We had a great day/night here. Our room was lovely, as were the others we were offered, everything was clean and tidy, high ceilings, lots of light, well set out, etc. The hotel itself was easy to find but set a little back from the main thoroughfare of the medina, so it didn't feel overtouristed and chaotic.

All the staff we met were genuinely friendly and helpful, helping me sort out wifi, pointing out good places to visit and so on.

Breakfast was probably the best we've had in Morocco - although perhaps I just think that because they provided pomegranate - wonderful wonderful wonderful - although with all the usual staples (pastries, bread, yoghurt, spreads, tea, coffee, juice, etc).

Definitely somewhere I'd be keen to go back!

If you're a light sleeper you might want to be a little picky about your choice of rooms - we were there on a Saturday night and faced toward the street (two floors up) and it was a little noisy, fine for us but I know some people would have been bothered.

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper you might want to be a little picky about your choice of rooms - we we...

Nicely located in the medina (old town), which is the center of Essaouira. The owners are really nice and friendly and make you feel at ease!

But the best is the Hotel (Riad) itself. Nice Bedrooms with a high ceiling and beautifull decorations. On top of that, you can enjoy your breakfast on top of this old moroccan mansion and see the rooftops of the Medina, as well as the ocean...

I really enjoyed my stay, and you should try it out! :)

Room Tip: There larger and smaller rooms at slightly different prices

Although Essaouira was not in the original itinerary, an unfortunate detour led us to this lovely place! Villa Garance was recommended by the staff at our Marrakech riad and was even better than expected. Christine and her staff were incredibly welcoming and our room was cheerful, clean and beautiful. The roof terrace is perhaps the best that we experienced with stunning views over Essaouira. I cannot offer enough praise for Villa Garance.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 4. Although it faces the alley the natural sunlight through the large windows is t...

I absolutely loved this place! Upon arrival we were met by Piere - he let us take our bits up to our room (we were ungraded without even asking) and asked if we wanted some tea. This was served up on the terrace which was beautiful - again we were given time to soak in the views and have a little sit down. Piere then came up and asked if we wanted any help on discovering Essouira. He couldn't have been more helpful. This was theme throughout our stay - peaceful, given room to relax in beautiful surroundings with Christine and Piere always there to help. Even though the Riad itself is nice and quiet, the location is perfect for exploring the surrounding souks and medina. I'd thoroughly recommend Villa Garance. Perfect for couples, families etc...

My friend and I were in Essaouira for the Gnaou music festival. The Villa Garance was wonderful. Our room was beautiful, the staff very helpful and we really liked the location. We stayed in Room 10, on the terrace. It was a nice place to be quiet after the bustle of the souk.

I stayed alone for 5 nights in this wonderful Villa Garance, and I appreciated very much this quiet place in the middle of the medina : the tasteful decoration, the good breakfast on the terrace, the charming hospitality, the pleasant room, the nice atmosphere...

Room Tip: First I had room 9 on the rooftop, but the stairs are really very high and I found it tiring; and wh...

Like every good riad Villa Garance is hidden down a dusty alley off the main street behind a huge wooden door.

Once inside it's all peace and quiet from the ground floor living rooms to 3rd floor roof terrace .

You can just see the raging sea over tops of roofs and sat dishes.
The terrace is great as lower parts well sheltered from Essaouira notorious winds- which blow day n night.

Just don't expect attentive service on the terrace once breakfast is over... You need to descnend to the lobby and comfy chairs to get afternoon mint tea.

The roof terrace has two optomisticlg raised terrace areas - better views but so wind blown you watch all visitors retreat soon to the lower areas which at least hv walls around.

Bedrooms with ensuite. Each room has a glass door ( and curtain for modesty) opening onto covered central courtyard, and external windows but no view other than the street.
A great place. Relaxed Excellent location just off the main street. Quiet apart from the sound of waves being roughed up by the fierce local winds.

Helpful owners give great advice on better eateries.

Make sure you bring long trousers and a jumper as Essaouria's winds never stop!
