“Gorgeous, Comfortable and Relaxing”
Reviewed December 21, 2009

We enjoyed a lovely week in this small Moroccan themed hotel, which had an ambience that exceeded our expectations. The spacious rooms were clean and very comfortable. We were all inclusive, and in the restaurant and bar, which catered for food intolerancies, simply signed for our food and drink.
There is the opportunity to take the optional tours or hire a taxi around the spectacularly beautiful island of Mauritius. The Hotel's beach front location is idyllic, and we were able to partake in the complimentary water sports including snorkaling, pedalos, and sailing. We would recommend this hotel to our family and friends.

We got married here on 3rd December & it was perfect. The wedding was on the beach & it was wonderful, thanks Ajay you did a great job organising it all for us. The hotel is great, everywhere is spotless, the rooms are clean and spacious, we had one of the suites which overlooked the ocean - Paradise!! We went all inclusive & I'm glad we did as it would have been very expensive especially for drinks, the food was delicious, but too much of it!!! The staff are very friendly and attentive. We would definitely go back, who know's maybe we will return for our 1st anniversary.

We also met some lovely people there, who I'm sure we will keep in touch with. Thanks guys for helping to make our wedding/honeymoon even more special x

the staff of this hotel where brillant they couldnt do enough for you the rooms where cleaned every day as we had a young child with us who didnt liked the food they where more than happy to cook what ever he wanted and they made him feel very special the manager frankie was there to greet us and made sure that we had everything we could wish for as was ahmed.the only down side was the food was very bland and as we stayed for two weeks on half board the food was all same.and for us was not to our liking but they was perpared to cook something diffrent if we asked, the drinks where very expensive so you could not really afford to drink in the bar and also the entairtaintment could be better but overall we had a good holiday and would go again but would go all inclusive because the drinks and food in the hoel where so expensive.

Recently stayed here for 10 nights with my partner booked through Luxury Holidays Direct/Sunset.

The hotel is gorgeous, loved the Moroccan theme right down to every little detail. It is a very small hotel so don't expect it to be busy or lively, but that's what I liked about it. We came for a relaxing time and a suntan and that's exactly what we got! Very clean in all areas. Rooms are lovely and spacious. We had a beachfront room and the view was perfect. Room also had a dvd player which came in handy on a couple of evenings as the bar closes at 11, and you can choose films from a list at reception.

We found the evening meals really good. Liked that it was not a full buffet and still had table service. There was normally a choice of 2-3 main courses and we always found something we liked, the curries were lovely and the meat & fish of good quality. We also had the lobster meal in the a la carte restaurant - would not really recommend, it was not as nice as the normal food and cost around £35 each - was probably the meal we least enjoyed for the whole holiday! Breakfast was good. Lunches in the bar/pool area were also good, but not as nice as the evening meals.

Service also excellent and one of the managers Ajay, also very helpful and makes sure guests are happy.

The beach here is also very good and quite large compared to some of the other hotels we saw on our walks up to Belle Mare. The sand however is very uncomfortable and sharp to walk on. Belle Mare is small village with shops selling expensive fake designer clothes and a few local craft shops, not really worth it unless you need a money exchange or a supermarket, but the walk up the beach is nice.

Overall, a fantastic gem of a hotel and a lovely quiet relaxing holiday!

We recently returned from 12 nights at La Palmeraie and just simply cannot praise it enough. Probably the best thing about it was the staff - we have never had such genuinely attentive, conscientious and friendly service.
The hotel is beautifully located, the rooms are lovely, the food and drinks on the all inclusive package are fantastic.
We used the taxi services which are readily available to go on trips, mainly to places of natural history/conservation interest eg the Black River Gorge and la Pamplemousse botanic garden.
The ambience of the hotel was very relaxing and we seriously benefited from our stay in Mauritius!

This small, friendly and efficient hotel exceeded all our expectations. It was extremely comfortable, the food was plentiful and tasty and the rum cocktails delicious! We were treated like VIPs and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Being on all inclusive, we enjoyed signing the 'zero' bar tabs instead of wearing those awful wrist bands most all inclusive hotels make you wear! We can also recommend the Spa treatments which were good value for money. We booked through Luxury Holidays Direct who were extremely efficient and provided private taxi transfers to and from the airport. We hired a car and driver through Mauri Tours to visit specific areas of the island and again, the service was excellent. The nearest shops are 20 minutes walk along the beach, however our driver took us to better priced shops inland where we bought excellent local rum at £3 per 70cl bottle! A special thanks to all the staff as well as the friends we met during our stay who made our holiday so much fun - you know who you are!

Just returned from 10 days at la Palmeraie and look back on the experience with great fondness.
From our very first impression (down a rugged, unmade track) it was clear this was a special hotel. The architecture is very special - and why not have a Moorish-style building in the Indian Ocean - and the views through the various small buildings which reveal the deep blue lagoon beyond the beach are a delight.
Very, very attentive but unfussy Staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they always checked with us that everything was okay. We were greeted at dinner on the first evening by the General Manager and reassured that we could contact him if anything was amiss.
Meals were of a good standard with some exceptional dishes on offer some evenings. Excellent choice and a great atmosphere in the main restaurant (we didn't try the a la carte restaurant - for no other reason than we ran out of time).
We were all-inclusive and I gather that was a very good deal. They didn't stint with the measures and a large beer (Phoenix, the local brew was perfect) was just that 700ml or about a pint.
Beaches were clean and safe and it's a marvellous aspect of Mauritius that - even in front of the most expensive hotel or beachside home - the beach is public and a great way to walk from place to place.
Our room was very spacious (Seaview superior and worth the supplement) cleaned to a very high spec and our valet decorated the bed every evening (often sculpting something from a towel or from a t-shirt or something we'd left lying out - great fun to come back to each evening.
All in all - we can't fault it.
One tip - we used a local driver - Razzi Nayeck ([--]) for a day-trip. He was a first-class driver and guide and took us places that we'd never have discovered in a hire-car. He took us to the Botanic Gardens and acted as our guide - very knowledgeable and part of his single charge for the day, so it saved us paying a separate guide at the gardens. His price was precisely HALF of that normally charged by Mauritours. When we go back we'll be using him again - this time to explore the southern half of the island and a bit more of the interior.
