We checked this place out after reading reviews on TA. We went during the day and walked around the beautiful terrace, and then made a reservation to come back. We should have sat on the main level, but went up to the highest. There was no light by us, so we really couldn't see what we were eating! (Tagine) There was a musician right near us, so it was nice to listen to the music. The nice waiter brought be a pillow for my sore back. It was a good thing I had a flashlite on me though! Great atmosphere.

My Mum and I traveled around Morocco for two weeks and we loved Taros. Essaouira was the most vacationy place we went. The sea is beautiful and makes you immediately feel like you are on vacation. Taros overlooks the square that overlooks the sea. It has magical lanterns about and they have an excellent beer and wine list which is very welcome after many restaurants that don't serve alcohol or serve terrible ones. The food was one of our favourite dinners. DELICIOUS.

On day trip to essaouira stopped here for lunch. Nice breeze on rooftop for tourists, locals seemed to prefer to sit in a sheltered spot. Extensive menu but would recommend dishes of the day. We had mussels for starter which were huge and very tasty. Large tuna steak for main with vegetable risotto from menu du jour, calamari and crab pastille from main menu. Both dishes well presented and delicious. Waiters are helpful and manager came for a chat. Can also just pop in for a drink. We had a nice bottle of Moroccan rose - getting quite a taste for the Sahari Reserve despite not being rose drinkers. Quite a few flights of stairs to get up to get to the restaurant but worth the climb for the food and the views. (obviously not wheelchair friendly).

We went to Taro's on both the two nights we stayed in Essaouira. It had some good chilled music playing and the service was very quick and the guys were attentive and good humoured. The drinks were very nice. The whole place is presented very beautifully. Would go back!

We were told about this place by a lady in our hotel- its off the main port square near the banks- we had a superb evening my husband had oysters and said they were the nicest he had eaten. The night we were there, there was a magician who was excellent, we had some super morrocan wine. A great evening and well worth a visit
