“Loved everything about it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013

We ate at Silvestro's on our final night in Morocco, after a ten day holiday. We'd had so many tajines and so much cous cous that we really wanted something different on our last night, and we couldn't have found a better place in Essaouira.

From the outside, Silvestro's looks a bit like a standard Italian, like there are quite a few in Essaouira, but the experience once you are inside is very different. The restaurant is set up inside a home, which gives it quite a nice atmosphere.

The food we had was incredibly good. Cheese and Parma ham for starters and the Gnocchi with Gorgonzola as well as the Osso Bucco for mains - all great. The desserts we had were definitely worth it too! The very friendly owner had lovely 20s jazz playing (I'm not usually a fan, but this was so great that I went and bought the CD the next day) which really added to the overall atmosphere.

We would recommend this restaurant if you want something else - be prepared to pay a bit more than the average place in Morocco (still cheaper than in the UK or the Netherlands) but it is definitely worth it!

“Fantastic food..wonderful service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2013 via mobile

Pino's wonderful hospitality, food and lovely staff make this a standout among the Italian competitors in Essaouira. His menu is page after page of items that can only be found in Italy, let alone Essaouira.Gnocchi gorgonzoli, ravioili, hand thrown pizzas, baked lasagna are among the long list of tagine alternatives ...which serve as real comfort especially on chilly nights.
Wine by the glass or bottle complete the always lovely experience of Silvestro, an Italian Oasis in Essaouira.

“Good food and entertaining service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

We ate here New Years Eve, probably one of their busiest nights. I made the reservation that morning for 9 pm. We knew it would be busy and were expecting slow service. It was both of those, but also incredibly entertaining to watch as the three people who work there, do everything. The Italian chef/owner is in the kitchen, then on the floor. Efficient, it is not. Delicious, it is. Having worked in the restaurant business for 20+ years, I couldn't help but want to get up and give them a hand. However, they clearly have a following (umpteen people were popping their heads into the kitchen) and they didn't seem to be stressed at all. Well worth a visit.

“Lovely pizza, service was good, proper wood fired oven”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2012

We went twice during our 3 day stay, and we found the service fine. The owner and staff were very friendly. A very eclectic music selection was played, which made a nice change from places trying to do a 'Moroccan' atmosphere! However it wasn't busy so I can't speak for what its like when it is.
There was a reasonably priced wine list, and good range of pizzas (which we found delicious) and some starters that were sort of Moroccan/Italian - the sardine balls were great. A nice place.

“Very good food and great atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2012

This is a pretty good restaurant inside the medina. We sat in the terrace and spent almost 3 hours during the lunch time. If you are after some relaxing and calm restaurant than Silvestro is just the one.Agree with many of the fellow reviewers about the waiting times to deliver the food......but if you someone like us who can go to greater lengths for good food.....this should'nt stop you from visiting Silvestro. We have booked our table for the next two days and hope our expectations will remain intact.
