Travellers who love the beach should definitely stay at this resort. The restaurant overlooks the beach and hence you sort of have a private beach area just across your room. People are friendly and the food is nice too.

Stroll across the beach or care for a walk down the road you find beautiful scenic spots where you can relax, have a quick bite or just lie in good scenic ambience.

If you are looking for shopping at the markets or the city area attractions then this location at Flic en Flac is too far off. However you can go to the Safari which is close by. Other attractions are also not too far away but since in any way you will need to planyour trip to other attractions hence it might not make that big a difference.

Rooms are small in sze but the overall ambience is okay.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms facing the beach for a good view. Check the sizes as they differ.

If you're looking for a 3-star hotel with a great beeach location, this is excellent value for money. It's a small cosy hotel with very motivated and friendly staff. The rooms are different in style and facilities, mine was fine and spacious - it just needed some fresh air, as the windows seemingly hadn't been opened in a while. There was aircon and TV and Wlan at xtra cost.

Food was decent with good variety, but as mentioned the staff was great. When asking for a citronella tea, someone went into the garden and cut it fresh for us!

And Soobash the driver is just amazing. He knows Mauritius as well as any guide and is the best driver I've had in Mauritius (and I know a few): smooth, easy-going, knows all the scenic routes or the secret paths during rush-hour, and he'll keep you entertained in a very relaxed way. He also brought me papaya from his mum's house and did several special interest detours whenever we required them. And he does it for the fun of it, not for the tip - great!

In this very small and intimate setting of the hotel you get to know the other guests and make friends quickly... Enjoy your stay, we enjoyed ours.

This is a small hotel right on the beach and staff are friendly and helpful.
The hotel is not a luxurious five star Mauritian resort, nor does it pretend to be, so don’t go with such expectations. If your needs are more down to earth and you are happy with a more relaxed approach to holidays, then the Gold Beach Resort should suit you.
Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable, but not all rooms have a balcony and some that do are shared, so don’t expect total privacy. Bathrooms are modern with a shower, at least my room only had a shower, which worked well once you waited for the hot water to make its way through the system to you.
Breakfast and dinner are both buffet style but there is an a la carte menu as well, although choices from the latter really need to be made in advance. Food is plentiful but not cordon bleu – again don’t expect the 5 star treatment. However, the restaurant staff are very keen to do whatever they can to meet your requests. Lunch is also available.

The traditional Mauritius music and dance evening is about as boisterous as it gets at Gold Beach, but don’t plan to have an early night on that one occasion, as it is loud. However, all is over by about 11pm.

The hotel is on a fine stretch of beach but the coral reef just off the coast does deposit quite a lot of coral on the sand, so be prepared with protective footwear when venturing into the sea. Having said this, the sharp coral is not just confined to the beach next to this hotel, but all in the area are affected.

The grounds are very well kept and the swimming pool is well maintained. It is large enough, providing you are not planning on swimming several strenuous lengths before breakfast.

Two other points – if you are one of those people addicted to social networking sites, don’t go expecting free wifi - it is available but at a cost. Also, there are no kettles in the rooms for those who expect to have a cup of tea before getting out of bed.

The walk into Flic en Flac takes about 20mins, but there are a couple of little supermarkets and some souvenir shops just outside the hotel. The local bus passes by every 10-15mins and would take you to Quatre Bornes or Port Louis.
Reception can arrange car hire – rates are very reasonable.

I liked it very much at the Gold Beach Resort and would be very happy to return. Many thanks to all the staff who made my stay so enjoyable. If your expectations are fairly modest, easier said than done if you are planning a holiday in Mauritius, then try the Gold Beach Resort and I hope you will be pleasantly surprised.

The room we were given appeared a little too small by star hotel standards. staff are very nice. the price of internet and telephone charges very high compared to net cafe/ simcard fro m Mtel
I t was disappointing to note that glass bottom boat complimentary ride is withdrawn. we had a very good tour on the whole

Room Tip: you can get better offer of mauritian rupees from Thomas cook than form hotel

it was an outstanding experience spending our moments in this hotel. We were welcomed warmly. Our room was very neat and well lighted. The resort had a wonderful beach on one side and the view was niceee!!!.
The only problem we had was with the stupid gurl @ the reception, which name was pricilla, that gurl does not know how to talk to customers, i would hv reported her to the hotel manager if i had more time, she dont deserve to be on any reception!!!
Beside that stupid gurl, everything was perfect, every staff were wonderful, ready to help, i would be recommending this hotel to my relatives and sure am coming back.....

We have bought the last minute stay at Pearl Beach Resort for 15 days (half board), flight from Frankfurt.
For only 1190 Eur it was excellent choice...

At the beginning of our stay there were only few guests in the hotel and the service was really like in 5star hotel.. All staff was extremely kind and serving excellently. The dinners were served a-la-carte. Only later when the hotel became full the dinner was served as buffet, but it was OK as well.. (Try smoked marlin.. ;-))

There are good possibilities for active holidays: we have tried free snorkeling trips, kayak, glass bottom boat, but the hotel offers also for free water skiing, windsurfing and small yachts. There is great snorkeling place just around 600m from the hotel - you can swim there directly... In the evening we use to play beach volleyball with other guests.. Running on the 7-8km beach around the sunset is unforgettable..
Flic-en-Flac beach is definitely the most beautiful beach (also with beaches around Le Morne) in Mauritius. We have visited them all around the island, but south west is the most beautiful part of the island.
Do not forget water shoes as many small coral pieces are on the beach, even it is cleaned every day...
Do not waste money with many trips on the island. Max 3 days car rental would be enough.. Because of have traffic driving is quite exhausting.. Cheap local buses are also good option.. Visit the local market in Quatre Bornes (on Thursdays and Sundays), where you can buy all those pearls and coral bracelets 2-3 times cheaper than from the local dealers selling on the beach.. (be careful)..
There is small supermarket near the hotel, but better prices and more choice are in Spar in the village center (nice 20 min walk on the beach).
Some guests paid much-more money for shorter 10 days all-inclusive stay.. Half board is fully enough, although the price of the drinks in the hotel is not so low...

And of course do not ever forget incredible sunsets seeing just from your hotel window and balcony...
This hotel is not 100% perfect, but it has very nice atmosphere, location directly on the beach is excellent and we fully recommend it for the visitors..
