The location of this lodge is strategic and it is somewhere in the central of Kuching city. You can easily assess to nearby place. Their service is good with friendly staff that ready to serve. The room is comfortable and there are quick in responding to any broken we report for example the break down of air-cond. The breakfast is good but just not so enough for big potion human. The place for dining at top floor is good place to fellowship with other travellers and there is nice scene for viewing as it is just covered by roof. It is good choice for budget.

Stayed here after meeting someone in England who recommended it and because it was rated highly in Lonely Planet.
Did not disappoint, what a gem! So clean and so much attention to detail. Stayed in different rooms dorms and rooms and all were great. Breakfast simple but just what we needed.
The thing that makes this place is the bar upstairs, wonderful chill out for meeting people and sharing stories and obviously a cold beer. The other highlight is the people, they were amazing from the reception staff to the bar staff to the owners who really made our trip one to remember.
Would definitely visit Laurence downstairs in Bex for Village in the Cloud trip, hard trek but fabulous experience.
Can't speak highly enough about this little gem, will certainly be back there one day soon.

First let me say that I did not stay here. And I'm kicking myself for that. We got a deal at the Sheraton (far out of town) so we stayed there. Next time I come to Kuching, I will most definitely stay at Singgahsana Lodge.

- Excellent location, and I mean EXCELLENT! The lodge is right across from the chinese temple, and right across the street from the waterfront. This place is walkable from everywhere in Kuching town.
- There is great security! The door on the street is locked from the outside. Just make sure you don't let anyone slip in as you exit.
- The staff is very laid back and helpful, with lots of information about things to do in Kuching.
- The entire hostel is quite clean! Everyone removes their shoes before entering the lobby.
- There is a large bar / lounge on the top floor. It's covered (has a roof) but is not air conditioned. It was pretty hot up there! But the drinks were cold and there were plenty of places to sit, and a pool table. The picture in my post is of this roof bar, and you can see what an interesting room it is! There is so much to look at, things that traveler's have contributed. It's a very worldly place.

This was a central location and easy to walk along the riverfront and to museums, city attractions etc. The staff were excellent and answered all our requests for help and information. Sadly the breakfast was not up to the usual Malaysian standards. Only 2 pieces of white bread per person allowed, one type of jam/jelly, and watermelon for fruit each morning. This is not much to sustain hungry people about to embark on jungle explorations, or city sight-seeing.

We used the prepaid taxi option from the airport and arrived at the lodge with ease. It location is great. Right at the water front and rubbing shoulders with the heavy hitting hotels! We booked a double room with a bathroom. It was very clean and comfortable. Walls are very think so you hear your neighbours easily - however was not a big issue.

the lodge is extremely well run with a stream of people moving through it. The staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly and respond to queries about everything!

They have a lovely bar upstairs - so if you want a beer - go upstairs - great view and chilled atmosphere. We went to Bako national Park from here - which was very easy as the bus stop to Bako is just at the back of the lodge. The lodge also has a left luggage area which can help if going out for a few days.
What a great please! Great stay!

I recommend you simply miss the breakfast - it is not worth it - a piece of white bread, watermelon and coffee. Rather head out and find an alternative.

getting a taxi back to the airport - simply walk across the street to the upmarket hotel and jump into one of the waiting taxes!

I would recommend Kutching as a base and take day trips and allow for at least a day for Kutching to see everything you would want to see.

Very nice relaxed feeling in this little town

Room Tip: There are about 5 rooms with attached bathrooms.

Absolutly great hostel in Kuching. Great location, friendly helpful staff, cheap water, awsome roof bar, okey breakfast (as a swede I don't ever consider toast and jam as breakfast), clean rooms! Top Notch!

Room was clean and didnt feel like a hostel but like home. Common Toilets were clean and dry and towels were provided. Breakfast simple toast, fruits and coffee/tea. Just a short walk to waterfront to enjoy the scenery. Will definately stay again if in kuching.
