We were due to stay at the Centarra Ras Fushi 13th to 24th march but luckily for us the hotel did not open on time and we were offered this hotel on all inclusive and an upgrade of villa to water villa with infinity pool and our very own butler (Aysha ). This hotel is 5* luxury with friendly attentive staff where nothing is too much trouble. The food at all the restaurants especially the market is excellent with much variety and different themed evenings, James the executive chef should be proud of the staff who work there under his guidance ,what else can we say but truly superb.! Also thankyou James for showing us around the desalination plant and the staff area we know how busy you are. The whole island is beautiful and cycling through the palm tree paths was a great way to get around and see all the island has to offer.
We could say a whole lot more but other reveiws have said what we have experienced and how fantastic it is, our only gripe is that we did not stay longer than our 10 days but now it will only inspire us to return as soon as possible. We made many friends during our stay too many too mention but our greatest thanks go to Andrass the manager for choosing us to stay on this island and making it truly special..

Room Tip: We had villa 607 with pool. The sound of the waves gently lapping underneath our villa was so relaxi...

Stay from March 17th to March 24th.
Excellent service, very attentive, professional, friendly, exceptionally well trained.
Benjaron Thai restaurant, Sea Grill are offer great variety of dishes, excellent quality, extremely attentive staff and nice atmosphere.
The Beach Villas offer sufficient privacy (once the garden has grown a bit), however, the villas are rather close to each other. The large outdoor bathroom is a nice touch. The room was very clean, the hotel provides complimentary water (house water is of very good quality!), mosquito-sprays, tooth brush, Nespresso coffee and tea, bikes (only a few of the old bikes mentioned below are left) and all regular 5* amenities on top of that.
The house reef is beautiful and large (the north side is nicer than the south side). While we were there, there was a strong current that carried us nicely along the reef. However, one has to be a good swinner in order to move against the current. Excellent water sports center (I think it is outsourced), pretty large, with knowledgeable staff and good quality products.
Great pool area with wonderful view during sunset, very comfortable sun chairs and lounge chairs. The hotel is missing a public beach area.

Overall and excellent choice in the Baa Atoll. The staff friendlyness, knowledge and general attitude is exceptional. The facilities are modern, well groomed, and in good shape. The quality of food and the variety is excellent, which assures culinary suprises also for guests staying longer than a week.

Room Tip: The beach villas between the Sea Grill and Reception Area offer a wider beach area than the other vi...

A five star dream

We have just returned from an amazing 11 nights stay at the Dusit Thani resort in the Baa atoll. We travelled with our young children (age 4 and 7) and this was our sixth time in the Maldives, the third as a family. Usually we do a lot of research before choosing a resort, since there are so many to choose from and all of them offer a unique experience. In the past and in this occasion we have chosen based on: beauty and accessibility of the reef, size of the island, accommodation, service and food, all of which are very important key factors.
Well, Dusit Thani has not disappointed us from the very start. After a long flight you are accommodated in a nice lounge while waiting for the seaplane transfer. The island looked perfect from above: a reef which surrounds it completely, turquoise crystal waters, sandy beaches and lush vegetation. On arrival you are greeted warmly by Maldivian and Thai staff and you get the chance to meet your butler. Our butler was lovely Serm who explained all the check in procedures and showed us to our room. We stayed in a beach villa n309 (no pool) for the whole length of the stay.
The beach villas (pool or no pool) are all the same size (122sq) very spacious and well furnished. It’s the biggest room we have ever stayed in a Maldivian resort and because of its size they are able to accommodate the two children in the same room in a good size pull out sofa bed. Half of the room it’s occupied by the fantastic outdoor bathroom with his and hers sinks, an indoor shower, a beautiful free standing bath and at the end of a little pathway a great outdoor shower too. It wouldn’t be the Maldives if you were not able to shower looking at palm trees under the sky!! Plus points in the room are: a Bose sound system, possibility to listen to music through your Apple devices, a Nespresso machine with different flavours capsules, bathrobes, slippers, a lovely straw beach bag to use during your stay, Molton Brown toiletries and a nice wine cooler. There are only 100 rooms on a good size island therefore the ratio rooms to island is very good so even with 100% occupancy you always feel like the only guest in the resort. Throughout the island you can use complimentary Wi-FI and bikes especially designed for the sand. Serm made sure that the adult and the children bikes were outside our villa the day after our arrival.

