It is a great experience to learn about the story of early Chinese immigrants in Sarawak: how they come and survive, what were their jobs and languages. There are records of dialogues in various dialects spoked Chinese from different part of China. Very glad to find that I can understand most of the languages they spoke (Hokkien, Foochow, Teochew etc.)

This place is very new. Upon entrance, there is a small room to watch a short video about how history of Chinese at Sarawak. Although it's not really a museum, but I find it interesting visiting it. The best of it is, the entrance is free!

The chinese museum is located in the centre of the tourist district in Kunching by the waterfront. It is a small museum, but was totally re-furbished in 2010 and the interior still looks brand new.

Entry is free (donations welcome), and you can learn about the chinese in Borneo. There are several interactive displays to enjoy.

Getting round this museum will take no longer than 30 minutes, well worth a visit!

Really sorry have to said that, the Chinese museum was not like a museum, but more to the Chinese Tribes information center. There were a lot of information there, but for my own opinion, not probably organised. There were some displayed items such as dragon and lion for the tranditional Chinese dances, unique ivory sculptures, tea drinking table, and so on. There were still a lot of room for improvement for that museum.

Just a thinking in my mind, why don't the government bring the displays in Chinese Museum and put it in Sarawak Museum? One good thing about the Chinese Museum- Admission is free. So, that's no harm for us to take a look :-) For more information on my experience in Kuching, pls visit our blog at:
