“Perfect holiday that overcame our expectations!”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

Absolutely great! I feel lack of words to describe the full depth of my excitement! I stayed 12 days with my family at Dusit Thani and we enjoyed every moment spent there. This resort successfully combines ALL factors necessary for retreat. Magnificent nature, luxurious facilities, attentive and friendly service, delicious food, exclusive comfort and beauty make this resort the best place to relax and get pleasure! Specially I appreciated opportunity to forget about shoes for all 12 days! Absolutely shoes-free resort with sand floor in bars and restaurant.
My advice to everyone who is going to Dusit Thani don't miss sunset and Tom Yum soup at Thai restaurant over the ocean and grilled reef fish at Sea Grill Restaurant. I give the highest mark to the resort and thank all the staff who made our holiday unforgettable!

I am rather late in posting my review as we stayed in March. I have never written a review on a hotel before, maybe because I am a Travel Agent and have mixed feelings on TripAdvisor....but, I think Dusit Thani should receive the recognition deserved for everything fabulous they do.

I was slightly apprehensive before we arrived, due to some poor reviews but clearly we had nothing to worry about. From the moment we stepped onto the arrival jetty and were greeted by Shaz our Butler and Shaz Director of rooms, to the moment we left 9 days later, everything was just perfect.

We have previously stayed at Constance Halaveli and FS Landaa which we loved but Dusit Thani did have the edge on a few areas. The house reef for one was the best we have ever snorkled on and even swam with the resident turtles on a few occasions which was amazing and you would normally have to take a boat trip from most islands to do this.
Our beautiful beach villa with pool really does have the wow factor, especially the bathroom. Shaz kindly took the time out to select us the best pool villa, she actually went and personally looked at the view from each one of the villas just because we had requested a pool that faced the front rather than the pools in the bathrooms and a lovely view. She certainly did not let us down, it was just perfect with a large garden area and larger pool than the ones out the back. The beach on this side of the island is much more rocky than the arrival jetty side but it is great for snorkling off the jetty at the dive centre, albeit very tricky getting in the water, especially if you are rubbish with flippers like me!
The restaurant's were all very good serving delicious food consistantly and being able to use all 3 on the half board option was brilliant because its pretty much unheard of in the Maldives, most islands only allow the HB package to be used in the buffet restaurant and then a supplement for the other A La Carte's. This is a huge plus for Dusit and something I would always point out when selling Dusit Thani to future guests myself. Seabreeze was our favourite and we had the most fantastic dinner there on our last night. It was made even more special by the fabulous service provided that evening by Naseem, he is a real credit to DT. So too was Sayeed at Sand Bar, who always looked after us and knew exactly what we wanted to drink when we walked up along the beach in the afternoon, he always greeted us with such a friendly genuine smile. I just want to point out that the drinks here at DT are cheaper than at other 5 star deluxe islands. Desmond the GM made a point of making alcohol better value here.
At breakfast, we were looked after by Murray extremely well, again, he knew how I liked my tea by day 2 and also when to bring my partners espresso. Isaag was also very kind. Rifaa, what can I say....it was a pleasure meeting you and we shall look forward to drinks with you again when we return, thank you for everything and also to Shazleen for helping make our stay such an amazing 9 nights!
Anyone considering Dusit Thani, ignore any poor reviews, just go, you will not regret it and you will leave on that seaplane with some amazing everlasting memories.

We were fortunate to spend just two nights at Dusit Thani - we were contacted by Angelfish Travel (highly recommended for anything in the Maldives) to ask if we would be interested in an upgrade to Dusit Thani as the Coco Palm was full for the last two days of our week away. It was good to experience another island in such a short space of time. Transfer from the Coco Palm was by speedboat - very swift and very well organised. Upon arrival we were met by our butler and taken by golf buggy to our Ocean Villa (with pool) ...WOW ...this was luxury on a level we had never experienced before ... true paradise. Breakfast was served in the Market Restuarant - the staff were very very attentive... as I have difficulty walking these days the Restuarant Manager offered to bring me back a selection of fruit, pastries and toast - this was a mountain of food which meant that we didnt have to venture out to lunch (as the plentiful remains were cling filmed up for us to eat on our terrace thus enjoying the lovely sunshine even more!). I should also mention Murray - a top top man with a wonderful sense of humour - who kept us topped up with Coffee and OJ ...and was very attentive.
We ate one night at Benjarong (Thai) and one night at the Sea Grill - followed by drinks at the Sala Bar and the Sand Bar respectively. The food was incredible - I love Thai food but this was in a different league. The Sala bar has lovely big comfy lie down sofa's for all the star gazing you could ever wish for. My only regret ? Having to leave this lovely place after such a short time. The food, scenery, accomodation and the level of service .... incredible...

Room Tip: You wont be disappointed with an Ocean Villa - they have their own splash pool on terrace to watch t...