The island is very green, plenty of palm trees and lush vegetation, which is great, making it so pleasant when you walk or ride your bike because it really makes you feel you are in an untouched paradise.
The reef surrounds the whole of the island and it’s accessible from most points. We found that the best way to see the reef is to jump or swim from the Dive centre jetty towards the Benjarong restaurant or to go from the arrival jetty towards the water bungalow n 200. The fish life is abundant with plenty of fish plus the amazing resident turtles. Our two children totally enjoyed snorkelling but what pushed them even more to do it is the fact that the resort has the lovely and charming Lauren as the in house marine biologist. Lauren would organize anything for you and your family and everything is tailor made to suits your needs. I would really recommend the “Turtle Quest” or the “Finding Nemo” snorkelling excursions. During one of our trips we were so lucky that we were able to snorkel with two magnificent mantas as well as turtles, experience that all of us will never forget. Thank you Lauren for your kind and gentle manners and the enthusiasm you put in your job.
The dive centre has very friendly staff and very good equipment (you can rent complimentary snorkelling equipment and life jackets). My husband did four dives and was very happy with everything, a big thank you to all the staff there, (Zeus, Xavier, Liwaz, etc.) for their professionalism and fun attitude.

But certainly what makes this resort to stand out from all the others, apart from the natural assets are the staff and the high standard of service they deliver. Everyone from the restaurant staff (Shiraz, Murray, Ali, Nasym, Jamaal, to mention just a few) to the bar, from the buggy drivers, to the butlers (Serm, Hanan) from the Thai beauticians at the Spa to the security guards, from the housekeeping (Hameed), to the chefs (James), from the doctor (Julie) to the managers (Michael, Desmond, etc..) everyone is absolutely fantastic. Everything is delivered with a genuine smile; nothing is too much trouble, even when it came to satisfy our two little fussy eaters’ requests. Everybody in the hotel went above and beyond their call of duty always exceeding our expectations.

Also another positive key point is the amazing food. During our stay we have tried all three restaurants and never been disappointed but certainly our favourites were the Sea Grill and the Thai. The freshness, the quality (and quantity), the presentation and the little touches at both restaurant are exceptional. The breakfast it’s something I still dream about, from the freshly cut and prepared fruit buffet (you name it they had it) to the pancakes and waffle station (my two wanted pancakes in shape of Mickey on a daily basis), from the honey and home-made jams to the pastries and oriental specialities…. Thanks to the staff at the Benjarong I also had a beautiful and tasty chocolate cake on my birthday accompanied by great singing.
Also we recommend to try the cocktails served at the two bars, Sand bar and Sala bar ( happy hour 6-8 pm) the second one being the bar most guests don’t even know exists, the best kept secret of the island!!
The Thai Spa is also very good; the treatment rooms are like suspended amongst the palm trees thanks to a wooden walkway and bridge. They even have a massage oil menu to choose from and the treatments are absolute bliss.
Book the treatments in advance to avoid disappointment, or ask your butler to book as soon as you arrive.
The kids club it’s not very big (apparently getting bigger by next year) but the girl in charge is so lovely that she is happy to do various activities indoor or take them even on the beach for a bit of afternoon fun.

I would only make a couple of suggestions: to provide better hammocks not only on the pathways but in the villas too, to replace some of the wooden decking’s in the Sea Grill and Sun Bar (some of us had splinters since we like walking bare feet) and a better way to tag one’s bike so that they don’t get pinched by other guests.

All in all we had a fantastic and unforgettable holiday (quite upset when we left) thanks to a great mixture of professional and friendly staff, excellent food, a very rich house reef and a beautiful island set in a Unesco World Biosphere reserve. It doesn't get better than this and yes if you ask we would definitely go back in a nanosecond!!

Room Tip: Beach villas n 100's have the best beach on the island, followed by the room with 300's n wh...

I have shared it with the entire team and duly recognised the individual team members you mentioned for their efforts in providing excellent service. I’d like to thank you for highlighting your suggestions and I am personally taking measures to address them, in particular the bicycle issuing procedure and the improvement of wooded decks which we have made a priority.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in August 2013 in a beach villa for 11 nights and a water villa for the last 3 nights. We are a family of 4 with 2 adults and 2 children aged 11 and 9. Unfortunately it has taken me until now to write a review. The food at the hotel was fantastic. At the time of our stay the hotel hadn't been open for very many months and due to the fact we were staying in August it felt very quiet. As a result the hotel didn't have the buffet restaurant open in the evenings and we did find the fact that we only had 2 restaurants to pick between for 2 weeks a little limiting. Saying that the food was extremely good and the best that we had experienced of all the hotels we had stayed at in the Maldives and Mauritius. Breakfast was very good too. What I liked was the most amazing variety of fruit which you could pick and give to a chef who would then chop it up and arrange it on your plate.

