We ate at Silvestro's on our final night in Morocco, after a ten day holiday. We'd had so many tajines and so much cous cous that we really wanted something different on our last night, and we couldn't have found a better place in Essaouira.
From the outside, Silvestro's looks a bit like a standard Italian, like there are quite a few in Essaouira, but the experience once you are inside is very different. The restaurant is set up inside a home, which gives it quite a nice atmosphere.
The food we had was incredibly good. Cheese and Parma ham for starters and the Gnocchi with Gorgonzola as well as the Osso Bucco for mains - all great. The desserts we had were definitely worth it too! The very friendly owner had lovely 20s jazz playing (I'm not usually a fan, but this was so great that I went and bought the CD the next day) which really added to the overall atmosphere.
We would recommend this restaurant if you want something else - be prepared to pay a bit more than the average place in Morocco (still cheaper than in the UK or the Netherlands) but it is definitely worth it!
