A colleague and I had a six night golfing break in Mazagan this October. The overall experience was excellent: the rooms (ocean view) were well appointed and comfortable, the restaurants and bars were good and the golf course spectacular! The staff in the whole resort were friendly and efficient, but the guys on the golf course were the best: one day we were caught in the rain and when it stopped they sent a member of the team out on a buggy with towels so we could dry off!
Highly recommended and, in addition, good value.

Room Tip: Go for the prime ocean view. A bit of a walk from recepton but worth it.

We have just returned from a weeks stay on half board at Mazagan Beach Resort. We went with some trepidation having read some of the recent reviews for this resort and our experience of the resort did not equal those negative reports that we read about prior to our visit.

The few very slight criticisms are:

Drinks are expensive (although not as bad as some reported) - coke approx £3 and beer £6. The cheapest wine by the bottle was £20 or thereabouts. As we are not big drinkers this did not bother us too much.

A very small number of staff could not speak any English but it was not difficult to get by with very bad french (learnt back in my school days a long time ago!)

The weekends influx of local families does produce a chaotic and noisy atmosphere (however very interesting if you enjoy people watching!!)

Smoking, although not allowed in the restaurants, is allowed in the bars, casino and other enclosed areas which if you are not a smoker does incline you to avoid these areas!

The good points were:

Our room was fresh, clean, modern with bed linen and towels changed daily, free bottles of drinking water replenished daily and ample supplies of quality toiletries. Modern flat screen TV with a few english speaking channels.

Without exception staff were pleasant, friendly and keen to help at all times.

Food (we only ate in the Buffet restaurant at night and at Olives for Breakfast) was of a very good quality, catered for all possible tastes including freshly made pizzas, tagines, fish freshly cooked while you waited and a fantastic array of deserts. We are not usually lovers of half board due to our not always having had good experiences of buffets, but we were pleasantly surprised and impressed with the spread here.

The spa was fantastic - the gym modern, well equipped and again the staff provided users with towels and water and helpful advice if required. We did not use the Hammam but those people we spoke to said it was a fantastic experience. There were also several tennis courts (good quality clay courts) and raquets and balls were provided also. I believe that the golf facilities were also of a high standard (according to 2 fellow guests who played).

The pool area was very clean with good, comfortable sunbeds with mattresses brought our daily and towels. These are amongst the best pool facilities that we have experienced and we have travelled fairly extensively to 5* resorts.

The beach was clean (any minor rubbish was collected daily). It stretched for miles giving you opportunities for a lunch time walk! Again the beach facilities were of a good standard, on a par with other 5* hotels we have stayed in. Also available - horse riding, quad biking, jetskis and surfboards (although water activities were limited during our week due to rough sea!).

Re wifi - the hotel had a computer that was free to use at any time set aside in a private room for people that cannot bear to be away from access to their emails!!

Overall, for the price paid, we felt that we had a restful and enjoyable weeks break and would consider returning in the future.

Room Tip: Higher floors in our view better.

I read the previous reviews so was dubious about what was said. However I can not fault my stay there on my trip to Morocco. We had a great deal and stayed full board, the food in the restaurants were out of this world. We were pleased with the comfort of the room and the facilities.

5 Star this is not. Looks impressive but don't look too closely. Staff have no idea what they are doing from reception to cleaners. Half an hour to register although per booked and paid for. Room dirty with no face flannels or slippers. Bathroom dirty and smelly. Wi Fi not operating for over 24 hours and when you complain they say we know. Tried to order South African wine from the wine list but told only Moroccan wines available. On investigation told that the waiters were under instructions to "push" Moroccan wines. The good news was the golf which was excellent but it is a long way to travel for good golf when there are so many good places and golf as well. I would suggest if anyone wants to play golf there they will enjoy it but forget staying as it is awful.

Went for a week end and was very disappointed.
The location is beautiful, the beach fantastic and the gardens very well maintained.
Service is the real problem, everywhere : in the restaurants waiters are not aware of what is available, how the dishes are prepared, etc...
Cleanliness in the room was not very accurate, lot of dust everywhere...
Felt a real lack of training and supervision.
In general I was expecting much more from a 5 stars hotel.

Had a fantastic stay, lovely hotel, friendly staff, would recommend the all inclusive package as the drink prices are very expensive. Approx £5 for a can of coke, £8 gin and tonic and cocktail £12. All exclusive meant we could chill and drink our way through a number of cocktails without worrying about the cost.

Hotel staff not very clued up with all inclusive so they will be added to your bill which you can view from your tv. We just went to reception before we left and had everything removed from the bill.

Not a great deal to do locally, but hotel great if you are looking for a few days chill. We went in to the town good shops that were cheaper than the airport, but shop around and be prepared to barter. We spent a couple of hours there and that was enough.

Spa great would recommend a hamman. Sat in the relaxation room afterwards watching the sun set.

Room Tip: Request a sea view, beautiful.

My wife and I tend to do more adventure and budget travelling, but Mazagan was the first stop on our honeymoon, and we wanted to get some relaxation in before heading to Marrakech. (I would highly recommend to any honeymooners to start your honeymoon at a nice resort - after all the work involved in getting married, this is the best way to go.) I have absolutely nothing but good things to say about Mazagan Beach Resort. The incredibly friendly and helpful staff were some of the best people I have ever encountered, full-stop. Our waiter at the Moroccan restaurant, Zakaryae, was the best server I've ever had - super nice guy, who was helpful with our menu choices, made my wife an origami rose out of a napkin, and had my leftover tagine delivered literally on a silver platter to my room via room service when I asked to get take-out (not a familiar concept there, I don't think). The bar staff was also really nice, and the happy hour with the live pianist was a great start to our night after a day of laying on the beach. The hotel was beautiful, and I have never seen so many landscaping staff anywhere I've been. The resort had a lot of amenities, like the well-equipped gym with a view of the ocean from the treadmill, TV and radio in the treadmill, and flavoured water and towels hand-delivered to you by the manager. We went to Mazagan in early September, and we were surprised how quiet it was - nowhere was even remotely crowded, and we had whole sections of beach largely to ourselves. Hiring a van to take us to Marrakech was yet another nice benefit of this place. I would love to go back to Mazagan, and would recommend it to anyone who could afford it (and even to some who couldn't!)
