We went on a family holiday and stayed at the Hilton resort. We had a great time.
Service was excellent. Every request of ours was attended to from gluten free bread at breakfast , connecting rooms to a late check out! We felt totally at home with very friendly and efficient staff. Hotels activities were excellent. Food was great. Twice we ate at the Ginger thai, and other restaurant . Room service menu was good too. Sunset was amazing. Rooms were good size. We had a great time.

Room Tip: Ours was facing the ocean , it was perfect.

We were looking for a one week break, just enjoying waterski, swimming & Scuba diving. We found all this at the Hilton. Although I wasn't too exited to spend my holidays at a Hilton, we were both amazed! It was already our third time in Mauritius (Club Med, Victoria & Royal Palm (2 last, both Beachcomber)) & we have to admit it was our 2nd best stay (as no hotel can compete with THE Royal Palm :)). As usual the staff in Mauritius is just fantasticly kind, whether it's for the roomservice, at the restaurant, at the boathouse or the beach. The food was perfect (we were told the Hotel won the award of best breakfast in Mauritius, I guess it's true, as it was just great!). Our special thanks to the SPA (massage) team, the boat team (Daniel & Jean-Hughes) & the lady in charge of the delicious fruit juice in the morning. We've loved eating all the fresh seazonal fruits : lichi's, ananas, Mango, ... This hotel is very OK if you want to stay quiet, not if you intend to do many sports in top condition. The spot we're brought to for waterskiing is behind the coral reef, in the bay & quiet wavy. You will mainly enjoy on a wake board, not on a monoski. The Scuba diving is operated by a very professional team, located at the neighbouring hotel "La Pirogue". It's a full service as all your equipment is mounted & ready to use for you & there's a pick up and delivery service at & from your hotel. They take time to explain the divespot beforehand & the team is very secure. Two advices: take watershoes, and go for a swim with the dolphins! Thank you Team Hilton & We promise we'll be back!

Room Tip: Best rooms are close to boat house or infinite swimming pool (preferably with view to sea)

We visited the Hilton Mauritius as part of a group of friends (8 adults and 2 little kids) for a week in early December. The property had been booked through a popular online portal in India for a half-board (breakfast & dinner) plan.

First off, the staff at the reception was warm & welcoming - we were asked to wait in a comfortable area near the bar while check-in formalities were completed (which took some time as we were a large group). A refreshing welcome drink was served as well.

The rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. The bathrooms, in particular, were large and well designed...didn't give a feeling of being cramped at all. The lady who showed us ou r rooms was clear in explaining details of what all was complimentary and/or chargeable. Housekeeping on successive days was efficient and faultless; it was a pleasure coming back to the room every evening.

Meals were of a reasonably high standard as one would expect from a luxury property. Given that we had kids in our group, we did not dine in any restaurant other than La Pomme d'Amour. While breakfast was stand-out impressive, some of the vegetarians in our group expressed that the variety at the dinner buffet could have been better. Each buffet did have some stand-out super dishes though (across courses). Special mention of the staff - they were very attentive & caring towards the requirements of the children...requests to provide heated milk etc were promptly handled and, towards the end of the trip, even pre-empted. Well done!!

The concierge desk was very helpful - we used their services for arranging cabs for our excursions (a sedan to the nearby Flic-en-Flac town costs MUR 200 one way).

There are a host of activities that are available at the property itself...these will be listed on a document in the room. I'd recommend that one reads this document thoroughly and also takes an exploratory walk around the entire property (it is BIG). This will certainly help plan and prioritize one's stay in Mauritius.

Each evening sees an entertainment activity (music and/or dance) that should not be missed. The ceremonial lighting of the torches that dot the property also makes for interesting viewing.

I will reiterate the importance of water that people have mentioned in other reviews - it is a five star hotel on an island after all and bottled water is expensive. A complimentary bottle (500 ml) per head is given out at the pool/beach each morning but is clearly not enough to keep oneself hydrated. It is worth the effort to stock up on water (1.5 liter bottles) from supermarkets. The restaurants allow you to carry your own water when you dine.

