“Home from home - Meadowood Inn”
Reviewed January 10, 2009

Our families first experience of skiing was only enhanced by our wonderful stay at The Meadowood Inn. Tanya was extremely helpful and very attentive to our needs. We felt completely at home from the moment we arrived. Everything the previous reviewer said I would concur with. The rooms are clean, cozy and have great character without feeling you need to be too careful.

The breakfasts were AMAZING - different every day we were there and really great food! everything from pancakes, muesli, fresh pineapple, variety of juices, french toast, sausages, bacon, eggs, parfait.... the list went on and on, catering for everyone. We stayed in an adjoining room with our 2 children and an ensuite with non-stop hot water.

I would really recommend The Meadowood Inn to anyone visiting the area for a homely, friendly place to stay. The website describes it all www.meadowoodinn.com. Thank you Tanya!

We found this B&B through Belleayre's web-site. The hostess-owner Tanya Minteer was cheerful, helpful, and genuinely interested in making our family's 3-night Holiday midweek ski stay enjoyable. The B&B is in an old Victorian in the small village of Arkville, a block off Route 28 (far enough off that we noticed no road noise), less than 10 minutes to Belleayre. Because of our late booking, we stayed in two different family suites -- each with two bedrooms -- great for traveling with teenagers. They had their own room and we had ours. One suite had two bathrooms; the other had one. Some of the furniture is antique (but not so precious that you can't relax), but the bathrooms are modern, clean, and in good working order. Plenty of hot water. The beds are made up with luxury linens, pillows and mattresses are comfy. The first floor suite is even pet-friendly, but is so well cleaned that it shows no signs of it. Nice touches: hot cocoa, tea or coffee available anytime in dining room, which also has a microwave or small refrigerator for guests' use; sitting room has a chess board on a game table, which got us all playing chess; TVs are in rooms, so main floor sitting room is generally quiet. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. One offering -- creme brulee oatmeal -- will make it hard to go back to Quaker instant. Lastly, the Inn offered special skiing promotions the best of which was a Buy One Get One lift ticket -- you ski two days for the price of one -- even on a holiday week.

  • Liked — Suites gave us room to spread out, but be together. Price was very reasonable.
  • Disliked — Nothing really. It's pretty much everything you'd want in a B&B for skiing stay.
