I had just got married and after a lot of research on the net to see who would be the best hotel to go for I went with the long beach and what a choice from the start to the finish it was a experience . From when we enterd we were greeted by Isabelle and you could not ask for a more professional host.we got settle in to our room which was very nice we made our way to the Italian restaurant were we meet Kiran and thought out our whole stay made it very pleasent .So if you are Kiran boss reading this mail you have the best catch of the sea so keep hold of him otherwise il open a restaurant and employ lol.The boys on the beach hut were were help full. And not forgetting the tide restaurant Jessen who was from the tide restaurant was also good and friendly. Now I feel that Ian just going on and on let put it in a nut shall it I was very impressed and I am a very fussy person to satisfy so keep up the hard work and I surely will recommend the long beach not for a honeymoon but for a family hoilday

where do i start what a hotel.my husband 15 year old granddaughter and I stayed here on the 27/08/12 for 9 days, the best hotel we have stayed in. the managment / staff are the nicest people you can meet. they go out of there way to make sure all is perfect for you, nothing is to much trouble for them.if you need anything just ask and you will get it, the rooms are beautiful and big.the food is to die for.lots of variety. my granddaughter likes plain food and the cook made her anything she asked for everynight. the cakes are just mouth watering.there is lots of free activities to do wall climbing, archery, table tennis, keep fit, yoga etc. you must go on the free glass boat we really enjoyed it, even the internet is free. we enjoyed the dancers they had on at night.everything about this holiday was perfect. i asked the lads in the sports centre if they were horseriding on the beach.and they got this at a good price for my granddaugher and me.a long beach taxi took us there and back, it was amazing rideing on the soft sand in the sunshine at 9 am, you should try it. we had a couple of walks down the beach to the town centre it takes about 25mins.they are a few shops, we got lots of gifts.you can get a taxi quite cheep, but we loved the walk. i would like to thank the manament and staff for making this the perfect holiday. we enjoyed our stay at your amazing hotel on the beautiful island of mauritius.

This was our first visit to Long Beach and I had high expectations as I had done a lot of research into it. As there were 9 in our party, I wanted to make sure there was something for everyone and I was not disappointed. Long Beach exceeded my expectations and ticked every box! We had 5 adults, three teenage sons and an 11 year old son in our party and there was so much for everyone to do. The staff at the sports centre got to know our sons really well and genuinely seemed to enjoy participating in the activities with them. The poolside staff were very friendly, yet professional and they were incredibly accommodating, nothing was too much for them to do. My sisters and I had a 'back of the house' tour which we found fascinating. Any hotel that is happy to allow their guests to have a proper look behind the scenes must be very confident about the establishment they run. Long Beach had nothing to worry about as the back of the house is a mirror image of the front - everything works like clockwork and the place is pristine! Again, with 9 people in the party we thought there might not be food to suit everyone's taste, how wrong we were. There was so much variety on offer and my sister who is a vegetarian found this to be the case for her too. Infact the quality and presentation of the food was amazing, so much so, that it sometimes felt like we were dining at a michelin star London restaurant!
As for the resort complex itself, I absolutely loved the design. The contemporary yet minimalistic look and the colour scheme worked so well together, giving it a very modern, understated look that had a calming and relaxing feel about it.
As we visited in August, we weren't exactly sure about the weather, but there was sun most days and the temperature was just right. I knew that the East Coast was windy but didnt realise the extent of the wind, however, we got used to it and still managed to sunbathe every day.
We all loved the water sports, especially the snorkelling and the kayaking and the main pool was very inviting, with waterpolo everyday and also aqua classes. The climbing wall and archery were other very popular activities amongst our group.
I cannot say enough about the staff, they always seemed to be one step ahead of us and always knew what we wanted and when we wanted it, but they did it all in a very subtle way.
All in all we had a fabulous 12 night stay at Long Beach and did not want to go home. We hope to return again soon.

By glancing at the reviews I guess I am not saying anything new, but still, this resort is absolutely perfect! I say resort because I think hotel doesn't do it enough credit. It feels like this was designed, built, managed and just outright worked day in day out by people who got the art of providing the ultimate stay down to perfection. I only dread that we will probably never stay in a place as nice as this again... I wish they would roll out this concept across the globe. Very, very well done.