Free wi-fi at the lobby was sufficient for our requirements. We also had taken local pre-paid mobile connections (the provider was Emtel and a starter pack offer of MUR 100 applicable at the time included a SIM card along with MUR 87 of talk time and 100 MB of data valid for a week).

Lastly, a big thank you to the staff...all of them were courteous & helpful at all times. We were even provided an ice box and wine glasses (at no charge) when we asked it it was okay to open a bottle of our own champagne at the beach. On two successive days!! My wife developed a mild allergy due to overexposure to the sun and the in-house nursing officer attended to her. The next day, we even got a follow-up call to inquire if she was feeling better and if we wanted the hotel to call for a doctor.

I will certainly recommend this property to anyone exploring options in the lovely island of Mauritius.

Room Tip: All rooms face the ocean, but if you want a clearer view of the water, ask for a room on the first f...

I stayed in the Hilton for a week starting 6th Dec 13 to 12th Dec 13 for my honey moon, after lot of reasearch I choose the Hilton for my stay. I must say one of the best part of my trip to Mauritius was staying at the Hilton . The hotel is located at a very nice location , with amazing views. Loved the fish pond right next to the restraunt , feeding the fish is addictive :) , this was a part of our everyday activity. The hotel is well connected with the public transport system with a bus stop right next to the Hotel if you want to explore on your own and want to avoid taking a taxi to the nearest market and places like Casela and Port Louis , bus option is available.

The SPA is really nice with well trained and highly professional staff , it was realaxing , you will have to book a day in advance. The service is excellent.

The customer service desk at hotel is great. The team really took care of all my requests quickly and made my stay wonderful. A big thankyou to the customer service team. Overall the staff was great and defnitely 5 star service.

We were on a half board plan ( Breakfast and Dinner included)
Breakfast is great with a variety of options to choose from , this was the most enjoyble meal for me and my wife. However they need to improve on the dinner options with so many Indian Couples staying in Hilton they had arranged a seprate vegetarian secition with Indian food, but the food was not that great and needs a lot of improvement. I am sure a bit of more diversity in the menu would be great, and even our European freinds would defnitely enjoy a Chicken tikka/ Tandoori chicken for dinner, Indian Bread/ Naan should defnitely be on the buffet which was absent. I was surprized to see that Ice cream was never in the buffet menu for the entire week.

I used the lobby wi-fi which is pretty decent, I tend to stay away from internet when on holiday. In case you are on a business trip or just can't stay away from emails , uploading/downloading etc. then better plan a alternative the hotel wifi rates can hurt your wallet a bit. I am used to
comlimentary wi-fi in hotel rooms :).

Complimentary water bottles are provided on the check-in day only . At least a one litre should be provided comlimentary everyday. A 500 ml bottle can cost you around MUR 150 plus taxes , they same is available in the market @ MUR 20 only. But its 5 star beach resort so don't be surprized :).

To summarize

Hotel location/Ambience : Excellent
Service: Excellent
Spa: Excellent
Food :
Breakfast : Excellent
Dinner: Average ( can be improved)
Other services ( Pool , facilities etc. ) Good

Thanks,
Sumit

On the west coast of Mauritius with a nice stretch of sandy beach, this is a great place for relaxation but also for a company retreat. Service was excellent on arrival and during the entire stay. Breakfast offers a nice spread of fruits, fruit juice, and good pastry. The Thai restaurant offers good Thai food, though altered to European taste, which was not what I was expecting. Dinner on the beach served by the French restaurant on a Thursday night was a great way to end a long day of business meeting. The lobster - the grilled portion - was excellent. I recommend having the whole lobster grilled instead of half of it grilled, and the other half in curry and in a tomato sauce.
It was great watching the sunset daily and it paid to just be on the beach and take the time to watch the sunset over the Indian ocean. Each sunset was unique.
The room is comfortable and the massage at the spa was great. The spa also offers steam bath and sauna, which was a good way to unwind after meetings and before dinner.

