I work in Bandar Utama so we often drive out to Kota Damansara for lunch since food in 1 Utama can be ridiculously overpriced!

We decided to go to Hakka Rang one day. Parking was not easy to find but luckily we found one just opposite the restaurant.

We ordered a 2 person set lunch, which included braised pork with fungus, stir fried eggs with long beans, tofu in soy sauce, 2 bowls of soup and 2 bowls of rice. Since there were 3 of us, we decided to order the yam abascus. Food was not too bad.

Ate to our stomachs were full before deciding on elsewhere for bubble tea.

The whole meal costs about RM14 per person. Quite decent although would prefer cheaper.

Service was not too bad. Pity this place didn't get much customers.

I stay nearby, the Hakka rang is opened by a non Hakka. Hakka food isn't authentic there, nothing is special, food portion is extremely small and it's expensive.

Are you a Hakka (an ethnic group belonging to the Chinese)? Or even if you are not one, why not head over to the Hakka Rang restaurant, located in the booming, developing township of Kota Damansara, if you are looking for a place to dine. After scouting around for a while, we finally decided to try out the Hakka Rang restaurant, located just a few shoplots away from the Ipoh Yong Tau Foo restaurant, as we couldn’t wait any longer.

As it was already quite late, there weren’t many people left in the restaurant. Hence, the service was good and fast. And the food was scrumptious too. We enjoyed every bit of it. The salted chicken was really worth a try and so was the deep fried pork with black fungus and the Hakka ‘tofu pok’. These were among the few dishes we had.

This restaurant is quite unique in a sense that it is a family-run business. The owners, who were also the waiters, were indeed friendly. They chatted with us and they made us feel welcomed. They made sure that our needs were well taken care of and even though it was already late and nearing closing time, they still served us with a smile on their faces. The restaurant is also well-maintained, clean and tidy and the ambience there is good.

Why don’t you give it a go? I would like to dine at this restaurant again to try out the many more dishes on offer and I am sure you will enjoy the food and service there.
