I would definitely suggest the sea facing rooms, they are to die for, crystal clear water, white sand, the Hotels private beach was fantastic, the restaurant serves authentic Indian food, Got a very good welcome, the staff was friendly and mostly were Indians, so they were very Hospitable, Nice in house activities as well, Have good memories, would definitely want to go back. Rooms were very cosy and the view from the room was breathtaking.

Room Tip: Since its on a beach, I would definitely recommend the sea facing rooms.

We had 7 very nice days at Le Meridien. The staff are very friendly, helpful and professional. The food at La Faya, Cumin and 180 restaurant is also very good. Only need to invest a little in repairs of rooms and replace some of the furniture.

My husband and I spent 5 nights here in November 2012 as part of our honeymoon. Overall we enjoyed our Mauritius stay, but I found this resort to be somewhat average.

We had a ground level "starwood preferred" room. The room was large and spacious with a big living room area with a desk and lounge, and a large bedroom area. The room was very dark, the only light source being the back sliding doors during the day or the lights. The room was great however it was very dirty, our room was in desperate need of a good clean. House keeping did the bare minimum to tidy up and look clean at a glance, but our feet were so dirty just from walking around on our floors barefeet. I hated it, I always wore slippers or socks inside. Also, the bathroom was dirty, there was mould in the shower and in the grout between tiles in the shower. Bits of tiles in the bathroom were chipped off and it looked very tired and run down.

We were on honeymoon and for the most part enjoyed the stay. We were on an all inclusive package which was well worth the money, we made sure to get value out of that. The cocktails were a little watered down, though.

We tried all of the restaurants during our stay, heres what I thought of each:
La Faya - Seeing as it was part of the exclusive Nirvana WIng, I went in with high expectations but was disappointed with it. The food wasnt great, average at best. This is not fine dining as it is advertised to be, I have certainly been to better. Service was slow, too. The location was OK, over looking the water. As we were on the all inclusive package, we could choose an entre, a main and a dessert. Drinks were also included.

Cumin - This wasnt bad, it was an Indian Buffet. Not much variety but unlike the 180 buffet it is 100% Indian food every night. Situated pool side.

Shells - This one was quite nice, casual seafood on the beach. As we had the all inclusive package, you could choose an entre, a main and a dessert. The drinks were also included. Of the 3 restaurants we enjoyed this one the most.

180 Degrees Buffet Dinner - We did this for dinner twice, our first night and our last night. The first night was a French theme and it was soooo good! Amazing selection and really enjoyed it. The second night was Asian themed, this time not so great. I love Asian food, but didnt really dig this buffet attempt at it. The French themed night however, was superb.

180 Degrees Buffet Breakfast - We had breakfast here everyone morning. The pineapple was the best I have ever eaten!! It ran out so quickly. Yum! The breakfast spread was the same every morning so we got a little sick of it after a few days. There is a live cooking station for eggs and pancakes, made to order. you can get a selection of Asian food, such as congee and other yum cha like items. You can get cereals, toast, pre packaged yoghurt and fruits, as well as your hot foods like eggs, bacon and sausage etc. Was a good breakfast.

The spa was really good! It was expesnive however. Hubby and I did a couples spa treatment, it was wonderful! So relaxing. It was a rainy day so we decided to pass the time at the spa, such a nice afternoon, give it a try.

The resort is on the western side of Mauritius which is great for sunset, always beautiful sunsets. The resort is right on the beach, but its very rocky and full of hard dead coral at the bottom. It hurts your feet, so bring protective shoes. Your feet will thank you but you will look slightly daggy in Crocs. The boat house offers a range of water activities like peddal boats, kyaks and paid water skiing. There is a ping pong table on the beach too.

Overall it was an alright stay for our honeymoon, it wasnt amazing though and the dirty room was a major put off. Also the screaming kids in the pool made me wish we had booked an adults only hotel/resort, or at the very least, the Nirvana Wing. We also came from a 5 star luxury resort in Dubai so I had very high expectations and coming to this place with a dirty room was a stark comparison. Wifi was not included at this resort, it was available complimentary in the lobby and the lobby bar though. If you wanted it in your room, you had to pay expensive rate.

