“Friendly staff”
Reviewed July 21, 2012

I spent 4 nights at Quality Hotel, Shah Alam. Upon arrival I was upgraded to an executive suite for no extra charge. The room itself was good, though the sink stopper was missing in the bathroom and was not fixed even after a request at the reception. Everything else in the room was in working order, though I had problems plugging my laptop- there weren't enough plug points in the room and I had to buy a travel adapter from the mall across the street. I must add that the bed was very comfortable, though most of the furniture was old and as other reviewers have pointed out, needs replacing. Some of the bathroom accessories were not to be seen for the first two days.

Food at the restaurant was generally okay. The complimentary breakfast buffet lacked variety with limited continental options and I ended with the same thing on my plate for four days. There are a lot of food options right outside the hotel, serving Japanese, Thai, Malay and Indian food.

Upon arrival I was terribly disappointed that there was no wifi in my room. I had picked the hotel mostly for the free wifi as I needed it for my work. I had to come downstairs to the lobby to get internet access. However, upon request, I was provided with a LAN modem in the room, and was asked to pay 300 RM as refundable deposit to use the same.

Nonetheless, I rate this hotel 3.75 out of 5 mostly for its staff, who were very helpful. Two of the staff were particularly helpful. One young man named Fandy came up to my room and spent more than an hour trying to fix the internet, though unsuccessfully. A young woman named Via too was very helpful and friendly. All the other staff were also very friendly.

Overall, a satisfying experience though I do hope that a few renovations are made soon, and internet is made available throughout the hotel.

I stayed for a week in this hotel for a business trip. However the stay was average. The rooms are pretty old style and desperately need renovation. The bedding, towels, linen needs a make-over. Furniture is scratched. TV is old style (yet to replace by LCDs). But nevertheless staff is very friendly. The buffet breakfast is nice.

The best thing about this hotel is its location. There are 3 malls at a walking distance from the hotel hence evenings are a pleasure. Overall its an average bet.

We had 1 night stay here, looks good from exterior but not really from inside. Arrived in the late night, feels bit hot at the lobby, feel like the air-con has not fully on all. Don't really like the smell / fragrance inside the hotel. The floor is sticky, toilet flush is not functioning well, the shampoo used by previous hotel guests is still left in the washroom, the water for shower is very small, and there is solid dirt left on the toilet bowl, which to me it seems like faeces! The breakfast to me is poor, not much choices, the bread of john is hard, the cup cake is hard, the only food that i feel fine is noddles, eggs, fruits, salads. And we wonder why there is no staff at the entrance of cafe to record on the number of room for guest who comes for breakfast, we walked in & out with no staff bother who we are. RM 170+ single room per night is not worth the stay. Will not stay here if come for holiday, if any.

The only reason we picked this hotel is that we were flying out of the nearby Subang airport the following morning and we needed internet connection in the rooms to finish some work. We specifically asked reception if internet was available in the rooms before booking.

When we arrived we were shocked by how old this hotel is. We were “upgraded” to a very large suite on the top floor but that wasn’t enough. The rooms are stuck in a 1970s time warp. The furniture is old, dirty and chipped. The bathrooms are old and grimy. The windows are so dirty it looked foggy. The corridors and lifts stunk of cigarette. There was a karaoke bar within the hotel which was noisy and meant that non-hotel guests could easily enter the guestroom corridors. To top it all off, the bed linen had yellow marks and we found hair on the pillows. For GBP 45 a night this was a complete rip off.

To add insult to injury, the internet connection in the rooms did not work. We were given a modem to plug into a socket to get internet but it didn’t work at all. Someone from Reception came to look at it but clearly didn’t do anything and said that he would ask maintenance. Nothing was done. I later understood from another guy at Reception that internet doesn’t work in the rooms but only in the lobby. Considering that internet was the only reason for choosing this hotel, I was pretty disappointed. Also since the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, there were no internet cafes in sight. In the end, I had to work in the lobby area.

The only good few things about this hotel are that staff is generally friendly and knowledgeable (internet connection aside). Breakfast was good and pretty varied and the hotel has free underground parking, which was useful as we were on a driving holiday. Nevertheless, I would not recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms away from the Karaoke bar!

We attended the New Year eve buffet at Quality Hotel Shah Alam on 31/12/2011- the food was okay but the entertainment was very very boring and insipid. The function was held at the Lounge, and it was not airconditioned- with only a few coolers kept at some corners of the hall.....leaving the remaining guests sweating and hot.........horrible experience!
They seem to cater to locals only....we were the only foreigners in the hotel.and not a word was spoken in English by the MC.......could not understand anything. Besides, the MC while inviting audience members to join in the games, seeemed to purposely ignore our table......as if to say "You are not welcome"...........
The "door gift" must have cost less than Rm 5. a balloon, a new year cap and similar stuff...........very very cheap and lucky draw prizes seemed to be going in the direction of the people belonging to the Hotel itself......like the General Manager's family seemed to be winning everything!!!!!!!!
Please dont go to Qulaity Hotel...............it is truly a horrible place.
