“Second visit, food still amazing, better service”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

My husband and I went to Silvestro last year and enjoyed the food but were not happy with the service. We returned to Silvestro this year and had a wonderful experience. The food was phenomenal – I had some of the best gnocchi I have ever eaten, and my husband’s lasagna was delicious. The service was attentive and good, with no complaints. I would definitely recommend this restaurant but go early in the evening.

“Excellent Real Italian Pizzas in Morocco”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

We have been to this Italian pizzeria last year and returned again this year when we needed a break from tagines and couscous and were again satisfied with the excellent real Italian pizzas. The owner and pizza maker is Italian and had just returned from his 3-week holiday at home. There are two rooms that were filled with westerners as the famous Gnaoua World Music Festival was due to commence the following day. The decor is a bit strange - dark and rose-motif wallpaper. And the staff could be a bit more attentive. But the pizzas are wonderful and we will probably go back again before we leave Essaouira at the end of the month.

“Hit & Miss . . .”
Reviewed May 25, 2013

The food is great in this funky restaurant. The owner, Sylvestro is from Milan & he makes a point to talk to every table as he assists in serving. We went twice. The 1st night was stellar. Good food, good service, good wine. The next night we went it was only 2 out of 3 as they were busy & the service collapsed. Tables were getting individual diner’s plates every 5 minutes so everybody was eating out of sync with their tablemates. The up-upstairs patio area suffered in particular.

Sylvestro: I wanted to give you 5 stars but the 2nd night killed that. Hire more wait staff or close the patio or your reputation will be as flat as your pizzas.

“Very acceptable alternative to Moroccan food”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

This is authentic Italian food - and why not, what with the fishing port right on the doorstep? Friendly folk, with a nice atmosphere. Moroccan wine complements the food - we had dinner there one night, as a change from hotel/Moroccan cuisine. Carpaccio particularly good. Shall we say 'interesting' decor, but fun nevertheless!
