“Good stay, but not brilliant”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

My stay at the Hilton had mixed feelings, on one hand there is an incredible infrastructure, many many activities that you can do for free (sea and inland), the staff is mostly kind and attentive, the rooms are very good, the location is great, the breakfast is quite good with a lot of variety, they were kind with the welcome gifts offered.
On the other side there were many flaws...
- internet in the room costs 100 euros per week and the computers that provide free internet access in the lobby are outdated with different incomprehensible software.
- One night they decided to organize a wedding party in front of the boat house (just 20 meters in front of my room) with disco and dance floor. Unlucky me that night stayed in and was trying to watch movie... the music was so loud that the chair in my room was vibrating.
- One morning we had to leave early so we tried to access the buffet breakfast 10 min before opening time, we were denied... everything was there, we just wanted to have a croissant and go. We were denied access and told to go to another restaurant (were we would have to order, wait and pay an additional fee).
- The quality of the meals (non breakfast) we had was quite variable... we had some great lunches and some poor one's (unacceptable if you consider the prices of meals in the hotel).
- The diving experienced provided by the centre present in the hotel was quite poor, definitely not a 5 star service.

In sum, it was a global nice stay, we enjoyed it, but given the price it was far from exceeding our expectations.

We were a family of 11 and had a super stay at Hilton.
The hotel, the beach, the room, the food and most importantly the service was really really good.
We had shifted to this hotel after staying in Le Meridien for 4 nights and this was a very pleasant contrast.
Would strongly recommend this hotel.

My wife, three children and I have just returned from a superb beach holiday at the Hilton. The location on Flic-en-Flac beach is perfect. Although the hotel was full, there was always a choice of sun loungers available, either round the large free form pool (with waterfalls!!) or on the beach.
We were upgraded to an enormous suite, with our children accommodated in an ajoining room. Both rooms were beautifully furnished, large, airy and spotlessly clean.
We took full advantage of the free watersports, kayaks, pedaloes, lazers, and Hobby Cats. Free water-skiing was also available. There were even free glass bottom boat trips, and daily trips to watch the dolphins offshore.
Hilton breakfasts are always special, but this was the best we had experienced on any of our twelve Hilton holidays.
Added to the above were the superb staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They were always helpful and eager to please.
All in all, a superb hotel.

Room Tip: There is nightly musical entertainment, so rooms away from the main building are quieter.

Fabulous hotel and the staff were extremely friendly. Service was a little slow at times but this was a holiday so what's the rush?

Beautifully designed hotel with wildlife in all the trees. Lovely white sand beach with a beautiful lagoon to swim, snorkel, sail or do any of the myriad activities available. Learning to waterski at my age was probably not the best idea!

Great free activities and helpful staff all around. Will definitely go again.

We spent our 15th Wedding anniversary here and were very impressed. The facilities are excellent - and all backed up by top staff delivering friendly service. Our room was superb, right on the beachfront. The food at all 3 restaurants was excellent - we particularly enjoyed the Thai buffet on a Fridat at Ginger Thai. We particulary enjoyed the nightly unique Torch ceremony which was moving and totally recommend the couples massage is expensive but well worth it

Our holiday to Mauritius was from 20th September returning on 1st October. We had an amazing time and wish to thank The Holiday Place, Solis and the Hilton for a wonderful Wedding ,special thanks to Anisa, Dave the wonderfully funny photographer and the florist in particular for all your hard work and to Naseem for being so kind to my step-son and being a witness at our wedding. We loved and fully appreciated all your hard work and warmth.

My first tip to anyone flying to Mauritius would be to avoid Air Seychelles we learned the hard way when we come here a few years ago. This time we flew BA and had no complaints.

The hotel itself has a wonderful reception area and grounds, the staff are truly an asset , helpful polite hardworking and friendly. We were on full board plus which i fully recommend as it included Breakfast lunch and dinner as well as water and wine/beer or fruit juice otherwise the price of these could become excessive. There was a wide variety of choice and fish, sea food lovers will be pleased. They also catered for vegetarians with vegetable curry dishes.
The rooms were cleaned twice a day to a very high standard and towels replaced . The mini bar was not included (fair enough) and if desired you could place items from the spa supermarket from town in the fridge. Teas and coffees in the room were plentiful and unlike many hotels were frequently replenished without us needing to ask. A minor criticism is that the rooms lack a wow factor and could do with updating. The toiletries were also frequently restocked without asking and were of a good quality this included soap, bath shower gel, shampoo, conditioner , moisturiser, aloe vera gel and flannels so no need to take your own.

Again we had an amazing time but there are two things that prevent me from awarding this Hotel 5 stars firstly Internet access in the room is ludicrously expensive $100 for the week. We got around this fact by going to the new local shopping centre and finding a phone shop that enabled us to get a chip that was compatible for our smart phone and Ipad. secondly, the pool was cold and i don't mean refreshing i mean freezing which meant that it was underused except by more hardy children.

Another tip I have is to book your car rental back in the UK this saves time and money and believe me you will want to explore particularly down south which isn't so developed...... at the moment......... likewise if you wish to walk with Lions at Casela nature park we did this on the last trip and it really is worthwhile this time we did the safari which is also well worth the trip.

Would I stay at this hotel again... yes. The beach and sunsets are lovely and the staff first class. We also liked Flic en Flac and more preciously Wolmar where the Hilton is based. At this time of year it is definitely better on this side of the Island rather than on the East.We also went into the neighbouring hotel La Pirouge as the dive centre was located there and although it did look newer and we liked the look of their infinity pool we didn't feel that tempted by it (unless we found a brilliant deal that is).

Lastly do take sea shoes (or flippers if you prefer) as the water all along this beach has sea urchins..... forewarned is forearmed.

Enjoy

I also wanted to thank fellow guests who E-mailed photos on our return Josh loved them and the Brits who traveled with the same company your gifts, support and warm wishes made our wedding trip all the more special.

The hotel really respects the Hilton's standards - The service is really really good (except for the breakfast buffet where there is definitely a lack of staff) - From reception to room service, everyone is with a smile - the hotel has a really beautiful set up - more of a mauritian classic resort : long and beautiful beach, waterfalls, pounds with fishes, straw roofs,.. everything in the beige and wooden tones..

Buffet food at night was a little limited.
Conference rooms are really nice. However one thing is really missing : WIFI ! please it is time in 2012 to provide FREE internet to the hotel !

Rooms are spacious and nice, book a ground floor room to have access to the beautiful gardens directly. However the toilet in the bathroom was not separated (which is not standard for a 5*) & the bathtub was really old fashion. The staff told me that they will be renovating the rooms next year..