The staff were very helpful, friendly and chatty. Sometimes I found them a little too chatty in the restaurants when all I wanted was to talk to my family.

The beach villa's were lovely. The kids slept on a sofa bed and the room didn't feel too cramped. Be aware that there are lots of Mosquitos around the beach villas and the bathrooms are outdoors. You really do need to have an effective mosquito repellent on from 5 o'clock onwards. When we moved to the water villa we didn't get bitten at all but in the early days when we weren't so vigilant in applying the mosquito repellent and because we were in a beach villa we all got bitten quite a lot. In comparing beach villas and water villas I would say that the beach villa's have the advantage that you can snorkel straight off your room (the tide was generally too low around the water villas to snorkel off them) whilst the water villas were better if you want to sit out at night. I didn't like the seating areas in front of the beach villas are as they are surrounded by trees and I always felt like I was being bitten. Also, when we arrived we were allocated a beach villa that had no beach in front of it due beach erosion. The staff were very accommodating though when we requested to move.

The plunge pool was gorgeous in the water villa and a added treat. The bathrooms are also in doors which I preferred in the evening when the Mosquitos were out.

I think this hotel is generally better geared up for couples than families. Even though there is a kids club there were no children there when we were. Our kids were fine with that and most of the time had the pool all to themselves but I think kids generally like to find other kids to play with.

With regards to the reef, it was excellent. We did try some of the trips on offer but to be honest you don't need to go anywhere.

My son and I did some water skiing and diving. The dive centre and staff were excellent.

I would recommend this hotel to others and maybe we will go back one day when we have visited some other places first.

Sawasdee Khun Familyof4England,

Kob Khun Krub, thank you for your thorough feedback on your stay during our soft opening phase. I am delighted that you enjoyed our new resort, particularly the cuisine and our house coral reef. We officially opened in September last year and I am pleased to report that all restaurants are now fully operational with exciting new menus, providing guests with more dining options.

Being on a tropical island, we are also aware of the mosquito population which exists due to the denseness of our natural vegetation, and this matter has already been addressed by an improved pest management plan. We have noted your other comments and rest assured that we are providing our team members with continuous training as well as setting up various enhancements in our recreational facilities such as the Baan Sanook kids club.

We hope to welcome you and your family again soon.

Yours sincerely,

Desmond Hatton

We had a discussion the other evening with friends about the best hotel we had ever stayed at. I couldn't give an answer but now I have a clear winner. Dusit Thani was exceptional. Great service, food, accommodation, spa. Everything was carefully thought through and executed. Our only two gripes were that there was virtually no atmosphere in the evening because so much of the clientele were Chinese who did not appear to do anything in the evenings and the second is that the spa was so busy it was almost impossible to book one or even two days before which is not always easy when leaving time for diving etc.

House reef was amazing. We saw a turtle as well as a multitude of different species of fish. I love the way that they give each guest a bike so that you can ride around the island. A fab touch

Full credit to Dusit. They did a great job building this place

Room Tip: Go for the water villa if you can afford it. By far the best way to stay

Brought my family to this hotel for holidays. Everything is good except the butler. None of our requests have been satisfied, not even a notice in advance. Ex. we booked the tennis court in the morning. And there was nothing when we showed up right on time, no person, no rackets, even the door was locked. Just one day before we asked him to bring someone to fix the toilet blockage and nobody showed up either. Well, I would go back to there if it is not for this terrible so-called butler service.

Having stayed in diverse maldivian an resorts, we would say that dusit thuni was the most enjoyable on many if not all aspect.
First, we want to thanks the staff, and our butler (Nahed) for their kindness, efficacity, sympathy, and discretion. Room service, bar and restaurant staff were excellent. The room, océan villa... The top!
Island has an impressive vegetation Well preserved.
Importantly, the three restaurant are excellent in terms of product quality, choice and cooking. We are now dreaming of the breakfast fruit buffet...
House reef is Well preserved, plenty of Fish, corals, turttles, rays even dolphins...
To be honest this is the first maldivian were we want to come back...