It is good, but not excellent compared to Four seasons landaa giraavaru.
Staff were not that warm and considerate.
Lack of mirror for makeup and dressing in the room with suitable light.
Rooms on sands were not spacious enough.
Some people were not friendly enough to chinese visitors.

Dear Khun luxin L,

Thank you very much for taking the time to review our property. We are disappointed to learn that we did not meet your expectations in some areas. I have noted your feedback and have shared it with our team for corrective action and further training for team members.

We were relocated to the Dusit Thani Maldives due to our original resort not being open on time. When we were advised of our destination we had no knowledge of the resort so were a little concerned as to where we were going. This concern ended as soon as we disembarked from the speedboat onto the arrival jetty and were met by Shaaz, the welcome was warm and friendly and the check in process excellent.

Our villa was perfect, spacious and clean and very well appointed and the bath and shower area had a real WOW factor, I cannot think of anywhere else you could go to that while you are taking an open air shower there are fruit bats flying overhead. We thought that things could not get any better but we were wrong.

The resort itself is pristine with staff going round each day raking up fallen leaves from the beaches, the villas, and also along the pathways around the island. The staff were incredibly friendly, courteous and helpful and we made many friends there.
We ate our breakfast and dinner in the Market Restaurant where each night was themed with cuisines from different parts of the world and there was always something different to eat. My wife does not like spicy food so the chef cooked her a special meal on several occasions while I helped myself to the buffet. On Wednesday nights there was a barbecue in the restaurant as well as the buffet but on Sundays everything was moved outside for a great beach barbecue with local entertainment, a great night. As mentioned the nights were themed but for Easter they excelled. On Easter Sunday there was the beach barbecue but inside all the desserts had been made on an egg theme, there were egg cakes, jellies, puddings and lots more. The main central feature was a caramelised sugar display that was awesome and all were made by their own pastry chef. This is one talented guy.

Lunch in the Beach Grill is al-a carte with a good choice of quality food.

Cocktail night with the GM was great and all the management staff were there talking to all who attended, this did not end there as they were regularly visible around the resort and always made time to have a chat.

The snorkelling around the house reef was amazing with many different types of fish and turtles to see. There is a dive centre where snorkelling gear is available free of charge, they offer many excursions and there is even a resident Marine Biologist (Hi Lauren).

Would we go back to this island, you bet we would. Many thanks to everyone who helped to make our holiday perfect.

Room Tip: Beach Villa 317 has good snorkelling direct from the beach

We were due to stay at the Centarra Ras Fushi 13th to 24th march but luckily for us the hotel did not open on time and we were offered this hotel on all inclusive and an upgrade of villa to water villa with infinity pool and our very own butler (Aysha ). This hotel is 5* luxury with friendly attentive staff where nothing is too much trouble. The food at all the restaurants especially the market is excellent with much variety and different themed evenings, James the executive chef should be proud of the staff who work there under his guidance ,what else can we say but truly superb.! Also thankyou James for showing us around the desalination plant and the staff area we know how busy you are. The whole island is beautiful and cycling through the palm tree paths was a great way to get around and see all the island has to offer.
We could say a whole lot more but other reveiws have said what we have experienced and how fantastic it is, our only gripe is that we did not stay longer than our 10 days but now it will only inspire us to return as soon as possible. We made many friends during our stay too many too mention but our greatest thanks go to Andrass the manager for choosing us to stay on this island and making it truly special..

Room Tip: We had villa 607 with pool. The sound of the waves gently lapping underneath our villa was so relaxi...

Stay from March 17th to March 24th.
Excellent service, very attentive, professional, friendly, exceptionally well trained.
Benjaron Thai restaurant, Sea Grill are offer great variety of dishes, excellent quality, extremely attentive staff and nice atmosphere.
The Beach Villas offer sufficient privacy (once the garden has grown a bit), however, the villas are rather close to each other. The large outdoor bathroom is a nice touch. The room was very clean, the hotel provides complimentary water (house water is of very good quality!), mosquito-sprays, tooth brush, Nespresso coffee and tea, bikes (only a few of the old bikes mentioned below are left) and all regular 5* amenities on top of that.
The house reef is beautiful and large (the north side is nicer than the south side). While we were there, there was a strong current that carried us nicely along the reef. However, one has to be a good swinner in order to move against the current. Excellent water sports center (I think it is outsourced), pretty large, with knowledgeable staff and good quality products.
Great pool area with wonderful view during sunset, very comfortable sun chairs and lounge chairs. The hotel is missing a public beach area.

Overall and excellent choice in the Baa Atoll. The staff friendlyness, knowledge and general attitude is exceptional. The facilities are modern, well groomed, and in good shape. The quality of food and the variety is excellent, which assures culinary suprises also for guests staying longer than a week.

Room Tip: The beach villas between the Sea Grill and Reception Area offer a wider beach area than the other vi...