Staff were lovely, however.

We stayed at this hotel for ten nights in November 2012 whilst on holiday to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. I chose a ground floor sea view room in the Nirvana Wing which is over 16s only and seperate from the main hotel with it's own infinity pool, restaurant, bar and access to public beach. The hotel is in a great location right on the beach and the Nirvana Wing really does feel secluded and special. The pool and beach area were never overly crowded and it was always possible to get a couple of sunbeds where you wanted them. The ground floor room was a good choice as you have double doors to a small private patio area and then directly to the garden/pool area with sunbeds and hammocks in the coconut palms. Much better than a more expensive upper floor room where you have a balcony and maybe a better view of the sea, but you have to walk right through the reception and hotel wing and up the stairs to go back to get that book or suncream that you forgot!

The room itself was spacious and everything worked although there was some evidence of a hard life and a need for re-furbishment with some of the furniture and the bathroom tiles, grout etc. The air con worked fine as did the TV and the in room fridge was a real benefit. However, it was kept spotlessly clean and the daily maid service was superb with an endless supply of clean towels as you need them. Sheila was our room lady and she was lovely. She looked after us really well and brought nice little personal touches as well like small gifts for my wife.

Service overall in the hotel is really excellent. Everyone is very well trained, knowledgable, has perfect English and you really get the impression that they want to do the very best for you. Special thanks to Vic and the guys in the Beach Bar - great cocktails and great pool service - and also all the staff in the Cumin restaurant, the Concierge (didn't get the guy's name but he was a star!), and the front desk. Vic said to me "What makes a hotel is the staff" and he is spot on - well done team! Nice Blue Lagoons too!

The only thing that lets the hotel down a bit is the food range and qualilty. There is a large main restaurant (180 Degrees) which is OK but very busy and typical of the buffet style in big hotels. Now there was nothing wrong with the food, actually it was good, but I am not a fan of that kind of self service dining especially when on a special break - it's a bit like glorified school dinners! We ate there a couple of times but really for convenience only. The Indian downstairs, The Cumin, is also a buffet style but it is smaller and less busy. The food was really good and we ate there most nights. The Nirvana a la carte dining offering was less good. We had a couple of very poor meals there early on and didn't bother after that apart from breakfast and lunch, which was good if you don't mind sharing it with the birds. We did have a special "Lobster" meal on the beach (actually they were langoustine!) which was very good but eye wateringly expensive. The seafood style restauarant (Shells) was unfortunately closed for 9 nights during our visit which was a great shame because we ate there for lunch on the last day and it was great (try the octopus salad and the coconut creme brullet - Mmmmm....!).

We were on a full board package which included all meals plus soft and hot drinks between ten and six every day. This was a great option because unlike all inclusive, I did not feel the need to get on the lash from eleven every day! I also used the gym alot and although small and hot it did the job. My wife used the spa and this was good but again eye wateringly expensive.

Alcoholic drinks were good and well made and served, but they are expensive. Four quid for half of lager and seven for a G&T. Wine choice was limited (mostly South African) and very over priced - Cheap South African Sauvignon Blanc was forty quid a bottle. We bought Gordon's and Louis Roderer at the duty free on the way out hence the in room fridge coming in handy! There is a little shop next door for the purchase of tonic water!

Overall, a good stay in a fine location with great service and pretty good value let down slightly by the range and quality of the food offering.

Room Tip: Ground floor, sea view Nirvana is the best option for couples. Near the end of each wing is the best.

It was just amazing honeymoon trip for 2 of us .honestly we had started planning from August & then we read almost 100 reviews & basic nittie-grities of Mauritius hotels..Le Meridien ws just perfect..We asked Antilog Vacations to design this Mauritius trip as they offer cheap rates & r “the recommended” one for Mauritius Tours.Trip ws booked online in October for lower airfare!

Justifiably from our Flight to , speedboat, stay, tour etc ws handled well by Aseem ( Local tour guy ), Le meridien has lots of Indian-Asian guys comin so u feel a little familiar with the system..they also fr sure knw hw to treat honeymooners
