We stayed here a while ago - November 2013 as part of our honeymoon trip, the location, right on the beach offers a host of water based activities ranging from pedalo to kayaking which are free and you can go snorkeling or get a sea trip on a glass bottomed boat too, sea fishing is also available but we didn't go on that.
The sea is shallow and calm for about 200 metres so you can go a good distance in safety and relax on the water for as long as you want, the guys at the sports area were very helpful with the pedalo and kayaks and the staff in the hotel were friendly and very willing to assist in organising excursions.
The beach area was clean and well secured with security guards on the front gate and on the beach area from afternoon onwards and always round and about during other times of the day.
At night there was live music which was good entertainment and the bar staff were always ready with light snacks or to bring food and drinks to your table. Lunchtime provided a good selection of food - the shrimp was a fantastic dish and the burgers were good when you just wanted a nice easy meal in the midday sun.
The sunrise from the beach is well worth seeing although you will need to get up very early but definitely worth doing at least once during your stay.
In total we really enjoyed our stay and a number of trips around Mauritius - the seven coloured earth & tortoises, waterfall, and just travelling through the surrounding countryside was well worth doing. A trip on the submarine was the best excursion we did and I would totally recommend that.
We were on an all inclusive package but there didn't seem to be much in the way of restaurants in the locality - we were a good distance from the main city so the only other options were restaurants in nearby hotels so we didn't bother with those and stuck to the resort instead.
The evening meals in the resort were buffet style - which I would rate as ok, we didn't try the a la carte restaurant and we only really tried the on site lunch towards the end of our stay so maybe we missed out by not trying the a la carte given we both thought the lunch food was of good quality.
Overall this is a great resort with great welcoming staff and enough activites to keep travelers busy during their stay.
