“A great relaxing holiday with everything”
Reviewed August 5, 2011

We heard great things about the hotel and resort so we decided to stay a week. No regrets what so ever. The four of us stayed in the one room (Club Executive Tranquility room) the kids slept on a roll out bed. The service was excellent. Any phone calls were answered immediately and requests actioned within 5 minutes. The Fuzion restaurant was fabulous although we only ate there at Breakfast each day.
The hotel location adjoining the Sunway lagoon theme park and the Sunway shopping shopping centre, was fantastic. We spent 3 days at the theme park and the kids loved it. We went to the shopping centre for dinner each day, also went bowling, ice skating and shopping too.
The only downside is that we had to wait several minutes for the lifts at peak times.
We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Certainly to be recommended for family stay, and go for the Club Rooms; they are just great toi stay with a family! The hotel personnel is very friendly and provided good service. Be patient, because most of them are a bit slow. Enjoy their smile.

It is great for families to have all entertainment park facilities on walking distance, although I must say that such parks should focus much more on hygiene, maintenance and giving visitors more 'oriental culture' rather than just copy-paste from USA. I am sure visitors to Malaysia are looking for the beauty of Malaysian cultures, cuisine, folklore, music and much more.

At Sunway Resorts Hotel and Spa, the Club Lounge toilet and the toilets of the Fusion Restaurant should be flushing well in the near future. Staff at the swimming pool bar and the Fusion Restaurant should be better trained to understand their menu (i.e. drinks, snacks etc.) and learn not to let customers wait for their beer or drinks or food for more than 20 minutes. We had a case where two staff had to see us at least six times to understand our order from the menu card, and still it went wrong.

The Fusion Restaurant on level 1 should learn to demonstrate Malaysia's vegetarian dishes (not only limited to South-Indian veggies). It was hard to find oriental vegetarian food in the 'Fusion' for teh days we stayed. For breakfast and dinners. And no discounts for those who ended eating only some cold vegetables; we had to pay the full amount for the buffet. The good thing about the Chef: he could improvize and make us happy with one malay-style veggie food!

During our stay we noticed quite some guests from the Arab Gulf Region. I am sure these families are not coming to Malaysia and stay in this hotel to see, feel, hear and touch Arabian stuff! Having belly dancers around is good, but show diversity of Asia. Give them the beauty of the orient, of Malaysia.

Room Tip: Go for the Club Rooms

My husband is working in KL for a few months and I took my three sons aged 15, 14 and 7 to the Sunway Resort Hotel for a holiday to visit him. I cannot praise the hotel enough for its exceptional standards of service. We stayed in two adjoining rooms on the 20th 'Club' floor. This was only marginally more expensive than the standard room and much better value. It includes breakfast in the club lounge and a two hour period each evening 1730-1930 with a free bar and a selection of local delicacies.

The hotel is half an hour out of KL but has a great location right beside the Pyramid shopping centre and the Sunway Lagoon water/animal/amusement park which my kids absolutely loved. There are loads of restaurants within easy walking distance and we weren't disappointed with any of them.

My highest praise though is for the fantastic service provided by every member of the hotel staff. The Club staff were so attentive and made a real fuss of 2 of my kids who had their birthdays during our stay. The service was just as amazing by the pool. A special mention to Gobi who appointed himself our personal assistant and lavished attention on me and the boys every single day. He is the sort of person who makes a holiday very special and is a credit to the hotel.

I hope to make another visit to KL next year and I wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else.

Room Tip: pay the extra for a club room. It's definitely worth it.

Our family recently stayed here for the second time. On both occasions, we stayed in a club room which, to me represents good value as it includes breakfast (which we could have at the club lounge or at the Fuzion on Level 1), bottled water n soft drinks thru the day as well as evening canapes( which is actually enough for dinner for some!) Service was good and prompt, there was a problem with the hot water supply one night, we notified the staff and someone came to look at it straight away. Wifi was fine in the public areas and there were 2 desktops for use in the club lounge. Only have one gripe & that would be about the milk used to make coffee in the lounge- using long life milk instead of fresh milk for lattes or cappucino, makes the coffee quite unpalatable to me. I resorted to going to the Pyramid shopping centre next door for my caffeine fix each morning, there is a Coffee Bean close to the hotel entrance to the shopping centre, n they use fresh milk. We also had Dim sum at Westlake Chinese Restaurant, quite pricey but has nice ambience, food was fine but not spectacular but my girls love the egg tarts and har kau there.

