We'd initially booked an eight night stay in Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru but after one night - we knew we wanted to extend and we did for 36 nights. We had a wonderful time - nothing was too much trouble for the staff - so very friendly. I would highly recommend.

The Banyan Tree in the Maldives lived up to all everything we had read about it. From the moment we picked up our Speedboat transfer to the resort, to our warm welcome , beautiful ocean view room, and exceptional service, and first class cuisine in a spectacular setting, what more is there to say! Total relaxation, with options for those who want to do more than just chill out.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are worth the extra cost.

I stayed at the Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru in the 2nd half of March. It was a great experience! The island is small but gorgeous, with a wonderful beach, top notch facilities and service!
The staff is very pleasant and everyone really goes above and beyond their duties to make your stay a memorable one. The staff even organized a football game at sunset on the beach, for myself and couple of other guests, which was just amazing!
The food is delicious (we loved all dishes/desserts made with local bananas, and the ice-creams and sorbets).
Some of the external service providers offer services which are quite pricey (such as the photo taking session with a professional photographer), I think more people would use the service if prices were more down to earth.
One thing the hotel could do is up the activity schedule (i.e. a yoga or pilates class on the beach in the morning or at sunset).
Overall, it was a great stay, and I would go back again.
Francesco

Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru was one of the most special resorts in the Maldives I have stayed at.
Very idyllic, intimacy, privacy and comfort. Had a couple of issues first night with a few bugs dropping from the roof thatching, but staff had us sorted and moved to a perfect spot.
Time to just completely unwind, fantastic for couples looking to relax and do nothing!

My wife and I have written the same positive review for Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru for the last six years, and this latest visit was no exception!
We love the island, and the team that administer it ---- nothing is ever a problem for these guys and girls.
You have the added advantage of having their sister island ‘Angsana’ a stones throw away, so it’s like having two islands in one. There’s a water ‘taxi’ service between the two islands which takes a couple of minutes, and anything you purchase on Angsana, like a beer after snorkelling, can be billed to your Banyan Tree account.
I feel like I’m repeating myself as this was our seventh visit, but just to recap:
The villa’s are lovely, and well furnished, and of the same standard for both Ocean View and Beach Front villas.
The Ocean View villas are set back slightly from the Beach Front villas, but don’t let this put you off. The only advantage with the Beach Front villas is they have their own little pergola extending over the edge of the beach, and of course they cost more.
Food wise --- absolutely brilliant! We cannot fault it.
I have to say my favourite is the lunch time buffet with a BBQ chef --- quite superb.
Snorkelling is great, but we prefer Angsana. With favourable currents, you could snorkel all the way round Angsana.
A typical daily routine would be --- a lovely breakfast, a walk round the island, catch the 10.30 water taxi to Angsana, snorkel, have a beer, catch the 12.30 taxi back to Banyan Tree, a quick shower, have lunch, and then chill out for the rest of the day --- or carry on snorkelling at Banyan Tree.
Superb!

Having visited Banyan Tree 2 years ago in February 2012 before the villa refurbishment it was interesting to catch up with these and any other new developments with another review. The "no shoes" ethos is still going strong and the super beaches are without equal. Absolutely beautiful! Our Beachfront pool villa (no 44) is on the south east side of the island which is where we prefer as you get the sunrise and sun for most of the day until about 5pm. Some folk prefer to see the sunset by being on the other side of the island, but we prefer the onshore breezes which keep you cool during the day. The revamped plunge pool and jacuzzi at the rear of the villa are lovely, coupled with a new sun shade seat. The villa internals are basically the same but the bed is 100 times more comfortable. As has been said before the TV is situated in an awkward viewing position, but hey! we weren't here to watch TV. Meals are predominantly Asian kitchen as you would expect, but there is plenty to eat for European tastes. It is well cooked and presented and very enjoyable. However, if on full board the lunches are perhaps a little predictable without much variation. There are two self service barbecue evenings a week which is one too much. The waiter service as a our previous visit was a bit inconsistent and second requests for things occasionally were required but really it's no big deal. Bear in mind you will need a substantial budget for alcoholic drinks although water is provided free. The mix of residents was basically the same the majority being Chinese, with French, Italian and a good amount of British who embrace the quite relaxing ethos, and now more than ever Russians but more of that later. All snorkelling equipment is hired for free which is convenient and the reefs are a must to visit independently or on an organised trip. There is plenty of non-motorised water sports and a gym if you feel energetic. We had the misfortune to have a very high maintenance young Russian couple move into the next door villa (45) 4 days before we left who really would have more at home in Benidorm. One night they played loud music in their villa until past midnight. The lady, and I use the term advisedly, flouted the Muslim nature of the Maldives by swimming and sunbathing topless and wearing an indecent bathing string. I have no objection to this in the appropriate resort, but felt this was an insult and an embarrassment to the local staff. Not withstanding this we had a lovely time and the Maldives and Vabbinfaru, when in your blood is highly addictive!

Room Tip: Rooms on South East side benefit from a cool breeze to help you keep comfortable sunbathing.

Thank you for sparing time to post your review of our island on TripAdvisor.

Your review is descriptive and will encourage other guests to visit us and we thank you for actively recommending us.

I am pleased that the services and facilities at the resort were to your satisfaction. I have noted your comments on the predictability and frequency of buffets and the inconsistency in the wait staff. I assure you that we will address these with our teams. Feedback from guests is important and helps us in our endeavor of continuous improvement.

I regret that you were inconvenienced by guests in your neighboring villa but I am pleased that I did not mar memories of your stay. I appreciate your concern for the sensitivity of our associates and their beliefs.

My team and I thank you for indulgence in your "addiction" and look forward to welcoming you back to your home in the Maldives- the sunny side of life!!
