We stayed at this hotel for ten nights in November 2012 whilst on holiday to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. I chose a ground floor sea view room in the Nirvana Wing which is over 16s only and seperate from the main hotel with it's own infinity pool, restaurant, bar and access to public beach. The hotel is in a great location right on the beach and the Nirvana Wing really does feel secluded and special. The pool and beach area were never overly crowded and it was always possible to get a couple of sunbeds where you wanted them. The ground floor room was a good choice as you have double doors to a small private patio area and then directly to the garden/pool area with sunbeds and hammocks in the coconut palms. Much better than a more expensive upper floor room where you have a balcony and maybe a better view of the sea, but you have to walk right through the reception and hotel wing and up the stairs to go back to get that book or suncream that you forgot!

The room itself was spacious and everything worked although there was some evidence of a hard life and a need for re-furbishment with some of the furniture and the bathroom tiles, grout etc. The air con worked fine as did the TV and the in room fridge was a real benefit. However, it was kept spotlessly clean and the daily maid service was superb with an endless supply of clean towels as you need them. Sheila was our room lady and she was lovely. She looked after us really well and brought nice little personal touches as well like small gifts for my wife.

Service overall in the hotel is really excellent. Everyone is very well trained, knowledgable, has perfect English and you really get the impression that they want to do the very best for you. Special thanks to Vic and the guys in the Beach Bar - great cocktails and great pool service - and also all the staff in the Cumin restaurant, the Concierge (didn't get the guy's name but he was a star!), and the front desk. Vic said to me "What makes a hotel is the staff" and he is spot on - well done team! Nice Blue Lagoons too!

The only thing that lets the hotel down a bit is the food range and qualilty. There is a large main restaurant (180 Degrees) which is OK but very busy and typical of the buffet style in big hotels. Now there was nothing wrong with the food, actually it was good, but I am not a fan of that kind of self service dining especially when on a special break - it's a bit like glorified school dinners! We ate there a couple of times but really for convenience only. The Indian downstairs, The Cumin, is also a buffet style but it is smaller and less busy. The food was really good and we ate there most nights. The Nirvana a la carte dining offering was less good. We had a couple of very poor meals there early on and didn't bother after that apart from breakfast and lunch, which was good if you don't mind sharing it with the birds. We did have a special "Lobster" meal on the beach (actually they were langoustine!) which was very good but eye wateringly expensive. The seafood style restauarant (Shells) was unfortunately closed for 9 nights during our visit which was a great shame because we ate there for lunch on the last day and it was great (try the octopus salad and the coconut creme brullet - Mmmmm....!).

We were on a full board package which included all meals plus soft and hot drinks between ten and six every day. This was a great option because unlike all inclusive, I did not feel the need to get on the lash from eleven every day! I also used the gym alot and although small and hot it did the job. My wife used the spa and this was good but again eye wateringly expensive.

Alcoholic drinks were good and well made and served, but they are expensive. Four quid for half of lager and seven for a G&T. Wine choice was limited (mostly South African) and very over priced - Cheap South African Sauvignon Blanc was forty quid a bottle. We bought Gordon's and Louis Roderer at the duty free on the way out hence the in room fridge coming in handy! There is a little shop next door for the purchase of tonic water!

Overall, a good stay in a fine location with great service and pretty good value let down slightly by the range and quality of the food offering.

Room Tip: Ground floor, sea view Nirvana is the best option for couples. Near the end of each wing is the bes...

When u enter ivory sands on the north west coast of Mauritius , u immediately spot dis beautiful hotel.it is near the sea so the view from the hotel is just amazing ;all the rooms are sea facing because hotel is located near the west sea and from the rooms you can see the views

it’s the award winning hotel in Mauritius. It was just amazing honeymoon trip for 2 of us .honestly we had started planning from August & then we read almost 100 reviews & basic nittie-grities of Mauritius hotels..Le Meridien ws just perfect..We asked Antilog Vacations to design this Mauritius trip as they offer cheap rates & r “the recommended” one for Mauritius Tours.Trip ws booked online in October for lower airfare!

Justifiably from our Flight to , speedboat, stay, tour etc ws handled well by Aseem ( Local tour guy ), Le meridien has lots of Indian-Asian guys comin so u feel a little familiar with the system..they also fr sure knw hw to treat honeymooners

Hotel has many rooms according to your price and need deluxe room ocean view, deluxe garden room ocean view, premium deluxe room ocean view, nirvana garden room ocean view, premium nirvana room ocean view, family suite ocean view, honeymoon suite ocean view, duplex family suite ocean view, royal suite ocean view.