We had been very impressed by our stay at Trader's Hotel on the way through KL at the start of our trip but we had decided to stay at Sunway on the way home so that the kids- 8, 6, 6, 3 year olds could enjoy the water park rather than get dragged around the shops of KLCC.
Our initial impression on arrival at 3pm (after travelling since 6am) was great- very friendly, we were taken up to the Club Lounge and told we would be upgraded to a suite with a connecting room- we had requested two sets of interconnecting rooms to accomodate our three families. We were shown to one room and then told our other room wasn't ready yet but that they would call us soon. We decided to go for a walk. At 5.30pm our room was still not ready and we had heard nothing. A call to Club Lounge didn't make the situation any clearer. We said we could cope without another connecting room as long as they were ok with four in one room - which initially at time of booking was not ok.
We had not been sent up our luggage yet either. As we had two one year old babies in our party we again enquired about our room. My husband had to go down to the lobby and wait in person for someone to sort it out so we could put our babies to bed.
We were then told the problem had occurred because other people had paid for late checkouts. We were not happy about this but were told we should be happy with the 'better rooms' we had been given. When we finally got up to our room after 6pm there were still not enough beds for our children. I had to ring Club Lounge again and request a baby cot and a pull out for our daughter.
Yes the hotel was very busy due to Arabic holidays and had many families staying but we were very disappointed with the level of service we received as Club level customers. We will not be returning to Sunway as unfortunately the water park didn't win us over either.

My husband and like staying in hotels on a short weekend just to pamper ourselves.

We decided to tryout the Club Room-Honeymoon theme rooms at the Sunway Resort. It was very close to our home-so it would be easier for us to get back in case there was an emergency back home. It was a last minute plan so we really didn't know what to expect.

The moment we arrived, we were brought straight up to Level sumthing (can't remember but it was way up!), instead of checking in the ground floor where it was pack with lots of people. The journey itself in the lift was good. Already there was a lady waiting and handed out our welcome letter, and straight away checking in. I was expecting lots of filling up the forms etc..and waiting..waiting. but no. She was friendly too.

Cocktails were from 5.30pm -7pm. We were starving so we had quite alot of those mini snacks, which was nice too!. And there were complimentary alcholic drinks. The atmosphere was nice..and quiet..I guess we were actually paying for privacy. The lightings were also just nice-dim... The people were also business people..or frequent visitors. We had some gin & tonic, wine and beer. husband and I were chit-chatting like old times. It was good as we did not remember the last time we actually talked without having kids to suddenly barge into a conversation.

The room was nice too, although not up to my expectations. It was veryclean. Soft blue colour theme.. We had 2 TVs...one at the living room and another one right in front of our bed. There was also a DVD player, luckily we had our DVDs.

We wanted to have the DVD player in front of our bed (as the DVD player was in the living room), and their guy fixed it in a jiffy!

Menu from room service was very limited- so we only ordered mushroom soup..oxtail soup with rice..and something. There were good actually. There were actually lots of food to order but you have to go downstairs. You can even order pizza from your room.

We had a coffee maker in our room and also few types of complimentary coffee beans to tryout. Hmm..nice hot coffee..... Alcholic drinks were very expensive, luckily we brought our own bottleof wine! Also complimentary fruits.

Bathroom was clean, however bathtub was small. Shower head was big.

Beds were fluffy..and so are the pillows. Pillows are huge. Mirror too.

Breakfast the next day were also at the lounge where we had the cocktails.

The Club Rooms-themed were around RM700/night, but the last time we tried booking it again, it was RM1.1K++ I think it was because it was summer holidays for those outside of Malaysia.

Only thing to complain was that they forgotten to deliver our complimentary newspaper to our room, which was not a big deal anyway. Could always call them.

Anyway, the whole experience was good-compared to The Gardens. It beats the Gardens, Midvalley in the friendliness of the staff, the promptness of service..at the atmosphere and the 'special'feeling. We stayed in the Executive Premier-supposedly to be the most expensive..I don't know. But when we pay more- we expect better service than usual. Recomended for couples that needed short one day break.
