We have just returned from a 2 week stay at this beatiful tiny island. It was our third time in the Maldives and our favourite island so far. We had a BV (no 110) and it was in a perfect position of us, away from the bar and the pool which was on the busier side of the island. The rooms were spacious, modern and had a huge bed. We had two showers, one outside and one inside but no bath which I did miss but it wasn't a huge problem.

The staff are ALL fabulous and looked after us so well - we couldn't have wished for friendlier or more helpful people.

We went on the Whale Shark excursion and were lucky enough to snorkel with these beautiful creatures. Neeve, our Marine Biologist who led the trip was amazing. The memory will last for ever - we love you Neeve!

The island is tiny and you can walk around it in 10 minutes but it is perfectly formed. The island is surrounded by a fantastic reef with some of the best coral we have ever seen and plenty of sea life from black tip and lemon sharks to sting rays and parrot fish to mention a few. The reef was just teeming with colour.

I only have one negative and that is the food - it was often overcooked and lacked variety. It would be great if the island had another restaurant to choose from. Fix this problem Maff and you will be cooking on gas!

An incredible time spent on this Island in Nov/Dec this year.A real kick off our shoes and relax experiance.Water bungalows were incredible and are worth spending a little bit extra on.
To have crystal clear water and fish/rays swimming by your feet is a true wonder.A small intimate island, where you can have breakfast/dinner etc all with no shoes on in the sand.
A relaxed yet proffessional atmosphere, with kind courteous ,polite staff members.
Our kuoni rep julie was oustanding ,as was the Manager of the resort Manu.A beautiful island with soft white sand and clear blue water"does exactly what it says on the tin"Stayed in water bungalow 218 (sunset side ,right at the end)Incredible sunsets.!!

Room Tip: If you can go the xtra....get a water bungalow.(sun set side)

It was our first time in the Maldives and as it was our honeymoon we took our time researching hotels and decided Maafushivaru had everything we wanted and the reviews were excellent. Well we can see why, it is just like the photos and more! We went for the last week of September and the first week of October and stayed in a beach villa. The beach villa was huge and we just loved the outside shower! We did have a look around a water villa whilst there and they are lovely too but slightly smaller inside so as we were there for 2 weeks we were pleased with the choice we made. The weather was perfect only two small showers at night in the whole time we where there. We loved the no news no shoes concept and when we arrived off the seaplane we took off our shoes and only put them back on to go home (it felt weird wearing them again). The Island is small which definately gives it an intamite feel and the staff certainly made or honeymoon perfect! Mark the Kuoni rep and Manu the duty manager were superb they couldn't do enough for us! You get allocated a waiter ours was called Rilwan and he was brilliant, couldn't fault a thing with the service or the food both were out of this world! Every evenings food had a different theme e.g. French, Maldivian, American, Italian. Plenty of choice and at every meal they also had a chef cooking for you in the mornings it was eggs however you wanted them (we normally had an omellete) and at lunch and dinner pasta with what you wanted and fish or beef. Our room attendant was called Ibrahim and he looked after us for our whole stay topping up our mini bar (included on the all-inclusive option) and he did an amazing display on our bed one day as we were there for our honeymoon. Bar staff were brilliant too nothing being too much trouble with the best choice of all inclusive cocktails we have ever seen at a hotel. Aminal and his team helped us work our way through them but we didn't manage them all. The house red, white and rose wine also on the all inclusive were really good too. The Friday night was a traditional Maldivan night and the Maldivian staff did dancing, drumming and singing in the bar it really is a must see and it was great because they got all us guests to join in. Snorkelling was great, one day a family of eagle rays came in and it was just amazing to see. We had a very memorable two weeks and we hope that we will return to the Maldives but it will have to be to Maafushivaru because if we went elsewhere we might be dissapointed as this place would be hard to beat!

For anyone wanting a relaxing holiday on a tiny Maldivian island then Maaf definitely requires consideration. The island, the staff, the rooms and the trips on offer are all fantastic and have been described time and again in earlier reviews so I can’t really add any more that hasn’t already been said.

Rooms - In our opinion WV's are not worth the extra money. If you're staying in a BV don’t get too hung up about which one you’re going to be in. There aren’t any in a bad position. Any minor gripes can also change from one day to the next. For example, if the breeze chooses not to blow against your side of the island that particular day, the heat and intensity of the sun can be unbearable if you plan to sunbathe outside your room for any period of time. The island has so few people on it you will always be able to wander off and find a nice quiet corner for yourself if you feel the need to move.

Shoes - don't bring them. You don't need any whilst you're on the island.

All Inclusive - an absolute must. You will spend a fortune if you don’t as nothing comes cheap here. Everything you do pay for also has a 10% service charge and 3.5% tax applied, including items purchased from the boutique.
Note the All Inc does not cover any watersports equipment. You will need to pay for kayaks, etc. Expect to pay around £25(inc tax) for a pedalo for 1 hour.

The house reef and the reef around Lonubo are fantastic with a plethora of marine life present. Stingrays, eagle rays, sharks, the odd turtle and thousands of other fish. If you like to snorkel don't forget to bring your waterproof camera.

The only disappointment in our opinion was the quality of the food hence this 4 star review. It just wasn’t good enough for a resort of this standard. Yes there is variety in the buffet and differing theme nights but comparing the food with other restaurants at home and abroad the quality is distinctly average.
If the hotel can address the food quality this island will be an absolutely wonderful place to take a holiday/honeymoon. We would certainly recommend going to Maaf. Just don't expect any gastronomic delights and you'll love it.

Room Tip: Our preference would be beach villas 108 to 113.

There are plenty of reviews on here that a comprehensive in their content - so my review of Maaf is to be simple and brief. It is an outstanding place with staff to match and was indeed a holiday of a lifetime in paradise.

Some stuff that may not have been mentioned before...
- 130 staff look after a maximum of 100 guests, no wonder you feel yourself unwind the moment you set foot on the sandy beaches.
- All guests that we met / holidayed with were all similar people, all can afford to come here so the likelihood of scally's or chav's ruining your holiday is minimal - i'm not being a snob with that statement but I have had holidays in the past ruined by rowdy (usually British) holidaymakers and it was so pleasant that the environment and mood of the island matched the type of people there!
- the photographs cannot do this place justice, the ambiance, smell and aura cannot fully be appreciated by photographs alone. No car noise, sirens, loud music, local touts on the beaches....you must be there to appreciate first hand the excellence of this island in particular and the bigger picture of the Maldives themselves. Seeing the region from the sea plane window is amazing.

We found the whole experience amazing, the only aspect that I couldn't mark as a full 5 out of 5 is the food, not because we didn't enjoy it every mealtime because we did, it's because we have eaten better food elsewhere in the past. The food here for me is a very good 4.5 out of 5, but because of one past experience of having outstanding food I cannot give it 5 on this occasion however, don't forget where we are, a tiny island in the middle of the Indian ocean that imports every foodstuff consumed, bearing this in mind I think they do a wonderful job!

I travel well, but have never been anywhere like this before, I am now hooked on this part of the world and cannot wait to come back - it really is a paradise island!

Room Tip: we stayed in 120 - a beach villa. this and 121 shared a small section of beach with unobstructed views of the ocean. I think water bungalow 222 would be the best as it is at the tip if the jetty on it's own.
