Looking at so many positive and great reviews on this website about the Hotel and checking their hotels' home page, was eagerly looking forward to spend a wonderful memorable time at Le Recif but eventually got disappointed with respect to mainly the food; dinner and breakfast amongst other things.
.
I won't say that it was a total disapointment as there were some positive facts like a warm welcome from the General Manager, Mr. Raymond, friendly deputy manager Kevin, flexibility regarding check-in and check-out time, welcoming drink, helpfulness of SOME of the staffs etc

However,my wife and I were disappointed with the "menu a la carte" food options. Nothing special to say "Wow, what a dish!". Had to get along with what was basically offered and to eat something instead of being hungry. We understand that its a 3 star hotel and not affordable to offer open buffet every night but atleast some effort could have been made to offer more delicious dishes.

With respect to the breakfast, we were damn surprised that so limited variety of food was offered. When leaving our room, we thought of having a heavy breakfast but it was not meant to be. We have been to many other 3 Star hotels before and even during the same period of the year but never came across such situation whereby had so little variety of food for the breakfast. We were trying hard to put some good stuffs on our plate. Even the fruits being proposed were too basic, nothing extra, not to the standard of a nice 3 Star Hotel. Apologies for these comments but our previous experiences to other 3 Star hotels made us to inevitably compare (like to like) and realise that in relation to the dinner and breakfast, the hotel was well not to the expected standard.

I don't like to cite name about negative comments but that woman Kavita serving us the "omelette" (breakfast) was rude, not having a smile, like we were bothering her when requested for omelettes. Moreover, personally, we had this feeling that less attention was given to us, we felt neglected and often had to keep waiting for someone to attend to our requests. Don't know if its because we are local people (Mauritian) or something else but we were not made to feel valued like other customers (tourists/foreigners) who were being everytime taken care of and attended with a nice smile by the staffs while we were often being ignored. Please don't take it bad but we also paid for it, didn't stay free, then why this discrimination in treatment of customers????
It was the first time that at a hotel we felt this difference in treatment which made us feel down and was not a good start of the day. Only one thing was in our mind, "Enough now, lets go from here"

Sorry for the above long feedback but I consider that I need to share my wife's and my experience.

It is with much sadness and disappointment that I read your review on Trip Advisor.

I would like however to bring some points so that our readers may have some elements to complete the reading of your review.

Let me precise that offering a Table d’hôte dinner to our guests, (we do propose this twice a week) is not at all a question of money. Table d’hôte dinners are proposed to change a little from our traditional buffet style and our guests usually highly appreciate it: they are being served at their table and do not have to go and help themselves at the buffet.
I do understand your disappointment that on your only evening you spent at Récif Attitude it was not a buffet which is more popular with our local guests.
Our Table d’hôte are however always composed with a choice of 2 dishes for starter, main course and dessert.

Regarding breakfast , I insist that we do offer what is standard for a 3* hotel. Breakfast includes a selection of fruits, cereals, yogurt, viennoiseries , bread , fruit juices, cakes, cheese, selection of jams, eggs proposed in all style (omelette, fried, poached, scrambled ) sausages or bacon , rice or pasta, pancakes with its selection of sugar.
I remember that you did mention that some chocolate sauce was missing for your wife when we met at your check-out as well as the fact that you were expecting a buffet and I regret that you did not take the time to express your points with our staff members at the time.

I would like to also apologize for giving you the impression that some of our staff were not smiling and that you might have been discriminated against. I assure you that this is not a common practice at our hotel and I am truly sorry you felt that way.
The local market is being regarded as any other markets visiting our hotel hence its importance.

Once again, I welcome feedback from guests staying at the hotel as it help us improve our services and better cater to them. It is sad that during the conversations we had (we had a few actually, including at check-out), nothing was mentioned about your experience.

We do again regret that you did not enjoy your one night stay at Récif Attitude.

The pics on their site look better than the room does but it's not false advertising as the room does look like the pics - the pics just look a bit better (if that makes sense). The hotel is nice - not too big so it feels homely. Management is always present and around to greet and welcome guests.

We had the beachfront suite (not deluxe). This room is directly in front if the swimming pool that overlooks the beach. I liked the location of this room as we could literally walk out of our room into the pool and it was close to the dining / WiFi area. The beach here is quite rocky so bring swimming shoes/socks. The hotel does sell them but I think it'll be cheaper if you bring your own.