These rooms are fully furnished and it has all the modern facilities like mini bar, led TV, DVD player, tea maker and all rooms have private balcony and terrace which is vast & 3 side open
We stayed in honeymoon suite suite coz of our budget savings & a s planned. The food quality is awesome in the hotel all type of food is available in the hotel continental, Indian, Chinese, Italian. 180 degrees, la faya, cumin, shells, la croquet these are the restaurants in the hotel and bars are open till 12 am in the hotel where all types of drinks are available.

Hotel also has gym swimming pool and spa. Many activities that you can do in the hotel are water sport, diving, Chinese guest program big game fishing, and cruise around the island.

Hello!!

We were on a honeymoon trip for a week from 8-14Dec. We stayed at Le Meredien in Deluxe Ocean view rooms and it was wondeful. This is a very spacious and beautiful hotel. Here are our expereinces.

We reached the hotel at 11 am and got our rooms at 3pm. The international check in time is 1-2pm. Unlike other Hotels, Meredien is very particular about check-in time. So be careful. We enjoyed our lunch and beaches and didn't allow the delay to ruin our holiday.

We had deluxe ocean view rooms overseeing the beautiful sea and it was awesome. The rooms are neat, bathrooms are good and well maintained. The problem we faced is with the air conditioning (AC). It works well sometimes but they turn it off at night time. Its really hot. We made a few complaints but the technician told us that AC is centralised and all rooms are same and we got to live with it.Never mind, be positive and we didn't allow this to spoil our vacation.

The service is prompt and courteous. The reception and boys will always respond very nicely. And here is my observation that sets Meredien apart. The staff will not bother you unnecessarily. You will always have your privacy and space. They are always alert but will respond only when asked for. This culture is prevelant across restaurant, bars, beaches everywhere. So if you are on your honeymoon, they will ensure you enjoy it!!

The restaurants are open to space and good.So dont be surprised if sparrows and birds come chirping at your table. The also have pets (dogs) that live in harmony with guests. Again a Meredien culture that we thorougly enjoyed. Imagine sparrows sitting and giving both of you a warm comapany at breakfast!! However, many tourists from sub-continent didnt appreciate this ambience.I call it cultural differences.

The food is good. Nothing great or wow, but just good. There is an Indian restaurant, so we used it nicely.

Our tour travel guy made our trip very hectic. But the good thing with Meredien is there are lots of activities that you can do at resort itself like snorkeling, glassbottom boat, parasailing, watersking..we did all of them. However, please make prior bookings to avoid dissapointment. Again, the staff will not tell you or advise you or give you any schedule at the hotel .Everyting has to be done pro-actively.

The long walks, the beaches ,the spacious resort, sea view from room, good food, the tranquility (minus the air conditioning) all contributed to a beautify vacation. Special thanks to Ms Sarah for helping us all along.

Room Tip: Sea Facing rooms have a wonderful view

Bit of a drive from the city .. About 40 mins but well worth it. You get the feeling you are on your own private beach.
A must for all all beach lovers.

I stayed at Le Meridien for a long weekend while my husband was there for a two week conference. I thought the rooms were clean and well maintained, but very standard hotel rooms. The bathrooms were nice and big though. In future I would book a sea facing one to make the most of it.

The beach is lovely and clean and there are good options for watersports. Take or buy swimming booties/shoes as the coral on the beach can be quite sharp. The pools and lounging areas are gorgeous. The spa at Le Meridien is top notch. I loved my treatment there and would highly recommend it.

The food was nice - with a wide selection - but not amazing.

The highlight was renting bicycles (for very cheap) and taking a ride down the coast to Grand Baie. It's a very flat easy ride and the little towns and beaches along the way are beautiful.

Room Tip: Book a sea-facing room! The alternative view is very bland.

We had 10 very nice days at Nirvana Le Meridien. The staff are very friendly, helpful and professional. The food at La Faya restaurant is also very good. Nirvana is definitely the better option when staying at Le Meridien. The atmosphere at Nirvana is tranquil with the attentive staff catering for all food and drink needs of guests. The staff at Nirvana, specifically Raja, Kamal, Vinesh, Akash and Sheila were superb and we would definitely consider going back because of their special efforts.

The treatments at the spa were very good and the ambience of the spa is serene and relaxing.

The All Inclusive Package is a must otherwise the prices for food and drinks will become a concern.

What could be better: The inclusive Wifi at Nirvana was good especially the ability to use it around the pool and bar. It was however slower than what most people are typically used to. The hotel isn't new and some maintenance is probably required in some areas but fortunately that didn't negatively affect our experience. The Nirvana rooms are spacious. The Garden facing rooms not on the ground floor does overlook a rather shabby empty field so the Ocean View rooms are probably better.

All in all we can definitely recommend Nirvana at Le Meridien.
