We decided to come to Mauritius for our honeymoon. Our choice for La Pirogue was excellent! The hotel itself is beautiful, very well taken care and the staff is just the best ! I’ve never been so well treated in a hotel as I was here. I can mention several employees that deserve congratulations for their politeness, real concern for our needs and care for they provided. At Le Morne bar I was wonderfully received by Goodeo, a gentleman and incredible person to talk. He made my wife and I feel we really matter. Also Jean Luc was extremely kind and helpful, and a big fan of soccer. At the Van Der Stel Wine Bar we were welcomed by Jean Pierre, a first line sommelier and also a sweet and caring professional, with whom also was a pleasure to talk to. We are in debt for the great wine suggestions he gave us.
I have to mention Mr. Feroza and Madam Josiane at the Wolmar Restaurant. They are great!
The pool is beautiful, with an endless border. But here is a warning: in September the water temperature is quite cold, you don’t feel much desire to jump in. The same goes for the sea temperature. Although it’s breathtakingly beautiful, it’s also quite cold this time of the year. We were advised to come in the summer (November to February), when the weather is much more warm, as is the water.

Really lovely resort and wonderful staff in all areas, specifically the gym, (cannot remember the ladies name but she spoke English and German and was incredibly friendly and helpful). Kristelle was another lovely and helpful member as was Stephané and Tyson in the bar areas ...both were a lot of fun and accommodating and Sashiwin deserves a special mention for his help and advice and showing us the wine bar/wine card option.

On arrival it would've been nice to have a bit more of an introduction to the hotel as we didn't know about the wine bar option and which restaurants/bars were available to us with our half board option and that there was a first aid/clinic centre in the main building and general locations of things, we had to figure it out for ourselves or ask. It looked as though other people arriving had a bit more of a conversation with their member of staff greeting them whereas we were just left to sit and then just spoken to to sign/confirm information.

All other times the reception staff were great. They always went above and beyond to help with any help we needed, especially when we needed a laptop. Check out was easy and the lady was very helpful and friendly too. One particular gentlemen at reception, (sorry didn't get his name), not only told me where I could borrow a book from, he actually walked with me and showed me.

The resort is clean and well maintained and the buffet and restaurants were great - especially the wine bar area which was a fantastic concept. Magenta was a favourite of ours, the food and the staff were exceptional!

One thing that could be nice would be a if there was a small snack bar that you could just buy fresh fruit, nuts, and just general snack food from and not a whole lunch (you could buy sandwiches and salads and have them delivered to your sun bed which was fantastic but sometimes we just wanted something small for the beach. The boutique prices were quite high for crisps/nuts etc).

The room was lovely, clean, well decorated, plenty of clothing space and had a large, clean well-equipped bathroom.

I had been made aware, (via trip advisor), that the rooms were not very soundproofed, and this was very true. We could hear everything from the people in the bungalow joining ours really clearly. Also, we were close to the bar (bungalow 90) and the music was so loud it was as if we were still at the bar. It is not possible to have any quiet time until 11pm when the music stopped. If the rooms could be better soundproofed, then they would be perfect as this was the only fault with them.

We didn't know there would be so many men selling gifts on the beach and, although most - not all, were not too pushy it did become a bit tiresome having to deal with them all day, every day, on the beach. Maybe there could be just a certain time of the day for them to come past so that people can just relax and read their books and sunbathe or a maybe even a designated area where they could set up and sell things by the beach instead of disturbing people, the people could go to them if they want something.

I hope that this doesn't come across as too negative as the entire stay was near perfect and we would definitely come back to La Pirogue again and will definitely be recommending it to friends and family.

Room tip: We stayed in bungalow #90 and you hear everything from the bar until 11pm.

Thank you for your nice comments on the Resorts’ facilities and services. We are pleased to read that you were very satisfied with our hospitality. We appreciate your constructive feedback which of course help us in improving our services where necessary.

However, we take note of your comments concerning check in and the information available. We do try to provide you with the basic consistent information about the resorts’ facilities and services and our guest relations staff are available 16hrs a day for any further assistance or information required. Likewise we have a dedicated restaurant concierge also located in the lobby to provide information on all our dining possibilities both at La Pirogue and our sister hotel Sugar Beach. Otherwise the daily activities at the Resort are advertised; in the weekly Gazette provided in room, on screens in the Lobby and our guest relation team is also available to assist you with any query you may have with regards to your excursions and other requirements. A printed directory of services is provided in all our rooms which includes a quick dial directory to all the facilities and services on the complex. In addition guests are invited to download our mobile application form either the app store of Google play giving you direct access to all our facilities and services on the move. The app in addition allows you to make restaurant and spa reservations including Sugar Beach outlets, read our daily programme and the international news flyer as well, in the language of your choice.

We are sorry you were disturbed by the beach hawkers and would like to reassure you that the team concerned has been briefed accordingly. Nonetheless, our guests may approach our Beach Butler and inform them that they do not want to be disturbed during a period of time. They will then ensure that a ‘Do not disturb’ sign is attached to your sunbed.

At the same time, we apologise for the discomfort caused by the neighbouring noises and the music at night. We would have been happy to move you to a location away from the entertainment so as to avoid disturbance from the entertainment had you requested the same and will keep this on file for your next stay with us.

Everthing over expectations. All around is beatiful, the food is amaising (the chef makes magic), the winebar is great idea, many special details and service, the best. They made us fell at home. I didn't want to leave.

Everything was excellent.The hotel staff is very friendly and always ready to help.Cleaning was carried out, in my opinion, constantly. :-) The room was always clean. The hotel area is large and very well maintained.

Spent a week in La Pirogue and enjoyed it immensely. From the moment we arrived at check in we were welcomed by everyone. The location is excellent, with a beautiful beach and outstanding views. All staff were friendly and helpful, our bungalow was very comfortable and clean, you have great housekeeping staff. The food was great at Wolmar restaurant, on the our last evening we treated ourselves to dinner at Magenta, which is well worth a visit. Watching the sunset with a cold beer at the beach bar is a highlight of the day. Sad to have to leave, but thank you for a great holiday with lots of memories.