Breakfast is similar every day but not exactly the same so it's a nice to not have the usual stuff all the time. I really enjoyed the dinners (we stayed on a half board basis) and wanted to try the other restaurant (upstairs) as well but the food in the restaurant was different every night so we didn't want to miss anything and ended up not trying the other restaurant. Breakfast is the usual cereal, eggs (however you want it), sometimes mushrooms, sometimes beans - the pancakes/crepes are really good. I had these every morning. Dinner ranged from grilled fish, various curries, pastas - basically everything..and each night there's a fair selection.

The room is fairly basic with the bed, aircon, a TV (only French channels), separate toilet, freestanding shower (i.e not in a lockable room) and a basin. Clothes can be hung in a closet that closes with a curtain. The room was clean and perfect for us because we didn't stay in the room much - only at night.

The location isn't great. It's quite far from Grand Baie and any lively areas so we spent a lot of time travelling to and fro to get to places. The taxis are generally more expensive than the buses - but we didn't feel like waiting on long bus rides so we mostly took taxis.

There's a spa on site and a beach bungalow where you can get snorkel gear and other watersports equipment.

We really enjoyed our stay and can't praise staff highly enough. Management also excellent and really keen to ensure you enjoyed your stay. Nothing was too much trouble.

As mentioned by others late check outs etc where no problem and no extra charges for doing so

Beach is small but very nice and snorkeling was very good. I recommend you don't go at low tide and make sure you swim out a reasonable distance to see some nice coral, fish, eels and lobster

The hotel staff realy try their best to make your stay as pleasant as possible,the beach area is great for snorkelling & surfing.Not many watersport activities on offer.Best suited for those who want a lovely relaxing holiday at the beach.Great all round family destination.

I had stayed for 10 days in this hotel and have no words to say that how much a good experience I and my family had staying at this hotel. I must thank Raymond - GM of this hotel for taking such good care of me and my family. It was my birthday on 2oth April, and Raymond had arranged for a birthday cake as a surprise for my wife while we were having our dinner. It was such a good and nice thought that it is unforgetable.

Service and office staff matched in every corner and with their pleasant smile made a big difference for us. I must thank the Head of Room Service (forget her name) who went out of her way to assist us in each and every way to make our holiday comfortable. There was no words to compliment the food, it was just awsome and so delicious.

I rate this hotel as 5 star servive for their excellent customer service and courtesy that was extended to all the guest that were coming to stay in this hotel. Located at a very promient place and besides the beach it was just amazing. The tour of the hotel when you check in was just very important for any guest to know the hotel and its facilities available.

The rooms were not very big but can accomdate a average family, though the open bathroom system was a bit odd but when we were shifted to another room, that has a wonderful bathroom and the rooms were big.

I would recommend all to stay at this hotel as it serves you a 5 star service and attention. I thank all the staffs and management from heart and will revist this hotel again.

Nice hotel, with excellent staff. We had a nice time, my wife and I and we enjoyed a peaceful holiday. The Spa services were up to the level we expected, the hotel offers free access to Sauna and Hamaam.

The food was good, a good choice for residents. The restaurant is tidy and tables are well organised. The garden and hotel surroundings are kept clean, same for the swimming pool.

We had a hotel representative who really cared about us, and all issues we could have during our stay, we appreciated. The staff was always caring and did everything we asked with a beautiful smile. Even the hotel manager was around, ensuring everything was ok.

Safety : Security guards are very friendly, CCTV cameras operate in the garden and on the beach. We felt safe, without being disturbed.

On the overall, it was a nice experience, we had a pleasant stay and enjoyed our holidays.

Room Tip: Rooms in front of the sea provide better sleep quality with the sound of waves

The location of Recif was excellent, right on the coastline which boasts a beautiful small beach stretch... We found the staff extremely friendly and overall very accomodative in terms of little things like late checkout / early checkin, no arguments at all on any charges etc. The attention to detail at the Recif was also very impressive in terms of cleanliness, caring for guests making it a memorable stay.

Overall we found the Recif as an excellent place to stay in Mauritius and great value for money too!
