We ventured beyond our half board package at the Belle Mare Plage hotel to experience a fine dining meal. The sense of occasion created by the setting and attentive but unobtrusive service was outstanding.
We particularly enjoyed the Gazpacho soup and the flexibility of the staff to create a sea bass fillet dish that was "off menu". The downside was the price - nearly £200 for two after the allowed meal supplement and including a decent bottle of South African Sauvignon Blanc which was near the bottom end of the wine list cost. The bill was considerably up-lifted by 2 brandies with coffee that cost nearly £50; of course all quoted prices are uplifted by 15% local VAT.
