my girlfriend (now fiancée) and I were feeling very tired and a little unsure as to what to expect from Rebali Riads. Being such a long journey (and a sizable chunk of our holiday) we were hoping it would all be worthwhile. And boy-oh-boy was it!!!!!

We were personally greeted by the Manager, Mohamed, who was exceptionally friendly and very knowledgeable. He had arranged for the customary tea and biscuits (delicious!!!) to be waiting for us when we arrived. But we could hardly focus on enjoy this when presented with the truly spectacular riad we were to be staying in over the next 4 days. It is difficult to put into words just how amazing the place was. But in summary, we had a fully equipped kitchen, grand double height dining room, 2 lounges (one with huge flat screen tv), master bedroom with en-suite double shower and bath, swimming pool, numerous outdoor eating spots, gorgeous roof terrace, balconies (inside and out), and an awesome glass sliding roof over the kitchen / diner, to bring the outside in. Our particular riad, in fact, had 4 bedrooms. Although we were the only ones staying there for the duration of our stay. Oh, and did I mention that there was a tennis court?

The staff at Rebali Riads were just brilliant! Monika and Rafal made sure we always had everything we needed (including a well stocked drinks fridge). And the chef, Kandouzi, cook us the most fantastic meals you could imagine. In fact, on our penultimate day, he travelled with us to the Souks of Essaouira and showed us around his favorite shopping hot spots. He then asked us what we would like for our dinner that evening (aubergine and mozzarella stacks followed by lamb tagine). He bought the ingredients, then came round to our raid later that evening and provide a master class in moroccan cooking. Helen absolutely loved getting involved. And I quite enjoyed sitting back with a nice glass of wine watching the fun unfold! At this point, I have to mention that Kandouzi's assistant (or sous chef as we called him) was just awesome. He didn't speak much English but he joined in the fun and made the evening that much more enjoyable. We regret not learning his name. But you can't miss him. He's a lovely chap and deserves credit for the fab job he does.

Helen and I were gutted to leave Rebali Riads. Whilst traveling around and exploring the different parts of Morocco was nice, this place was by far our favorite. We kind of wish we had spent the entire duration of our holiday there. But hey ho - there's always the next time. And there will be a next time!!!

Thanks again to everyone at Rebali Riads for making our stay so fantastic. And Rebecca and Alistair (Reb Ali - very clever) deserve huge credit for building such an awesome place. Can we come back next year?

Peter

We stayed just one night but Rebali left a lasting impression of just what is possible when somebody else has thought of everything you may need to have a thoroughly relaxing holiday. Attention to detail is Rebali's strong point with sumptuous bathrooms complete with local products and fluffy robes; the fully stocked kitchen including chilling white wine (in a largely dry country this was a treat!) our bedroom balconies overlooked a lovely pool and the gardens are bursting with blooming flora and fauna. The service was great and we enjoyed meeting the onsite managers who explained the workings of the property very clearly and offered to help us organise any trips or bookings. The real advantage of this Riad is never having to leave it if you dont want to as the on site kitchen and chef can whip up anything you like anytime you want. Our highlight was taking an early morning dip in the sea and returning to have a delicious breakfast served in our outdoor dining area. The best way to start the day.

We stayed in Rebali for 5 nights in early October., It a really wonderful place to stay - we stayed in Dar jeseli. its comfortable, huge and very tastefully decorated. The staff are very friendly and accomodating. We ate in the Riad most night - the food was excellent and very well presented - and lots of it - great chef!!

Monika and the rest of the staff were so nice and accomodating. They can help you sort out whatever you want to do.
Would reccomend for families - brilliant place - we are a group of 4 30+ thought the place was fabulous, our only problem was with the location - as great as it is its a bit barren..the main square buirnt down a few years ago and is still being rebuilt - once this is rebuilt i think the atmostphere might be a bit more vibrant. There are a few places to go in Sidi but they are not excellent - the suirf sjack is very welcoming but not excellent. I strongly advise you go along to the seafood shack a short walk away. Incredibly good food - very welcoming and a wonderfuly unique wee spot for lunch or dinner...and they serve wine!!