We had 12 nights with our sons (aged 6 and 8) in early August and can't fault a thing. A warm welcome, genuinely friendly staff who catered for our every need, amazing sports/recreation facilities, wonderful large family room, the best holiday food we've ever had and a great pool and beach front area. The snorkelling in the lagoon was superb, and the grounds are great to wander around, although it was a bit breezier than normal whilst we were there. Most importantly, the atmosphere is laid back - although it's a 5 star resort, the formalities are minimal, meaning you feel comfortable whatever you're doing. Some of the earlier reviews don't give the hotel a five rating - however, people we spoke to who were returning explained the quality of the service and food (albeit previously decent) have been improved substantially since the hotel opened. If you're using TripAdvisor to choose your hotel, I'd suggest focussing on the most recent posts.

This was our 3rd visit to Longbeach over a year - we are hooked. We travelled with 3 young children (1,4,5) and without a shadow of a doubt Longbeach is the best 5* resort on the island considering: Value, Service, Food, Family-friendliness. Here is what we like:
1. Fantastic friendly attitude towards kids - yes this is a Mauritian trait, but they truly go beyond the call of duty at Longbeach to make your children happy. As an anecdote it was my daughter's birthday whilst we were there - they transformed the entire kids club into a princess castle, made bespoke outfits for the children and had a birthday party hosted by the Hotel manager. The kids club itself is not as large as some of the other ones on the island (Touessrok, Four Seasons probably bigger) but there are the usual activities and the staff are incredibly accomodating and friendly.
2. Can-do attitude. The willingness to please amongst all the staff is remarkable. I have read some critical reviews of the hotel, but it seems none of these people registered any of their feelings with the management team on site. In every situation where we have had any issue, regardless of how menial, we have found that a mention to one of the managers puts things right immediately - be it food related, or room related - all you have to do is ask.
3. Food - we have noticed a marked improvement in the quality of food over the last year and the new experienced Executive Chef is making a mark. There is plenty of variety on offer - and they really will accomodate any particular requests - all you have to do is ask. The food was often high end London restaurant quality. Wine list not terribly cheap - but comparable to other 5* resort prices.
4. Service - like a good wine the resort is maturing and improving with time - 18 months old now the staff are settling down and it all appears more seamless. Again - any problem whatsoever (albeit we had to struggle to find problems this time) is rectified with a quick word with one of the managers - who are so keen to keep improving the hotel - but cant (yet) read minds.
5. Accomodation - rooms are well appointed and comfortable. 5* yes, probably not ultra deluixe. Beach-front rooms are what they say - unfortunately our visit coincided with some very windy weather and eventually we decided to move to more sheltered rooms - but this was all handled for us with no effort on our part. NB the hotel is on the more exposed East Coast of the Island - we came last August and weather was fine - this visit was rather more windy though Sun was still out most days.
Facilities
6. Simply fantastic huge heated pool - great for kids since there are lots of paddling levels and no deep end. Sports facilities - you name it - including a climbing wall. Teens are very well accomodated too - plenty going on for them. Spa is great.
Conclusion
We have been fortunate to have travelled the world and stayed at some fabulous resorts (Four Seasons, Aman, Ritz Carlton amongst others) including many in Mauritius (St.Geran, Four Seasons, Le Touessrok). If "traditional, silver service, no kids" is your thing then Long Beach isnt for you. However - for everyone else this hotel is simply fabulous, a real home away from home and why we will keep coming back.

Room Tip: July/August is windy so bear in mind for the beach-front rooms

Having stayed at Sugar Beach before, where we were very happy, it was with some apprehension that we chose Long Beach. Apart from the weather - it is more windy than the West coast and there tends to be more rainy patches - the resort is superb. The pool, which is heated, is very well designed with windbreaks that shield virtually all the wind. The food is outstanding and the rooms are spacious, clean and luxurious. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to please. My wife enjoys her coffee and was not happy that the in-room coffee was charged at hotel "rates". So bring along your own sachets if you are a coffee fanatic. Overall we enjoyed the feel and design of the hotel and definitely recommend it.

Despite your apprehension, we would like to express our sincere thanks for making the right decision in choosing Long Beach for this holiday destination which we are really very grateful of. Thank you very much for your sincere feedback about Long Beach and we are pleased to read that in spite of the winter windy weather, you have enjoyed your stay amongst us.

We have well noted your point with regards to the in-room coffee. However, we would like to confirm that all guests partaking into the all inclusive package, the in-room coffee and tea facilities are free.

With renewed thanks for your understanding and we look forward to welcoming you back to Long Beach in the not-too-distant future during the summer season in order to experience another facet of the East Coast.