We were in Maurice in April 2012 for a short holiday. It is a beautiful country with lovely people.
The hotel was so nice and they looked after us very well. We enjoyed the Thai restaurant and the free water sports at the hotel.
A romantic location and they also have a childrens club which is very useful!

Room Tip: suite room near the beach is best if you can get it!

I have stayed at many five star properties and travelling for my honeymoon I was very careful to select the resort with some good reviews. Not all is true for this resort as mentioned otherwise. I will start with the pros : Breakfast is decent here, there are evening activities on the house for guests which is pretty standard if you ask me for resorts in Mauritius. there is a choice of two restuarants for people on half board meal choice but honestly, with a very limited menu options to choose from which makes it a very shallow experience to explore the restuarants in case you are willing to avoid the hustle at the buffet restuarant. Location wise its not too close to the Flic en Flac beach but is close enough to public bathing area due to which you have locals easily intruding the hotel shack and mingling with guests.
I have horrible experience at this resort after i decided to stay here for the fact that i am someone who admires sunsets more than sunrises and there is a lot of offer in mauritius landscapes for nature admirers. At our check in, we were given decent rooms but owing to (some miscommunication from the travel agents), hotel was not informed of the Honeymoon package being availed by us, hence none of the amenities supposed to be provided to us were absent in our room. On enquiring with the travel agent and the hotel, they covered it with certain part of the amenities by sending us part of this package. I had to make several calls to recieve the rest of it which anyhow was not delivered after some of the hotel staff admitted to have got a confirmation from the travel agent that we are indeed booked as honeymooners. This also included a Spa voucher for half hour massage which was never delivered but the rest of these services took time till the last day of our stay and continuous requests for final delivery.

I tried one of the in house restaurants being a patron of continental cuisine, melazine the italian restuarant, and to our horror, we found a human hair in our dish which was refused by our server as being one. How stupid is that for a cover up. the other guy in the restuarant however lacked the coordination and acknowledged his mistake to cover this incident with sending us a packed chicken pizza. This same night, my wife suffered food allergy who needed immediate attention to avoid getting rashes and soars all over her body. Since, she is a doctor herself, and with the absence of any doctor in the resort late in the night (around 1030PM) we searched for medicines in the medical room ourselves which were also absent. The doctor when contacted refused to come over and advised her to take pills instead of injections which would have ruined the rest of our honeymoon to be continued in Dubai later. She took control of herself and we went to the nearest clinic and bore expenses of all this event on our own. The hotel staff when contacted next day, refused any ownership or lack of amenities to clear their hands off this event.
After all this and the events lined up, i just wanted to run away from this hotel. I strongly recommend Patrons looking some piece of mind and relaxation to consider other options on the beach. La Pirogue and Sugar Beach looked good to me but i wish i had not taken the brand value of Hilton for granted while booking for my honeymoon.

Dear Ikshit1985

We are very sad that you did not enjoy our resort and that in spite of our efforts to be agreeable to you during your stay, we were not up to your satisfaction.

However, we wish to clarify a few points as your comments could be wrongly interpreted by some readers:

As explained to you during your stay, the package you bought with your travel agency is not a Honeymoon package; therefore the amenities and other honeymoon offers were not included in your chosen package. However, as we wanted your honeymoon to be pleasant, some amenities were offered to you complimentary and at our discretion. We trust you will understand that we cannot offer all to you as it would be unfair to those guests who pay for the full package.

We are very surprised with your comments about a human hair as we follow very high food hygiene standards. We replaced your dish with a new one and we fulfilled your request for a chicken pizza in your room to show you our good faith. We are sorry your wife suffered from food allergy, we are always careful when we are notified in advance of any allergy and regret we were not informed beforehand. We sincerely hope that she has now fully recovered.

The hotel doctor is available 24/7 upon guest request; we contacted him for you but you opted for the nearby Clinique de l’Occident.

We are deeply sorry that the above points have marred your overall impression of our property. We generally receive very good comments from our guests. Should you decide to come back in the future, please contact us before your arrival and we will ensure you are well looked after.
